No breathing room
Pace of play was gridlock entire round. Good luck if you're parnered with someone who loses a ball. Not enjoyable knowing you have to play mistake free golf all outing.
Tight and Weird
If you like paying a lot of money to play between white soldiers everywhere, then you'll love this place. Greens were clowny too. Do not recommend. Good clubhouse vibes, but the amenities are expensive.
Do NOT ride in the cart. You'll just be getting yelled at all day about where you're not allowed to be, which is about 92% of the course's surface area. That was a total waste of money. In hindsight, I should have just used my pushcart because the pace of play is SLOW.
Good pace. Bad pins and some unplayable greens
Course was in ok condition, however some of the greens are unplayable because of the slopes. Had holes were you would putt up to the hole and ball would roll back off the green. Staff was very friendly and clubhouse was very nice
GolfNow and course Proshop not communicating
Proshop refused to acknowledge GolfNow had already paid for two players and charges them anyway, even though I had cler evidence I had already paid GolfNow for all three players!
Great value and getting better
I’ve only played Links twice but I’ve been impressed with both the course and the staff both times. There are some critical reviews here but most are from 3 to 6 years old. There are issues with every non country club course and Links is no different. Several fairways have ground under repair areas but they are clearly marked as such which indicates to me that they are aware that improvements are needed and they are working on them. Other courses just have bare spots or runoff issues that are not marked as GUR which tells me they either are totally oblivious to the shortcomings or they just don’t care and would prefer that golfers just get over the issues. Greens are fast and yet soft enough to receive and reward approach shots. Some pins could be placed in better spots to avoid bare spots or excessive runouts due to slope and/or speed, making lag putts critical. I obviously like the course and recommend it to others as fair, playable, and affordable at $52 + cart during the week. If it were closer to San Diego I’d play it regularly.
Lake house golf course is an excellent value
Lake House Golf Course formally known as Lake San Marcos golf course is a true hidden secret. Tucked behind San Marcos High School it is off the beaten path. The course is in overall excellent shape even with the recently punched greens. The restaurant and welcoming balcony are great spots to eat some snacks, enjoy a drink or two with friends. This course is a great value for the money. If you’ve not played here before, you would be well served to try it next time you are in North County
Great overall experience!
Love this course. Played it many times. Great experience from start to finish. The team is top notch and the course continues to improve and level up. The clubhouse and resturant are great as well. Love the course layout. The back 9 especially has some really great views in the course.
Good Day
It was a pleasant day. Walked it and enjoyed it.
Some bare patches on the fairways but generally okay. Somewhat muddy.
Overall the greens were good.
As a first time player I wished I had been warned when checking in about driving range he to the left of hole 1.
Many fairways needing work
Fairways on many holes were a bit beaten up. Greens were in fairly good condition and had recently been punched (about 3 weeks earlier. Some areas off the immediate fairway were overly wet. Pace of play was good.
Fun course
Fun course, a little bit soggy in some areas. For the $, it was an awesome value. Great weather!
Great course w/ great value.
Pleasantly surprised by the course and it's price. Well maintained, few physical issues that are not even worth detailing, great price. Above average practice areas. Course is laid out in and around a planned community w/ only a few adjacent fairways making it a little tight at times for those who might send a tee shot left or right. Some holes seem unrealistically long to make par but overall a good test of your club selection skills. Absolutely walkable with only a couple elevation changes that will give you a pretty fair leg workout. You need to give this course a try. Greens are pretty fast but smooth. Well worth the money and drive.
Great Course
First time playing this course! It was great. With how many people that were there I was surprised with the fast pace of play. 10/10 recommend!
Great Course, Not So Great Members
The staff, range and course are awesome. Greens roll fast. But we had 2 run-ins with “members” that kinda tarnished the day. One called the marshall on us on the 2nd hole thinking we didn’t belong or have a tee time scheduled. The other was wildly rude at the turn because we were trying to keep pace of play. They put us behind by 15 minutes. Aside from these interactions, the place was nice. Not sure we’d play again though.
Worth the Drive
I came up from Spring Valley to play the course, and was not disappointed. LOVE the course. A few fairways had some dry spots but not enough to be an issue. The sand in the green-side traps is very thin, with hard pan underneath - do not use your high-bounce wedge. The greens are in great shape, consistently fast and some are very tricky to read the slope. I carts have geo-fencing limits that will stall or stop the cart to keep you out of areas they don't want you to go, but there are very few warnings on the cart display. End result is that you don't usually know where those "fences" are -- got pretty tired of that! All in all though, the course is well worth the price.
