Love this course!!!
We had an epic day playing Cottonwood today. Did I play my best game today? Not at all... but I thoroughly enjoyed every hole. And that should tell yo something, as I’m very connective with myself and my scores. So where is typically be bummed that I shot above my handicap today... I could care less. The tee boxes are in fantastic shape, the greens are near perfect, the greens are a bit hard and fast(which hurt my chip shots a bit), the layout is great though! Super chill course, nice mix of easy and challenging at the same time. They also have 4 different tee off locations for any skill level. My girlfriend needed to play the reds while we played the back tees. The reds are on average 50-70 yards ahead of the white and black tees. She really appreciated this option!
If I HAD TO not pick something... it would be the San traps where all pretty wet and not like hitting out of regular sand at all. But honestly, I could care less. It just added some more data for me to use when I encounter this type of sand later down the road. I enjoyed the challenge. ;)
Much respect and thanx to everyone at Cottonwood Ivanhoe. The course is beautiful and we will be regulars without a doubt! My new favorite place to play in San Diego.
Challenging course if you are not hitting the fairways.
Nice fairways, greens are rolling probably 9.5 to 10. Course is in good shape, sand is covid sand. Pace of play was 5 hours. Tried to get food at the halfway point. They had nothing ready to make the turn. Finished back nine hangry. Carts are optional for 10 bucks only 2 per 4 some. Enjoyed the course.
good value, paid $23 to walk. Not crowded, took 3hours and 45 minutes to walk 18 as a single. the greens were very good for cottonwood, pretty fast. good day and good value. for the price when I spend $12 to hit a large bucket of range balls, the $23 to play is a great value.
There is a very nice golf course. The price is so reasonable. This club make me more happy. Thanks a lot.
Nice day out there today. Greens a bit slow but overall everything in solid shape
It's a shame
Poor Cottonwood continues its downward slide. Clubhouse and outbuildings seem to be under constant attack from termites and rot. Great bones and hope they can turn it around.
Downward slide? The course is looking better than it has in years. In fact, there is even a new look with tightly cut grass around the greens. Much funner to chip from, looks tight, and it will help with the pace of play as its no longer patchy rough. Best value in SD right now without a doubt.
Good, but slow
Fun track, but tight. Course seems to be in pretty good shape. Played two rounds there this week, pace of play has been an issue both times. Lots of people new to the game, but also no marshals out there to enforce pace of play. Good course for the value.
Thank you for leaving a review. We appreciate your coming out to play Cottonwood. We do have lots of groups out here that are spaced out a little furhter than usual for social distancing purposes. This might cause the course to be a little slow. We will work with our team to speed up play.
Rough is a little over grown. Fairways and greens are great and fair. Good drives are critical. Don't blame the course...hit it straight!
Thank you for the 4-star review! We hope that on your next visit, we can earn that last star!
Course in better condition than last time really fun course
Thank you for coming out! The course is in great shape and we grateful for everyone who are coming out to play. Hope to see you again soon!
They were following the Covid protocols unlike Steele Canyon. But same course and too bad as it has lots of potential with the right funding.
Thank you for coming out to play and leaving a 5-star review!
Course Has Gotten Better!
The course is in amazing shape! The best it has ever been. The real difference out there is the new GM Chantel. She is a young woman with amazing drive and command of her staff that is unprecedented out at Cottonwood. She has completely turned this place around and now, (no joke here) this is one of the nicest, most well kept courses in the county!
Thank you for the review! We will pass this great feedback along to Shantel!
During week play and after a day of rain was very good. Of few puddles and soaked areas of fairways but overall very good conditions to play. .
Thank you for review Robert! Come see us again soon!
This course probably has 500 old cottonwood trees so it lives up to its name. Old beautiful trees that were looking super healthy yesterday. Like an earlier reviewer said, if they could only get the range back, it would be real close to fully revived. I feel bad for what this course has had to endure over the last many years (water prices, competition from surrounding courses with more money, the declining of recreational golf, etc.) but they have hung in there no doubt. Only one of two courses left but Ivanhoe was always been the better track. The tee boxes are looking much much better and the fairways and greens remain in great shape. People forget this used to be the Monday qualifier course for the Buick Open back in the day (now the Farmers). Its much more of a championship course than essentially any of the older public tracks in SD. Essentially no houses on the course. Again, one gorgeous cottonwood tree after another line the fairways. Hoping so bad this course can stay around for years to come. They and golf deserve it. Thanks for doing what you can to keep a great golf course here in SD.
Thank you for the review! We hope to see you back out here soon for more great Cottonwood golf!
great place to practise the game
This course has been a lot happier in its past but it still offers a challenge and offers a course that has ample fairways and reasonable greens
Thank you for coming out to play Cottonwood. We think we are the best value in the area. Please come see us again soon!
Fairways in Good Condition, Greens in Great Shape, Decent pace of play, very good value.
Thank you for the review! What was your favorite golf hole out here?
Thank you for the review, We hope that on your next visit we may earn those last two stars!
