Very Disappointed
My boyfriend and I have played here several times, and I was very disappointed on Monday. It took us almost 6 hours to complete the course with only 2 of us playing. The people in front of us were hitting multiple balls. I called the pro shop to see if a marshall could be sent out, but he went home early for a "family emergency". I was told that was the normal rate of pace for a holiday. It is very unlikely that we will be returning. Manteca Muni is a much better option.
cow pasture
used to love this course,,gone downhill, poor greens fairways, needs TLC.
Lovin' Lockeford Springs
Course was in very good shape, greens quick but not crazy; really favors players with left to right ball flight; hole #4 is underrated at #3 most difficult hole on course, should be #1 especially for non bombers off tee! Slow play on weekends, could probably use a Marshall to keep pace of play reasonable
Good course
It was our first time playing this course. It was in good condition and would definitely play it again.
Poor Greens
The course itself is a nice layout. The drought has taken it toll though, as most fairways have several brown, burned out areas. The greens are the most concern; they have clumps of small weeds, for lack of a better term, all over them. Enough so to alter the course of your putts. Another gripe I have is the expense of beverages at the snack bar. $3.00 for a gator aid, come on really!
Better alternative (golfing)
It has been a while since I played here, course was in good shape. Playing golf is always a good. Paired up with a great couple. Wife had a function near by so I was able to golf, great hot deal!
Free is too high
The cart paths were complete. Very depressing course. Nice greens. But fairways all crabgrass. I wouldn't play there again if it was free. Very of very dry dead cow pastures. What a shame.
Friendly course
The fees are great, friendly staffs, worth the driving from Sacramento
Surprise
Played course on 108 degree day. Depite Cal drought conditions course was in very good shape, fairways and greens watered and waste areas dry. Plentiful good cold drinking water app. every other hole.
Great Value and Pace of Play
Came out here around Noon to play for only $10 and couldn't have been happier with the value for the course. Course is a dad dry in certain areas but the greens have been very well maintained. Front 9 played by myself in under an hour, then paired up with a twosome and pace was slower on the back playing behind 2 5somes. All in all the course was worth the $10 bucks but I wouldn't pay more than $20 for the overall shape of the course! Definitely worth playing on the hot deal times though.
AS EXPECTED
Having lived and played golf in the San Joaquin/Sacramento Valley for over 30 years, and been through several drought years I found the course was in as good of condition as possible.
The greens were in very good condition and held very well, even though it was 100+ degrees.
this course has great features
I had a great time. looking forward to playing again.
Drought taking its toll
The tees were ok. The fairways are getting brown and the rough was full of weed clover flowers.. hard to find the ball. Bunkers were better than they have been but still need work. The greens were good, lots of ball marks but overall good condition. Hope Lockeford can survive the drought....
Well disigned
Play it several times, great layout. one beer on tap, one hot dog, and rootbeer, $17.50. My openion too
much!! everything else was great.
Lockeford
Challenging course but I love it. Have played it several times and encounter different challenges everytime. which is good for a hacker like me.
Bring a foursome
Fairly busy for a Wednesday afternoon. We were paired with a couple of guys who were great fun, but they had to leave after nine. Joined at the tenth by a guy who sucked the air out of the round.
Course itself isn't that difficult. Sand traps are pretty hard. Love the vineyards that border a good number of the holes. Greens were pretty nice, and a couple are downright tricky, but fair.
I'll definitely play it again.
great value
not crowded,,,never seems to be,,,which I really appreciate
Course for all levels of golfers.
Three males played at a good pace. We like the course setting. The course offers challenges for all levels of golfers.
Fairways
Some of the fairways were a choppy. I'm pretty sure this was due to the winter months. Greens were in good condition.
Fun Day
Great condition, pace, and service..
Off season conditions... but nice. Lots of grounds keepers working, and bunkers were well groomed. A marshal drove by 3 times equipped with spare golf balls if someone was slowing pace to look for balls they lost. (I was fine and didn't need any)
The course layout is a little confusing for first timers. Golf with a guest who has been there,
or pay close attention to where the next tee is.
A very nice experience in general.
