Greens are frustratingly fast & difficult. Fairways are friendly.
Like 2 others in our 4-some, this was my first time playing here. We thought the course was beautiful and in great shape, but none of us will come back because the greens are so difficult that they turned our game into a grind. You expect to see the pros at the US Open occasionally chipping onto an elevated green only to have their ball roll back off the green and down the hill, ending up 20 yards away...but it happened Way Too Often at the Royal Club. The greens are too fast and filled with so much undulation that a 10 foot putt could (and did) easily end up 15 feet from the hole.I'm an 8 handicapper, shot 86 at the Royal, but I felt like I shot 100. It's a nice course for the pros. Also they need some signage for new visitors. I couldn't find the bag drop because nobody was working. So I carried my clubs down to the pro shop...only to find out that the carts and the driving range are back UP by the parking lot where I came in. That was fun.
Good course but try to avoid
The staff decided to push my tee time 40 minutes to let a party of 20 who showed without tee times.
Total review
Tee boxes grass was too long.
Fairways nice.
Greens are so tricked up that 3 putts are the norm. Huge greens are way too undulating. I was looking for the clowns nose.
Perfect
Prettiest course in MN. The Queen's 9 is as picturesque as it gets !!!!
Nice track
Great course and perfect condition. Greens were quick, fairways were immaculate. Highly recommended
Pleasant
I was pleasantly surprised by what a nice course this is. From layout to conditions I truly enjoyed my round.
a LITTLE OVERPIRICED AT RACK RATE FOR THE CONDITIONS
Played this course before. The amenities are very nice. However the tee boxes were really "beat" no other way to say it, Several greens had large areas of patch work done to them. Lots of brown, dying grass around tee boxes, etc. Not really in play but but not pleasing to the eye for a $100 round. Flags should be color coded, red-front, white-middle and blur-back pin placements. This is just lazy in my mind. They have stakes in the fairways on most holes showing flag placement but not all of them. Played with a Golf Now discount which helped. This is a beautiful place but not up to "par" with conditions at other places at this time of year. Beautiful Club House and outdoor balcony for the 19th hole. I've always loved this place but this time the grounds were not up to normal standards.
We experienced a great day of golf.
Loved the course. Will definitely be back. Joe and Nora
Challenging golf course
Played as a single getting paired up with 3 others. Course was in good shape, greens were holding approach shots and rolling nicely. Busy holiday weekend but managed to get around in just over 4.25 hours. Worth the drive out each and every time.
Played from the White tees which normally play from Blue, this completely changed my experience on the course. I’m a mid-single digit handicap so do generally play from back tees. Folks I got paired up with played from White so I joined them. The golf course seemed much more fair from White and just made the round more enjoyable.
Great course
Challenging layouts can confuse your brain but don’t sleep on those greens.
Great staff and very good pace of play.
