Average Muni
Best way to describe Madera is its an average muni course. Greens were in decent shape other than being full of un-repaired pitch marks. Fairways had decent coverage with only a few thin spots here and there. Sand traps are horrible. Hardpan with only a thin layer of sand.
Cart had a one piece solid plexiglass windshield that was hard to see through from being heavily scratched. Would have been nice to be able to flip down the windscreen to let some air in.
Course is easily walkable being completely flat and all but one transfer being short.
Pace of play
The pace of play was slowed when the 2some and 4some combined for a several holes in front of us. They did break it up but pace had slowed considerably and ended taking longer than necessary. I believe if they had a Marshall this probably would not have happened! Otherwise everything else was good.
Great course for the money in Central Valley
After playing at this course for over a year now, it has improved. First off the tee boxes are always in good condition. The fairways are 95% green with some yellow spots. Greenside bunkers have drainage systems so water doesn’t collect. They do have a thin layer of sand although more sand would be ideal. Greens are in excellent condition besides some golfers not fixing their divots. Friendly staff paired with good food in the club house. Pace of play is steadily moving, Sunday’s is when pace slows downs a bit. Overall great course. Will continue to play here every chance I get.
Great!!!
The course is in great shape. Probably the best I’ve seen them in years. Greens are in great shape and the fairways were cut perfectly. Looking forward to going back
Fun course to plan
Course is in great shape. Greens have come back really nicely. Fun place to play. Easy walk or ride.
Great course
We are senior golfers and play from the senior tees.
The course is set up perfectly for us. The staff at the course have always been great and friendly. We look forward to playing at Madera and will keep this course in our weekly rotation.
Value and money
In my short 4 months in the Central Valley this course has been my go to place. Proximity to me plus the value are always a plus but quite frankly it's a relatively nice course with a challenging course. Never ever super crowded so the pace is perfect. The greens were punched already so we are good to go. A little slow yesterday. Try it, you will be surprised.
Not sure what tee boxes you were looking at, but the #1 tee especially is an uneven mess.
