Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.

The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.

Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.

A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

1st timer at Poor Man’s Pebble

The front side’s rough was ROUGH, super long and we could barely find the ball. However, the backside had all the views! Would definitely play again!

Really Fun, Scenic Course

The front nine wanders through trees and houses, nothing special. But the entire back nine is an absolute stunner. The holes are challenging but playable, the views are spectacular, and the sounds of the ocean are inspiring. Worth every dollar.

Back 9 is breathtaking!

Front 9 looks like a typical municipal, short, narrow, nothing special. However, after 11th hole, the course winds through a peninsular and every hole has pacific ocean view! Well worth the money just for the back 9.

Great site, needs more TLC for the price.

Great location, esp the back nine. Fairways, greens and especially bunkers were average minus. Green fees seemed high for weekday afternoon.

Always Enjoyable. Even in the wind

Conditions remain solid all around at Pacific Grove. Fairways were nice and lush with good coverage throughout. Most of the green are in good shape with only a couple having some small disease areas near the edges.

Tee boxes were level as well with good coverage. Pace of Play was a little slower than usual but still in the acceptable range.

PG is always a fun course with spectacular views of the ocean. Even with the night winds I’m the afternoon on the back 9. It was still enjoyable

Back nine is worth the price of admission.

The front nine is quirky but the back to back par 5's are good golf holes. But I play this course for the atmosphere of the back nine. The waves crashing against the rocks as you stand on the tee box are incredible. The par 5 12th hole is among my favorite holes in all of golf.

Great Back 9

This is a beautiful 18 and well priced to play woth your family. Back 9 is as beautiful as Portrush Dornoch which are top 2 in my book. Greens and tees are in well below average shape but who cares when the view is great! Shorter format and very tight.

The course is great but the golf shop staff needs to be trained

This is probably the first time I am writing a review. I have been to many golf courses over 15 years, but I have never seen a golf shop staff this rude and unwilling to treat their guests. I could say that she looked very annoyed. I don’t think it is a good idea to put someone with that look on the pro shop.

By the way, it is a great link course that I want to play again.
