My son at the 18th hole! Photo submitted by Hassellcari on 08/24/2013
ALL THE GREENS ARE AWFUL
Lake Spivey should be ashamed of themselves!! I should have known something was wrong when the senior group that was scheduled to play before us all of a sudden decided not to play. My group teed off and once we got to the green was rough and had muddy spots, ok. Let’s go to hole 2. Muddy just like hole #1. We gave that hole a pass as well. We get to hole 3 then hole 4 and it’s still the same. Hole 5 was inoperable. Get through the front 9 and I was highly upset bc every green was just as bad as the 1st green. We decided to continue with the back 9 and they were just as bad. Hole 17 (Par 3)was probably the best one out there. Lake Spivey you need to definitely step your game back up to where you were a month ago. This is ridiculous. I recommend no one plays this course until they get it fixed.
Greens in Terrible Shape
The greens were in terrible shape. Most of them had mud spots or weeds/crabgrass growing on them. I think they should have had something of note on their website or Golfnow. We should have been offered a refund or at least a raincheck to come back and play once the greens were in better shape.
Mr D
Greens were awful, burn all over. They need new maintenance crew. Priced too high for these conditions. Tee to green okay , cart paths needs work as well.
Green fees should be 20 dollars for 18 holes.
Lake Spivey 8/23/23
Course overall was in good shape. The greens however were not. We were told in the club house that the greens suffered from the recent heat waves. only 3 greens were in good shape the rest had many bare spots but were still playable
SS
The course is in terrible shape, especially the greens
S.S
The Course is in terrible condition 90% of all the greens is terrible. The fairways was cut, but the second cut was terrible. Could not find the ball if you was in that area.
Don’t Do It
Just don’t do. Was accused of slow play, when it was a 4some 2 groups ahead. Unnecessary comments were made. There is no fairway. You can barely putt on the greens. No beverage cart. Just don’t. I am sorry I had to write this.
Don’t waste your money
If you play this course after reading this then don’t blame nobody but yourself. The greens are dirty and mud no grass on them. The fairways are so bad they need to just shut this course down and start over. I would only play this course if it was 15$ .
Can’t call those greens
Course layout is very good but conditions are awful. Greens have minimal grass on them, just mostly mud. Fairways are bare in numerous spots. Tee boxes are okay, and bunkers are very inconsistent. Staff is just there, neither friendly or not. Starter is nicest guy out there, but nobody monitors pace of play. Course was packed and twosomes were not paired up. This use to be a great track, but it has gone severely downhill.
Very under kept. Greens were HORRIBLE
Greens were horrible, had lots of patches with little grass. Every time my ball landed on the green it got embedded and was a pain to constantly replace my muddy balls. Holes had water in them, definitely not worth the $60.
We’ll be patient!
We used to come to this course regularly just prior to Covid and a few times during. In the last several months, we’ve played a few times excited about the greens being replaced, and some other improvements on drainage. We played just two weeks ago and the course seem to be shaping up. Two weeks later, just this past weekend, the greens were just awful. It’s so sad to see money going into the course, but perhaps not having a big picture and how one aspect affects the other (working irrigation to assist with new greens).I know it’s secondary, but it would be so nice for the restaurant to be open and to be able to get something to eat and a beer after.
Lake Spivey
The course could use mowing. The greens were not in the best of shape. I have seen this course in much better shape and a joy to play.
