Not bad!
Staff was friendly and helpful. Course layout was fun to play especially the back nine! Would definitely play again. Bring extra balls if you get off the fairway it's hard to find your ball. Overall I enjoyed the round!
great day
The weather was hot and the golf was hot. All greens and fairways were in good condition except green # 9. #9 had some dry spots other than that all was good. One thing the Links need is to have ice water igloos on every hole and plenty of ice for the ice buckets on the carts. With summer coming on that is a must!
Great Option!!!
The staff is great. The course is in good shape and improving. Will definitely play again.
First time play
Well laid out course. Maintenance is marginal. Little amenities. As hot deal it was good, otherwise not so good. Ok break from wine tasting.
condition
The course condition is poor. The fairways need to be cut lower. If your in the middle of the fairway it's like playing from the rough in many places. The front 9 greens are getting better but are still very slow.compared to the back 9.
Make up the rules as you go
On your golf app now the Links Course makes up their own rules and you have to ride with somebody else during this pandemic not fair bad rating don't like
Friendly course
This course has the best staff anywhere. They are very accommodating. I love playing at the Links.
Very poor condition
I’ve played at this course for years. I’m sad to see the condition it’s come to. I don’t want to trash the course too much, because I believe in leaving positive reviews. To keep it simple, I won’t be going back. I hope the staff is able to resurrect the course, as it has always been one of my favorites
Worst greens I have ever played on in almost 50 years of golfing...
Rode the Blues (6642/70.8/112) as a single on a GN "Hot Deal" in breezy, overcast conditions around 55. With a $10 off certificate, I played for less than $5.
Solid par 72 layout with five par 3 and 5's. You start out with two straight par 5's and later have two straight par 3's on the front. You have played three par 5's and three par 3's after 7 holes, very unusual. Numerous dog legs and some of the largest greens I have ever played on keeps the layout interesting.
Playing conditions were terrible however.
Tees were all over the place, almost uniformly terrible. Several on the front were higher than rough on many courses. Several on the back were basically hardpan. The others were anywhere from poor to okay. Mostly level with few divots, but many were hard to get a tee in the ground they are so firm.
Fairways are a mixture of grasses, winter thin, very firm and mostly straw colored.
Rough also a winter thin mixture of grasses and usually had okay coverage. The secondary rough has been removed and is quite punitive because it plays like a plowed field, clumps of unlevel dirt.
Most of the sand traps were long ago removed and are now grass bunkers. They are large with steep faces and are challenging to play out of even with grass because it is so clumpy. The few actual sand traps remaining are in poor condition.
Greens were absolutely the WORST I have ever experienced on a regulation course in almost 5 decades of golfing. They were sanding them as I played, which I am honestly not sure if that helped or hurt the way they putted. The front 9 greens were maintained higher than fringe that you would definitely chip over rather than putt through. Many had large hardpan bare spots and putted slow beyond belief, there were a 0/10. Back nine greens were identical except they were maintained at a height you would expect greens to be. They were at least up to medium slow but just as bumpy. They were a 2/10, so my overall green rating was a 1/10. First time I have EVER rated greens a 1/10.
Quick and efficient check-in, Steven in the pro shop was great. I played 2 balls and only saw a couple of other golfers out there. Pro Shop is a trailer, no Starter, Marshall or Drink cart. The gas powered carts do not have GPS. The course was marked every 50 yards old school. In this condition, I am amazed they are still open for business. This course just made a relatively small list of courses that I will not be coming back to.
course condition
The Links course is being improved daily. The owner is committed to fixing the greens and fairways. The word is the front 9 will reopen in November. I play there twice a month and will continue. The pace of play is great.
$10 weekdays
Course under repair. Many back 9 holes are wet in areas where your drive lands. Greens still need a lot of work. If you want to just get some work in with your irons, $10 bucks is a great deal Front 9 will re-open Oct. 15th
Links in Paso Robles ca.
The fairways are in great coondition. The greens are slow but they will be in great condition soon because they were recently punched and sanded. I am a golf at least once a week.
Improved playing conditions
This links type golf course is being renovated and improved daily. The new owners are dedicated to improving the golf course and are planning a 300 space RV campground. The greens were recently aerated and sanded making putting a bit iffy. Overall things are better however there is still a ways to go. Overall we lots of fun and were greeted by the owner in a friendly manner that was welcomed.
links golf
great course for fast play. green are great. will play there again. course can be tough when the wind blows.
Terrible
We pulled up to play and this course is a cow pasture with flags. It was so bad we went across the street and paid full price. $100 each at Hunter Ranch. AGAIN THIS IS NOT A GOLF COURSE! I want my money back
Poor course
The course was in too bad condition to charge $27 for golf.
The Links
I wouldn’t spend the money here. Go to a nicer course and pay extra to play. Not even half way thru our round a shotgun tournament started and put a slow round already to a complete halt. We ended up leaving after 15 holes. My first time here was in December, but the course needs a lot of love. At least I can say I played it.
Nice course but needs help.
First time playing, but had a good time. Course in need of some help. Most greens were in good shape, but some had some damage. Players need to fix ball marks on greens. Fairways could us some attention. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice course, but overpriced at the posted rates.
Fun tract
Course was in good condition for the time of year. Greens were holding every approach shot and putted true. Fun course with nice views!
Tee boxes & greens are green yearround, but like the Fairways at the Augusta National, the Links Course of Paso Robles has Bermuda grass fairways. Bermuda grass withstands the heat of Paso Robles and is drought tolerant, but it dies back in the frosts of winter making the fairways appear brown. The beautiful settings of the wine country and mountains are there year round also! The experience of a true Scottish Links with Bermuda Fairways would be unexpected to someone unfamiliar with bermuda in the winter but the course play is fabulous!
