Staff was great, course not so much!
Booked our round off GolfNow late the night before, and the staff at check-in handled the fact that it didn’t block off there tee sheet without blinking an eye. Very friendly and accommodating. The course was in its last week of operations for the season, but nothing on GolfNow or at the course advised us of that in advance. Greens were like concrete and the traps were so hard you were better off putting out of them. If you’re going to be open for business, maintain the course (greens & sand traps) accordingly. Maintenance staff on the course during play acted like we were in there way!
Nice little course, fairways and greens in excellent shape. Fairway trees dictate shaping of tee shots on several occasions. Island fairway on #9 gets your attention.
Without question, the best kept secret in the desert as the course layout, driving range, pace of play, value, and service are all fantastic!
Really nice place only downside was yardages could not be found.
While this is not the best course in the area, its definitely a fun one that I could play over and over and not get bored. Course conditions were great, tee boxes were level, fairways were perfect and the greens ran true. The staff were also great and made you feel welcome. I wouldnt hesitate to play it again.
There are a few great holes on this course that get you thinking on the tee box. A lot of water and some big trees lining the fairways. It is also nice not having houses lining the holes. It makes for a quite and peaceful round, its not something you see too often in the desert.
They have a decent range and a nice short game area and putting green. Check it out if you get a chance.
I just played this course for the first time on a great Under Par deal on a hot day and read the last two reviews submitted. I was instantly compelled to submit a review and contradict these last two guys and their snobby reviews and who seemingly have golf silver spoons in their mouths and who need to remember what they paid and when. I've played PGA West and Desert Willow and quite a few others in the summer and yes the conditions are better at many other places but to say this is the worst in the area? What a bunch of malarkey. Listen snobs, go back to Riviera. Us regular guys want a great layout, great views, friendly staff, level tee boxes, greens that roll true but we know are summer greens so not perfect, decent fairways and good bunkers. This course is just fine and in fact really fun and lush in many areas. The bunkers were GREAT though one of my attempts to get out wasn't great. I more than got my money's worth and I know what many courses look like after 3 days of 120 degrees. This one looked good. And by the way, grass grows when you water it and there was new growth throughout. Play this course fellas. That's to the rest of you guys out there; to the last two reviewers, remember to have your butler wipe you. And to the members of this course, thanks for letting me enjoy your place with my son. We really liked it.
Played the Blacks (6716/71.8/129) in 3.5 hours as a 2some. The weather was sunny, the temp north of 115 with a little breeze.
Many of the tees had not been maintained in awhile. Decent coverage and reasonably level.
The fairways were decent to play from, they played better than they looked. Every single one had numerous areas that were burned and browned out due to the heat/lack of watering to a specific area. Same for the rough.
The sand traps were poor, not well maintained and inconsistent from trap to trap.
The greens were firm but still putted medium slow and were somewhat bumpy. Not many ball marks, they did hold irons well. Several greens had areas that had not been adequately watered recently and looked dead or dying.
During the summer they close up the place around 1 pm. The customer service was very good, complementary range balls on an all grass range is always nice. Nice even if dated facilities overall. The layout is fairly tight with a fair amount of water coming into play. A few really tough golf holes and a bunch of mediocre ones. Roughly 1/3 of the holes playing right beside the property line, bringing OB prominently into play. Under current playing conditions, not recommended at this time.
Worst Palm Springs course I've played
The only good part of playing this course is now when someone asks what's the worst course in the Desert I've played the answer will be easy. I called the week before playing to ask what condition the course was in realizing that this time of year can be iffy. I was told that except for s couple of the tee boxes it was in good condition. Wrong! Dead tee boxes. Burned out fairways. Greens eaten up or super slow. Weeds growing all around. Got a deal for $37.50 and still felt ripped off. At least we were the only ones foolish enough to be playing this course so our misery only lasted 3 hours....
Good value for money - course in good shape and quite challenging with the water holes.
Excellent challenging day of golf
The course conditions are excellent, the scenery good, and the greens very consistent and true.
A good challenge of golf.
The 9th hole is especially spectacular and cosging.
Your course is superb. The greens and fairways were well groomed, as was the rough. The only criticism I have is the sand traps are not good. Every single trap felt like a concrete surface. Very difficult to blast any shots from the sand. Otherwise, your course is very good.
Beautiful Course Well Worth The Cost
Love this Course, Real Challenge......Best Kept Course
Conditions Conditions Conditions
I got this tee time as a HOT DEAL and it was a good deal. This is the best conditioned gold course that I have played in the Palm Springs area in 3 years of coming to this area. The pro shop staff were polite and attentive. The design is older and not really difficult if you keep your tee shots between the trees, easy to score. The fairways were excellent and the greens were the best I have putted in years, so true, so fast and so difficult. I'd play again in a heartbeat, on another hot deal for our Canadian Dollar exchange rate. Excellent experience and perfect weather.
Gem in the desert
The grounds keeper must work 24 hours because this course is in the best condition of all the courses in the valley.
Teed off at noon. Played in 3 1/2 hrs. Course in great shape, but as with all the Desert courses, way over priced.
