I loved this course, the back 9 kicked my butt.
I think this course is great for the money. I had never played it before but I surely intend to play it again. It is about 1 hour or a little more but definitely worth the driving time. Our son told us about it & I'm sure glad he did.
Course is in GREAT shap!
This course in such great shape. The fairways here put some other courses greens to shame. Front and back 9 plays a lot different then each other. Swing away on the front 9 and play it safe on the back. Lots of dogleg corners. I can't wait to play here again.
Course well maintained and fun to play.
The 3 of players played pretty fast. Nice ending with a par 3 and a birdie.
prestine
As a varsity high school golfer I have played all of the courses in the north State. Wilcox golf course is by far the nicest facility and course I have ever played. The course is immaculate, however if you are a beginner I would recommend playing best ball because the course is as challenging as it is immaculate. Have fun
Very well maintained course and like playing two different courses
Greens and fairways all in great condition. Front nine and back nine very different but that makes playing very interesting and challenging. Really enjoyed the day there.
LOTS OF TREES AND NARROW FAIRWAYS
WILL COME BACK A REALLY GREAT COURSE AND WHAT A BACK NINE!!!
Course is in great shape. Wonderful time!
Challenging 18 hole course. Course is in great shape. Weather was beautiful and play was fast.
Course was in great shape, friendly staff, very enjoyable day.
The large amount of oak trees makes this course demanding. I play from the regular tees and it is the perfect length, just over 6,000 yards. Topography is slightly rolling and it is a "traditional" course and right in front of you....It is in great shape and although it is a private course, everyone was very friendly and i would go back in a heartbeat.
Great old style course
Wilcox Oaks is a well maintained, mature, old style course. It weaves over and through varied and interesting terrain. I found the course callenging but very fair, but wayward drives and/or poor distance control is punished. And if your game is like mine, you will use every trouble shot you have learned in order to get out of the thousand plus trees that line the course. The greens were fast, but true. And the pace of play (early on a Sunday morning) was less than 3 1/2 hours.
A cloudy morning that turned out great!
It doesn't happen often, but I was striking the ball that day.
I was paired with a member of this private club. Jim (member) suggested certain approaches on a few holes, these were very helpful, as yardage doesn't tell the whole story.
The greens were punched the previous week and hadn't been mowed since. With this knowledge or the threat of thunder storms, the club regulars weren't to be found anywhere. We flew around the course in just over 3 hours. The front 9 and back are very different. Better score on the front, because you'll be fighting for your life on the back. The fairways were the best I've ever seen there. Even sandy bumpy greens seemed fair.
Short course but challenging and in pristine condition. Friendly staff, and the members are very pleasant and cordial with visitors.
I really enjoyed this course because of it's challenging layout, beautiful landscape and pristine condition. The greens are very fast, and course management is essential for ball position to the green, from off the tee. This is by far one of the best courses I've played on this year.
Accuracy is a premium at this course.
Shoot a good score on the front nine because the back nine is much more difficult. Greens are slower on the course than at the practice green.
Awesome!!!
Great day. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Challenging course that awards the both risky and timid players.
Don't be fooled by the front 9, the Oaks in the back can chew you up.
I played this course everyday on the High School Golf team. I could not be more pleased to have GOLFNOW.COM as an option. I used to have to go with a member, now, I can be a member for a day! Super cool.
The staff here has ALWAYS treated me like a person, no matter if I was a high school teenager or a 34 year old guy.
Back to course...The back 9 is a different course, irons off the tee unless you have no fear. The greens also have more undulations and can have very tough pins.
I don't want to scare anyone off, GO PLAY IT!!
Challenging greens, nice layout
A combination of a cold, wet winter and dormant grass has left some parts of fairways slick and patchy. Greens were rolling nicely but lots of contour on the back nine plus no knowledge of where to try and put the ball made for some exciting putts. I look forward to playing again in late spring/summer.
GREAT COURSE
SO GLAD THIS COURSE IS NOW ON GOLFNOW. A WELL KEPT COURSE AND VERY FRIENDLY. NOW TAKING LESSONS THERE AND IT HAS IMPROVED MY GAME. JUST NEEDED A LITTLE HELP TO FIX A COUPLE OF ISSUES. 5 STARS ON MY BOOK.. EASY TO PLAN A COUPLE OF GROUPS AND HAVE A FUN PLAY DAY...
Easy to get to
The course is well designed. Very nice greens. Always a lot of wildlife.
Very challenging fun course
Very challenging course especially the back 9. Needs better yardage markers on the back nine, some holes did not have any. Fairways and greens were in good condition. Overall, it is a very challenging course that is fun to play, quite a few elevation changes that were really tough. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the locals on the course were not very friendly as you can tell this is a private course and the people didn't seem to like outsiders, but other than that, it was a very good experience.
