Last time I played course was 1 year ago, course was in good shape
Have not played course in a year, when I played it was a tournamate, it was a good day, course was in good shape, had good day
Rainy day
1.7 inches of rain at course in 24 hours and intermittent light rain when we played but course amazingly still very playable. Always friendly in Newnan.
Orchard
The course played reasonably well under the conditions
Greens
The greens are already in the best shape you will see all year - anywhere.
Great Staff, Tough Greens
This is a nice golf course with wide fairways and well kept greens. I scored above my average, so it was pretty tough. Water comes into play on several holes on the Orchard nine, and the greens throughout are very fast and hard to read. Overall it was a good time.
Good track!
I like this place! I come through here maybe once a year. I've always been treated as a favorite customer. Course has a good and varied layout...enjoyable to play. I have to drive 25 + minutes to get here ,but, It's worth it.
"Golf Now" price makes it an exceptional value.
Orchard Hill GC Entertaining golf
I have player O,H. twice in the last 3 mos. Greens are as good as anybodies. Fast, rolls true, will hole a shot with some spin on it. Winter fairways still
produced good lies. Regular prices a little steep for me, but the Golf-Now rate made it a good price for the course. To enjoy play one of the old 9,s and then the newer "Rock Garden" 9. Like playing two totally different golf courses, but both are really worth playing. I would recommend the course and will be back.
Great value
They are working really hard to clean up brushy areas. The course should be in yip top shape come spring.
Good winter course
A fun, links-style course that plays easier in the winter than other times of the year. Normally if you miss the fairway, you're hosed. But they've kept the rough mowed down and cleaned out some of the worst nettles - so you have a chance at finding your ball and even playing it. The course is up for sale so they're not putting any money into maintenance, although the greens have been in excellent condition. The cart paths are pretty rugged - tree roots raising sections for a heavy washboard effect. Although I haven't done it yet, it probably wouldn't be a bad course to walk - not as hilly as north Georgia courses and not overly far between greens and next tees.
Great value.
Fun course. Challenging but very playable. Great greens. We will be back.
bikini waxed greens
Word to the wise, stay below the hole next time you play Orchard Hills! Their greens have always been some of the most true I have played in Georgia, but yesterday, they had to of been the absolute fastest and truest I have ever played in my visits there. I love this time of year in Georgia. It is when the weekend warriors stay indoors unless it is 60 plus degrees out. If you are lucky enough to secure an early morning round like I did at O.H. I highly recommend it. Was able to get around in less than 3 hours for 18 holes by being one of the 1st groups out for the day. Was treated to the original layout of the Orchard to the Logo, and it didn't disappoint. It truly is a links style in appearance with the mounds, high grass in the distance, and the calf deep rough. Don't worry about trying to find you ball if you hit into the deep stuff, just take a drop, or re-tee if you are a stickler for the rules. Only downside and has been for years are there are a few of the greens that have areas of bare spots. Also there are a few greens where the fringe is bare in spots as well. They are trying to improve that by cutting down some trees to let in more sunlight on the wooded holes. I have heard rumors that the course may be sold down the road for development purposes. I hope this rumor does not hold water, as this is only one of 3 courses in Coweta County that are public, and I really don't care for one of them, which leaves me with only 2.
Excellent Greens
Greens were in great shape and were very fast. Nice Value
Orchard Hills Golf Club
Staff is always super friendly. Played this course several times. The fairways need a little work, but greens are well maintained. There are three nine holes at this course and you'll get a little variety each time you play there. It has a great practice facility also.
Good course for the money
I enjoyed playing the course. For the money is a good deal. It is pretty wide open and hard to get into trouble which is nice sometimes. It is a great course for someone who doesn't play often or is a beginer. If i had a issue with it is was the fact that the bunkers needed raking. They were basically hard packed wet sand/mud. A little raking and they would dry out and you get hit out of them.
Decent course for the money
Paid only $30, course is easily worth that. Greens were in good shape, nice and fast just how I like them
Needs a map of the holes for better tee off location.
great course, get a little turned around everynow and again, but over all a very nice course links style fun to play very enjoyable.
A fun course in need of work
I have played Orchard Hills as long as I've played golf, so I know what to expect from the facility, which is divided into three nines: The Orchard and Logo nines are wide open links-style layouts without the fast fescue fairways (being the South, they're slow bermuda), and unpredictable bounces. The tighter Rock Garden course boasts shorter holes and more tree-lined fairways, where ball placement off the tee is more a priority than the bomber's paradise of the Orchard and Logo.
I played the Orchard and Rock Garden courses and was surprised at how much the conditioning has deteriorated over the past few years. The bent grass greens are still fast and true, but the tee boxes, fairways, and fringes are dotted with ugly weeds, and I found myself pulling up a few while waiting on the tee boxes. The irony was that the maintenance crew seemingly followed me on every hole I played, and one motored across the front of the fifth green at the Orchard as I pulled the trigger on my approach shot. They seemed oblivious to the fact there were paying customers trying to enjoy their round of golf.
Having said all of that, the layout can still be quite fun to play - the par 5's on the Orchard nine are wide open and quite reachable in two shots, setting up great scoring opportunities. The par 3 holes are tough but fair: the second hole being an uphill shot requiring an extra club, and the fourth plays over a pond with a two tiered green. On the Rock Garden nine, you have to pick your spots to score - the short dogleg par 4 second only requires a hybrid or mid iron off the tee, leaving a 100 yard approach to a longish green. The fourth is another short par-4 that bombers can use driver on (my drive landed fifteen yards short of the green, requiring a short pitch to a very accessible hole location), and the ninth hole is a wide open hole similar to the Orchard and Logo nines, requiring only a short iron approach to a large green.
The course has lost none of its fun factor, but could stand to use some extra TLC if it is to regain its reputation as one of the better courses on the south side of Atlanta. That maintenance crew that seemed to be everywhere while I played should take those words to heart.
Links design
27 holes. I played logo and rock garden 9's. most all of the greens were in bad distress(fungus and disease), large amounts of crab and other bad grasses in the fairways. Tee markers on rock garden were off to the side on each tee box like maintenance hadn't been around for awhile. A really great links layout, if someone would take care of the course it would be a lot of fun to play. In it's current condition I would never pay their full green fee.
