Fun Track with Great Conditions
Corral DeTierra is a fun track that makes you think and plot your shots as you go around. The course is set in the foothills off of highway 68 in the sunny part of the Monterey peninsula. There are several elevations changes throughout the course coupled with a number of lakes to offer some fun and excitement to your round. The real challenges come from the number of creek crossings in the fairways. Being at the end of the summer they were all dry creeks so playing out of them was doable. However they are strategically placed right where your drives will end up forcing you to either lay up or grip it and rip it!
Course conditions are excellent tee to green as excepted from a high class private course. Sand traps were superb and greens rolled fast and true with a perfect amount of undulations to make it challanging yet manageable.
Whereas there are a few houses surrounding the course, they are set back so you don't get the feeling you're right in someone's back yard.
The food at the restaurant was great with a number of quality food choices beyond the traditional hot dog, burger and club sandwich found at so many places.
Overall it is a great course and setting. I would have to play it again before I can say that I would prefer it over Quail or Carmel Valley Ranch.
