A hot day
It was a hot deal and the heat was on.
Today was by far the hottest day I have played.
The course had beed aereated. The holes on the green were extra large. I played 9 holes and would have played the back 9 if it had been cooler.
Definitely a nice course. I will come back to play early morning or late afternoon.
All You Want
Tee to green the course was excellent. I found the greens deceptively quick. Bunkers, rough and pin placements made you strategize your tee shots and approaches. Pay attention and keep focused or “Dubby” will eat you alive. We had a great day. The place was packed but but the pace was quick. It took my wife and I 3 hours an 15 minutes to play the 18 holes. We waited maybe 10 minutes total for the round. Dubsdread has everything you need to work on your game. First class practice area and a great lounge “The Taproom” fir great food and beverages. Staff was super nice and the beverage cart came by frequently. Played here many times since the 1980’s but now we aren’t in Orlando but Tavares. Dubsdread is worth the drive! Go on out wherever you are in Central Florida or Oflando you won’t be disappointed. Regards, Lyle and Eve Williams
Good course, no waiting- GPS on carts. No weeds in sand traps, greens in great shape, fairways good- many divots not sanded by players was sad to see.
I like Dudsdread even though its tight and short...Its a an old design, lots of historic homes to look at, good turf, and a dedicated staff....I do recommend it, but be prepared that its always crowded, and the pace of play for a short course is quite slow....
Good value, good conditions, tight course
This is a tight course, not very long. Hit irons or fairway woods off most tees, not many places to use a driver. Playing surface (tee boxes, fairways, first cut of rough, greens, fringe, and bunkers) all in good to excellent condition. Greens healed but some residual from aeration still exists. Not much in terms of views, as it's a 90 year old course that's fully lined with homes and streets. Excellent practice facility (range balls included in price we paid). No drinking water on course and didn't see beverage cart until we were on our 15th hole. Carts with GPS were excellent and accurate. Staff all helpful and friendly, except no help available with bags before or after round (load and unload your own, clean your own). Would recommend course for higher handicappers or players looking to play a course where accuracy is more important than distance.
Dubsdread June 30, 2018
Actually teed off a little early for our 7:18 tee time which was great, but it did not allow any time to hit a few range balls. Pace of play was excellent, course conditions were great, but a little soggy, greens were smooth but a little on the slow side. Dubsdread is a fun course to play with the variety of doglegs. Par 4s can be very challenging and long.
The foursome enjoyed the round and lunch and beer at the TapRoom.
Great course. The greens were in maintenance but still good.
Challenging course, makes you think
I have played this course a few times before and it is a challenge. They have a wonderful practice facility with a large driving range, large chipping and bunker practice area, and large putting green on the opposite side of the clubhouse. I am a scratch golfer and played the black tees, about 6100 yards, but plays much longer. There are not a lot of holes to just grab driver and let 'er rip with bunkers, hazards, and narrow fairways. I hit a lot of 3-woods and hybrids off the tee to try to play smart and still left myself 150+ into greens. The greens had recently been aerated, so they used the par aid 15" holes, which really helped pace of play. If you are a local or someone visiting the area this course is definitely one to add to your list.
