Salinas Fairways Golf Course

I was surprised at the quality of the greens considering the low cost of my round. The layout is straightforward, wide-open in most places, and a very easy walk. The challenge comes on the back side with a strong prevailing wind on 14, 15 and 18 adding up to two-club lengths to your iron shots. If you don't mind the occasional airplane taking off and the police working on the defensive driving (just off the 13th hole), you will not find a better value on the peninsula.

Great value. And the greens are always in great condition. Very friendly staff and nice breakfast and lunch in the restaurant without breaking the bank on cost. Not the most beautiful layout, but the course is very well kept.

This is a great course for the money. Not too challenging with wide open fairways. This is a long but easy course to walk but made the pace of play pretty slow. There was a foursome walking ahead of me and backed things up, especially for a Wednesday morning. I love to try and play this course as much as possible because the conditions are always kept great.

A nice walking course with wonderful course conditions

I had to drop some money off to my contractor, who's office is 2 blocks from this course so I made him come out and play. We used the Golf Moose coupon so it was only $40 for the two of us with a cart. I've never played here but I've heard from others it has decent greens.

First the layout. As Sixpez mentioned, it's a yawner. Front nine has one little lake in front of a par 3 green that makes things interesting otherwise the front 9 is just a parkland setting with some trees to try and keep you honest. The back nine is WIDE open with the only excitement being a long par 4 with a pond in front of the green to make things interesting. And really that was only a challenge because of a strong headwind.

Conditions wise, greens were decent. They rolled smooth at a medium pace and held approach shots very well. There's nothing to the greens as they are all single tiered with just a traditional back to front minimal slope (for drainage).

Skirt area around the greens was lush offering a good lie 90% of the time. Sand traps were surprisingly nice. I was in two and both had great soft sand. Not the pure white pristine sand found at high end courses but definitely soft fluffy sand and very playable.

Fairways were ok. Green for the most part and offered a good hitting surface with a few thin areas here and there.

Most tee boxes were lush. The par 3 tee boxes were ok with a couple of them having excessive divot damage.

No sand in the carts for divots which I thought was odd. Clubhouse is an old rectangle shoe box building with no aesthetic appeal. Check in was super quick and easy. For $20 it makes a decent little "kill some time" course. Actually, layout aside, the course conditions are definitely worth the $20

Never played before. Surprised how nice this course was. The greens were in great shape and were about a 12 in speed. Would have to play a few times to get use to the greens. Definitely would recommend to anyone int the area.

We were able to book last second and actually enjoyed playing this course more. Its been several years since played last. Pro shop employee was very friendly and helpful. Will play again!

Great course to play in, Greens were awesome and fairways where wide open had a wonderful time playing this course. Not a course for people who need quietness. All and all I had a great Time.

My Golf Buddies choose to travel 40 miles to the Course because:
1. The Fairway drains well after a rain
2. Its a great bargain.
3. The layout is challenging enough for Senior Players.
4. The greens are kept up.
5. The staff is very helpful and courteous.

I've been playing this course since the early 1970's. off and on. Took a 15 year hiatus from golf and just retuned to it about 4 months ago. This course had a multi million dollar renovation some 10-15 years ago I believe it was. It improved the course. The course is challenging yet playable for the beginning to intermediate golfer. Green fees are on par or cheaper with other municipal courses in the area. The course can get somewhat crowded at times.

Course in nice condition. Greens fast. Course layout, glad to play with someone who knew the course. Would play it again.
