This is an interesting course
The is an interesting course and a short course so expect to have fun and score well. The layout is challenging but fun. The trees can make life miserable so you need to hit it straight. There is water and there is sand but I found the trees to be the most difficult challenge. The course, except for the greens, was not in great shape. I think there has been a shortage of rain. Play was slow due to two parties of 6 and 8 ahead of us. There was no Marshall so things moved a little slow so that all could share in identifying the put line. Again as I found on another courses in the area, players don't respect the course. Specifically, it would appear that few individuals fix their ball marks on the green or rake the sand after use. I watched as folks drove over ropes or onto greens. It was like the wild west out here today.
This could be a very nice course
It most certainly lacks for good grounds keeping and most likely water. Layout isn't too bad and it certainly has some very interesting features.
Rude staff
Went to play a round with my father in law who has two tumors on his liver and is waiting for a transplant so his health is not that great. We were rudely told multiple times by the Marshall to hurry up. Then after the front nine was finished the food lady gave us a choice of a sandwich or hot dog and that's it. Waiting for our food the Marshall again complained to us. The hot dog was nasty even covered in ketchup and mustard. My father in law hasn't golf in about 2 years and I hope this isn't his last memory of golfing. The Marshall needs to be careful about his customers. I would never play that course again it's a dump. The condition of the course matches its staff.
Beautiful day to play
Enjoy playing this course. Expected a bit better greens. Pretty soft and most all had numerous ball marks left unrepaired, also noticed groups parking carts on tee box and driving rigjt up to the greens. Really need to have a marshal out on the course to prevent the damage being done on an otherwise fun 0lsce to play.
Very nice outing
A very enjoyable day. We were greeted by a very friendly, professional staff who made us feel welcome. The course was in good shape for mid-winter and the greens and traps were very good. Pace of play was good--we were a twosome following a five-some who moved along fairly well. The fairways are generally wide but mature, overhanging trees added to the difficulty. Good shots were rewarded and poor shots could be salvaged in most cases. Definitely an outstanding value.
About What One Should Expect for $30
For $30 (give or take) for unlimited golf on a weekend you could do much worse. For $30 you should not expect this course to be in 3 or 4 star condition - and it isn't. Anyone giving this course 4 or 5 stars for "course conditions" has never played a 4 or 5 star course! About 1/2 the greens are in very nice condition, the other 1/2 have areas of dirt and are extremely bumpy. Overall the greens were slow, but very acceptable (again for a $30 course). The fairways were completely dormant Bermuda, with no definition whatsoever between the fairways and the rough. The fairways had rodent holes, mounds of dirt, branches, weeds, piles of grass clippings - you name it! The tees were uneven and basically dead - some with large areas of dirt. But the course layout was interesting for a small muni, and the staff was extremely friendly. Overall, not a bad experience - I will play here again. But I would never pay over $35.
Great course to learn and practice playing golf
This course had nice greens and nice for golfers who are learning to play. Just remember to observe if anyone is having to wait behind you. Enjoy your round but wait on the next tee after you hit your tee shot for the person or persons to hit their tee shots and play though. Rushing makes it unenjoyable and allowing faster players to play though is being courteous and considerate. Everyone can have fun and play at their own pace. Remember it is not playing just in front of the group or person BEHIND you.
Need 6 hours to play this course.
Greens are in poor shape for this time of the year. Fun little course to play late in the day but don't go before 1 PM. They have "Skins Games" almost every day of the week and they play fivesomes. They will not let you play thru even if you are a single, and it will take 5 hours to play on a good day but expect 5 1/2 to 6 hours. The staff will not do anything about slow play. Complained to the manager "Frank", and he suggested not to come during the morning because "they are slow" I was blown away! I suggest Shandin Hills, Yucaipa Valley, or several nearby courses that are better and just as affordable and the speed of play is 4 1/2 hours on a bad day.
Nice course
Was busy cause it was Veterans Day. Fun course, not too long, several dogleg lefts. Most fairways need to to drive left side. Overall nice course
San Bernardino Golf Club
Course plays 5730 from blue tees older course nice features large trees lakes are located in spots were you will need to lay up on some holes , for longer hitters you will need to shape shots from tees 220 yard doglegs or lay up to make doglegs over all good course fairways nice and green greens are a bit slow a few had some repair work but for 30 bucks on Sunday all you can play cant beat it.
That water
Good course, had a earlier start time than normal but wanted to play the full 18. Starter was super friendly , hit the range first to warm up, looked good. Back and forth play that meant a couple other fairway shots, but overall good play. Couple of greens were looking not so happy. Water was clear enough to see my ball.....yeah. Bridge to the back back holes was interesting, we thought the no trespassing sign followed by a next hole this way sign was fun. Food back at the club was decent, frozen to cooked burger, chili seemed made in house. Good time!
course
narrow fairways- should think before using driver on every hole. look before you tee off. what did the designer tell you to do.
San Bernardino Public Course
The staff was the friendliest I have dealt with in a long time. Great people.
We played starting at 0630 and it was already 89 degrees. The city is under a 25% water reduction so you must take this into account.
The greens were soft but very playable and the fairways were great. The rough is pretty thick and if you miss the fairway and are unsure of where your ball actually went it can be challenging to locate. The course has some great holes that require thought on shot placement (something I need to work on) and also some long wide open fairways. This course has a great mix of challenging and fun holes. This will most likely become my new home course, even though it is an hour away.
The only issue I do have are the bunkers great placement however they have the same issue as most of the other courses in the area, the sand is a course sand and not the fine fluffy stuff you find at your higher end courses. This is a small issue but not a deterrent.
Good value
This course was fun to play and well worth the cheap green fees. I would recommend this course.
Challenging course
This is a very deceiving course. From the road it looks to be quite easy, however, it is quite challenging if not always down the middle of the fairway. The greens are in pretty good shape and so are the fairways for this time of year in So Calif. The only one part of the course that needs attending to is the bunkers. They are lousy, dry hard and rocky. Other than that is a pleasant course to play especially for the value.
Tournament Friendly
Every year the family holds a annual golf tournament here at its the best.
Great price for the course
this is a great deal for those of you who want something a bit challenging. You need to plan your shots, since water and sand can add difficulty to your next shot.
Nice course for the value
Nice course to practice and use your short game skills. weekend all you can play for 18$ is very good value. pace of play was great on saturday afternoon 4hr less for 18holes of play. The fairways and around the green needs work.
San bernadino
Double watered because heat going to be over 100, went out at 6:20 so very wet.
