Great Location, fun short course
Nature at its finest, we saw a bobcat and a family of deer. Wonderful locale nestled at the base of the foothills with the river running in/alongside several holes. Length is on the short side but the narrow holes/trees/river add challenge.
Overall - 2, Usually on par with many offerings in the area. The average design and poor conditions the day we played is enough to drag the rating down, regardless of the setting. Average(3) when conditions are good.
Pace - 4, Sub 4hr round was extended (a lot) the last three holes by a group of beginners.
Course conditions - 2, The 1st and 17th greens were reseeded and very shaggy/bumpy, from what I assume to be some serious damage/fungus? Rest of course was typical winter conditions with areas that were poor even for winter.
Staff - 4, Friendly and helpful, with an amazing ability to recognize even occasional patrons.
Value - 2, Difficult (impossible?) to find deals, prices are higher than most other local courses.
Food - 3, Small bar/grill with typical offerings. Good inside seating with view of the river.
Facilities - 3, Older well maintained, love the stone work on parts of the buildings. Small grass range.
This is a course I recommend for the rotation for those in the area. Those traveling this is probably a one and done.
Fun at Sherwood
I always enjoy playing Sherwood Forest it’s such a great layout in a beautiful setting. Course was soggy after heavy weekend rain but still very playable. Once they cut the greens a bit closer so they run a bit faster that will be awesome!
Sure woods
Beautiful established trees for overhead cover through a lot of the course which is rare in the valley. Nice tight fairways with enjoyable course layout. Greens can be hit or miss through the season, but for the cost, this is one of my favorite courses around to play.
Speed up Greens & Pace of Play
I love Sherwood Forest GC & they are really trying to get the Course in shape. But today the greens were super slow & nobody in our group could get the ball to the hole. Also pace of play horrible it took us 5 hours to play & we waited for a group ahead of us that hadn’t even teed off & that was on every hole! Please mow the greens so they have an acceptable pace & get a Marshal out on the Course to speed up play!
Much improved
When I played this course in was in the est I have seen in years. Maintenance crew is doing a great job in maintaining it.
It is located right off Kings River in Sanger. Beautiful Area
I would recommend giving it a try for yourself
The green
The green are being work on , lot of sands but it will be nice once they are done.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work on improving the greens. We look forward to welcoming you back to a more beautiful course soon.
Sure A Long Round at Sherwood
I have been playing at Sherwood for over 50 years.
It’s an amazing golf course with exceptional beauty. A challenging layout & enjoyable to play. And it’s nice to see that the Course conditions are improving greatly. My main complaint is the pace of play. Our round today took over 5 hours which is totally unacceptable! Please get a Marshal out on the Course to speed up play. Today we skipped playing the 17th Hole to go around a group that held up play for the entire Golf Course & we played the 18th Hole & the Group we went ahead of was just teeing off on 18. And even after skipping the 17th Hole our Round still took us over 5 hours to play.
You’ve got to figure out a way to speed up play!
We are grateful to hear about your long-term dedication and enjoyment at Sherwood, and acknowledge your concerns regarding the pace of play. Thank you for your feedback.
Pace of play
Need to get a Marshall out there to push these people along. Two groups in front of us were two holes behind slowing everybody up. We skipped whole number 17 to go to 18 and we were still four hours and 40 minutes into our around!
We're sorry to hear about the pace of play issues you experienced, and appreciate your suggestion about having a Marshall to improve the flow. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Sherwood Forest Golf Club
Played Sherwood today and the golf course is looking very nice! The driving range , chipping green and newly remodeled putting green are in excellent shape as well.. Definitely a fun golf course that will test your game. Great place to play or just get a quick practice session in..
Nice course
Winter golf but the fairways are decent . Greens are getting better but had a little sand in spots. Still very puttable. It's a tight , tree lined course which makes it a challenge to hit some fairways.
Terrible pace of play
3 hours and 15 after our tee time we were still waiting at tee box 10 to play the back 9. Ended up leaving. Just a terrible pace of play. Course completely backed up. Had a long wait every hole to tee off, then had golfers behind us hitting into us multiple times. After talking to them they stopped. Coarse was in fair condition. 6 to 7 hours to play a round of 18 is way too long.
We apologize for the long wait time you experienced during your visit and thank you for sharing your feedback. We will work to address the pace of play to improve our customers' experience.
Fun round of golf. Good layout
Fun course. I played with a couple locals who helped make it fun. Tight in spots, and is a good test of your game. The grass was a little thin, but it is early in the year so it was to be expected.
We apologize for the slow greens and pace of play during your recent visit; your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve. We're committed to addressing these issues and hope to provide a better experience in the future. Thank you for letting us know.
