San Juan is in great shape
I hadn't played here in years and decided to give it a go. The course is in great shape and the greens are rolling true. The course layout is a challenge in that there are several long distances between greens and the next tee boxes, so it is almost impossible to walk. The variety of holes and the challenges are excellent, however. You have to hit every club in your bag. They have a nice clubhouse with a 19th hole that serves great food and drink. A great value for your golfing money!
The wind blows
The course was in fine condition but there was a stiff wind that affected most shots and even some putts. I can handle rain and cold but the wind makes this course rather difficult for me.
Evil green keeper at work
There was a tournament in the morning before I played so the course was set up to be more difficult than usual. Whoever picked the pin positions was just plain evil. I can't say it was unfair, but with the overcast conditions it was not easy to read the greens. I will be back, humbled.
Still a great value
Busy day at the course and the pace was slow. A marshal on the course keeping things moving would be a great idea.
The course is in decent shape. Greens and fairways looking good, tee boxes could use some attention but no big deal. Booked a 12:00pm tee time on line, checked in at the pro shop and turns out I was bumped to 12:18. When I questioned the change I was told that was the time I had booked. Checked my email and I was right. As a single I don’t mind some changes to accommodate others, but don’t tell me I booked a time that I didn’t.
great course close to the ocean
Always enjoy playing here, not too hard, not too easy and almost always a great temperature.
Sunday afternoon
It was typical of SJH as far as pace of play. 4:30-5 hours is par for this course. I was relatively surprised for a Sunday afternoon at the pace. We literally waited for every shot. It felt like 6 hours but was 4:38. Punched greens ... fun course
aerated greens but still fun
Greens were just aerated, but always a fun course to play. Teed off at 1:10 on a Saturday so was pretty busy; however the pace of play was decent. Fun layout and awesome bar/restaurant
Fun course - keep It that way
One of my favorite courses to play during the week. Great conditions, friendly staff, solid ameninities. Wish they would focus on maintaining pace of play more often. I’d recommend this course but not on weekend prime time due pace of play concerns. Overall a 4/5.
Punched no prob
This course always has a good vibe. Reminds me how important course management is
greens were punched
It would be nice to be notified that the greens were punched and we were supposed to play the back nine twice...I quit after the first 9.
Good mostly wide open course.
Everything was good and could have been excellent, but we had to play the front nine twice as they were aerating the back nine. This was not noted in the on-line posting nor at the golf course and we weren't told as the other twosome had been and went to the back nine and had to turn around. The pace of play the 1st time around was good but the second time around we had to wait on every tee box and every shot into the green and we were a foursome following a twosome? Must have been some additional players on the course the 2nd nine?? Still a good day on a good course with some good company and almost perfect weather.
No control over pace of play
We were scheduled to tee off at 12:09. We met the other couple and were looking forward to playing with them. The men had just need off when the starter said there was a problem as they had an extra golfer at the same time! The other couple was told to go ahead while we were put back to play with a new person This resulted in an extra group on the course. Play was very slow! After 12 holes we got amessage saying we were. 45 minutes behind. We were waiting on almost every shot. Since no one was on 16 we decided to skip 3 holes! It still took 4.5 hours! The pro shop offered no apology.
