It's fun course to play with mixture of some easy holes but narrow fairways.
The weather was perfect in the low 90's with light breeze when we teed off but got warmer at the end, making the playing a little challenging in the second half. Staff was professionally courteous. The pace of the play was a bit slow, following a small tournament group. The fairways were narrow with trees making it challenging but I hit straight most of the time so it wasn't much of an issue. In fact I enjoyed playing the round with a good score. I would love to come back any time. Thanks GolfNow. Com.
Good lay out. The greens were smooth but lots of ball mark. The rough was tall and difficult. The fairways were in good shape. The sand traps could use some work.
Simple flat muni inspired course
I thought it quite strange you start off playing here and have people playing side by side with you from the 10th hole,The course runs parallel with itself which is quite confusing with people from each hole on each others fairway I must say I was very confused at first.Plus they over book so your waiting to shoot each shot which is always frustrating. Its a walker friendly course for sure as its very flat and runs side by side with itself most of the holes.I never saw a cart girl so stock up at the clubhouse,Most holes straight forward with small doglegs a couple water hazards but that's about it.Could use more sand in the bunkers but some are playable, greens were in good condition with small contours to make it interesting. To far for me to drive for this level course
Course was in great shape. Greens are fast but true. Food was great at the turn.
Best Greens Around! For a reason
Outstanding course with beautiful, quick and smooth greens. I had the pleasure of playing with a course Marshall and one of their Greenskeepers whom both displayed great pride and dedication to maintaining their gem of a track! Will be playing again very soon!
Best Course around
Best Course for the money. Very good staff, course was great. Will be back soon. Don't miss this one.
Fun course at a great price
Course was in excellent shape. Plenty of trees that can get you in trouble, but also provide great shade as it gets really hot in Stockton. Greens were in great shape. Bunkers were probably my only complaint. Nice layout and fun and challenging course. I'll definitely play there again, especially at such a low price and good pace of play for a weekend.
Road Trip Elkhorn
The other night while looking for places to play I decided to step out from my local solano county golf course circle for change of sceneory... so off to Stockton I went and when I arrived at Elkhorn I was happy I took the drive.
The atttentant in the pro shop was very nice, the 4 dollar warm up bucket was great, and the all grass driving range was good too. How ever you can't hit driver at the range, which was ok wirh me.
The course was in great shape from tee boxes, fareways, and greens. It's a sneaky hard course, it can lull you into "safe" misses and when you walk up to the green you relize that the green is protected by water. Plus you'll notice that the fairways look wide open until you roll up and look for your ball and see that the rough pinches into the fairway at about 175 yards and your now in the rough. At that point you learn that this more of a target course va a grip it and rip it course.
I will come back out and play Elkhorn again and I suggest you all give it a try as well.
nice fairway
I forgot my gap wedge on 7th hole and the people from behind me returned it to club house. Nice people and thank you.
A must play
It was my first time playing the course, the whether wasn't the best, but I will be back this summer for sure.
Elkhorn Country Club
Course was in excellent shape for this time of year, especially the fairways which were the best I have played on in several months. Due to a back up on the first tee, the starter moved us over to the 10th tee and we were able to start right away. Kudos to him.
Great experience.
When rating this course I would say that even though it allows Public play is still leans toward the Private side when looking at quality. The greens were great, though I hear they will get better from some of the members. I the fairways were firm, which is a huge thing considering the rain we have gotten this winter. And the challenge was tough but fair. The range was a nice place to get warmed up. And, the food was great. I didn't play very well but it wasn't because the course was too difficult. I will defiantly be back and use the knowledge I learned from this round. Oh, and the staff was fantastic. I am considering becoming a member because my day went so well.
Elk Horn
I only give 5 stars if it's an ocean course.
The greens are in great shape and play fast. They will break and are very true.
Course is worth the money and staff A+!
Pace was very good for a Saturday at 1pm.
They let us know the heavy rains have put them behind on cutting the rough down. Slow your swing down and it won't be an issue!
No one yelled "Fore" tells me everyone was having Golf God Day or the dress code keeps the "Fore" players at Mickeys Grove!
This course draws a different crowd as you don't see trash and beer cans over flowing trash cans etc. They even had Professional Shoe shiner on site. I will bring my work shoes next time.
