Put this on your Golf Now List
Sunnyvale course is a must play and put on your golf now go to. Make sure to book most days by 1. Otherwise you may not finish. Always great putting greens Tee Boxes are chewed up. Balls are still carrying after they land. Until heavier rains.
Finally a restaurant and snack bar are open.
We got severely rained out on the 3rd hole, and the pro shop worker was not willing to give us a rain check. Not even willing to talk about it.
Fun but drought-stricken
Sunnyvale Municipal is a fun enough course to play if you're a near-noob like me, but with the drought almost all of the water hazards are dry which makes the course deceptively easy. Some of the fairways feature bone-dry patches with no grass at all, though on the flip side the bunkers are essentially packed sand so easy to escape.
Just bad
Played this course two times and booked three. Both times pace of play was terrible and too windy to get any kind of solid drive. Also they are not worth the price if you play twilight, because they do not let you play till sundown. Also charge you full price for carts and your subject to whenever the employees want it back and not sundown. I was told by the employee it's " so they can clean up and go home early" well I don't pay full price to not get the full experience, so I left and will never book here again. Also every employee I've come across here has been rude and uninviting. Locals can have this place, and if the city of Sunnyvale turned this place into a parking lot and I wouldn't even bat an eye. This place is not worth the money or time go elsewhere
Ok track but needs some love/care
Course needs some love and care on fairways and tee boxes as well as greens. People don't seem to fix their ball marks out here... DEFINITELY get a bacon-wrapped hot dog at the snack shack, EVERY course should have this amazing item. Course isn't super long from the Blues but somehow I found myself hitting driver on many holes.
Bad conditions and show play
The round started by teeing off twenty minutes after my tee time. We were backed up from the start and it got slower the further into the round we got. Almost three hours just to play ten holes and the fairways were in bad shape on top of the slow play. Marshalls did nothing to speed up the play.
Value for money for a 18H round
Putting green is not the best I have played but good enough for me in the vicinity. Fairway is acceptable. If you ball lands in the fairway most of the time, then you will enjoy your game. Else you will have a tough time hitting the balls from the gravels.
Defiantly a muni
Tee boxes were uneven and poorly positioned. Fairways were decent but if you were off there were so many patched up gofer holes and dirt. Greens were actually the best part of the course, ball rolled well and very receptive to a decent shot. Pace of play could have been great if it wasn’t for the group in front who were about two holes behind.
Open fairways
Played in 94’ degree weather - luckily there was shade and enough wind to enjoy the round. Course layout was good, open fairways and flat green that rolled nicely. Pace of play was slow, I played in a twosome and it took us 4.5 hours to finish. Felt like we waited more then playing. Nice course for beginners
