The Club at Savannah Harbor is steeped in Southern charm, offering dramatic views that span from the surrounding wetlands of the Back River to Savannah's famous Historic District. Sam Snead and Bob Cupp designed the golf course. Their ultimate goal was to bring to life the philosophy of "risk and reward." For example, a well executed shot placed near a hazard is rewarded with less club to the green or a better approach angle, or even both. The putting surfaces have gentle transitions to different pin locations, making them more traditional than modern. The designers incorporated another classic design element, the greens have subtle roll-offs or collars that fall away, a feature of golf courses from the 1930s and 40s. Golfers can also use the club's large, duel-ended practice facility.

Overpriced

This course feels like a decent $60 municipal course. Not worth the $120 I paid.

The greens look overdue for a redo. Patches of at least three types of grass on most of them. They don't roll too badly though.

Special shout out to the staff. They were all helpful and very friendly.

I liked this course

I played after the course had rain for 3-4 days in a row so it was wet, but not bad. Greens needed mowing and lots of Po patches, but a couple of good warm weeks should take care of all the current negatives. Well designed. Really liked the back nine.

Excellent course. Only negative involved being slotted behind two or three foursomes who arrived together and played at a snails pace. My tee time was 1:10 and decided to leave at 5:30 after only 16 holes. Carts were to be in by 6 and the group ahead of us was still waiting for their buddies to putt on 17, so there’s no way leaving cost anything but a very rushed 17th hole after waiting another 20-25 minutes.

Not Impressed

We were scheduled to tee off at 1:21. The starter informed us that we were moved to 1:30. Then he left his starter position and never came back to tell us to go to the first tee so we went on our own only to find two other guys there who also said they were at 1:30. They told us someone else was going to join them so we went ahead. We never saw anyone else join them so we assume they only did that because my wife was playing with me and they didn't want to play with a female.

Long and fun!

Still has dormant winter grass in the rough areas, but definitely new grass in coming in good. Just need a warm snap.

Poor course conditions

We booked through golf now, but it turned out the day we were playing they were spraying for weeds. Not using a tractor with little or no treads on tires but a gigantic dump truck with major treads on tires making a mess and tearing up every fairway as well as the tee boxes.
Also cart path only
We should have been informed of this either be the golf course or golf now

Club at Savannah

Friendly staff. Gorgeous course. Whites are a little long for most seniors. A hybrid of green and white tees would fix that problem. Great pace of play and great layout. Bring your “A” game

Slow play

We had a 1:57 tee time and the first was backed up so we teed off 20 minutes late. Play was very slow and not one ranger was around to keep things on track. We were unable to finish our round (completed 15 holes) due to darkness. Then the clubhouse announced they want the carts in by 5:30. I’m a fan of this course but they should keep play moving better.
