Worth playing for under $40. Wouldn’t play if it’s more than $50
Played when it wasn’t crowded so pace of play was good. Tee box uneven and greens not uniform. Good layout. Not much choices for food or drinks.
Should be called hidden gem
Interesting Palmer layout, very much target golf with quite a few forced carries and some blind shots. That being said I played this type of course quite a bit for many years being from Northern California and am pretty used to it and the challenges they present. That being said I would go back in a heartbeat. The pace of play was quite good, it’s tucked out of the way so I would imagine they get mostly regular and local traffic. Greens were fast but not diabolical, they had been punched recently but were recovering nicely and were very true considering. Tee boxes were a little less than stellar, but they have a grass driving range which, for me, will make up for a little thing like having to take an extra couple of seconds to find a good spot for the peg. All in all fun course that’s challenging but not absurdly so for the mid-handicapper. But most definitely not for beginners
Wow,
For an area that’s been slaughtered by the weather Hiddenbrooke shines . It was a little wet, but preferred lies were stared, and greens were top notch!! Thanks Arnie!!!
Zero Visibility
The course was in moderate condition.
The Tee boxes were in average condition. They could use some care.
The fairways were in fair condition. They definitely use maintenance. Lots of divots and bare areas.
The greens were in good condition. I would not suggest any improvements to them. Truly ran at a 10.
Knowing the area I would have thought that the course would have some type or marker for target lines. I would suggest putting a laser on the flag poles so people know where they are to aim.
Ridiculous
Our tee time was at 7:18am. Just when we payed they let us know we would be going out at 7:30am due to frost. Every half hour the came out and told us there were pushing us back another half hour because of the cold. It was sunny and wasn’t frosty. We finally left at 9am because we had already had our tee off pushed back several times. As we were leaving, one of the employees informed us that they’ve done this to people without notice for two weeks straight. Why allow people to book early times if they already intended to push back. Ridiculous.
Nice course.
One of the best course to play when in the Vallejo, American Canyon, Napa area.
No more Bambi.....
I'll continue playing Hiddenbrooke weekly, but as stated before I'm not happy about them removing so many bunkers. I know it was to save money on bunker maintenance (and to make the course easier so as to get more play), but I don't believe it should still be called a Palmer design. The great layout is still the same, but the strategy required has been reduced, since avoiding bunkers is really not much of an issue any longer. True, the few remaining bunkers are now better maintained and they're putting more money into repariing the teeboxes, but I am (and will continue to be) missing the true, original Arnold Palmer 4-5 Star design. Oh, well. It's still a fun, challenging course to play in beautiful, natural surroundings. Though, I'm afraid the deer that fled during the digging/dirt movement and removal of their natural habitat (many trees) will never return. That's also a shame. Bye-bye Bambi.
Hiddenbrooke
The worst shape I have ever seen an Arnold Palmer course. Greens were ok(aerated a month ago) but the tee boxes and fairways were poorly maintained. Too many players on the course, too close together. Played 5 holes at a perfect pace then waited on every shot for the next 13 holes.
Be careful booking afternoon tee times, we waited one hour for a frost delay
Be careful booking tee times here, we had a 12:24 tee time and didn’t start until an hour later due to a frost delay the course had that morning. They said they emailed about it but I don’t think gold now reservations were notified. I never received notice ahead of time and booked over a week in advance. Course was nice otherwise though.
