Beautiful day, wonderful course
It was such a delight to play on and around green grass! Course was in great shape. Breaks on greens take some experience to master. We really enjoyed our day and the 1-hour drive from Santa Barbara. Will do it again, for sure!
What a find!! Great value.
It was a pleasure to play this magnificent classic golf course which is carved out of a natural setting in the middle of no where. Peaceful because the majestic trees lining each hole wrap you in seclusion. Look forward to playing again.
Hacked it up
I played the worse round of golf I have ever played in my entire life. It could be a combo of an extreme hangover or just me being an extremely bad golfer. That being said, the experience at Marshallia was excellent. Don in the pro shop was very courteous and patient when I forgot my Golfnow confirmation. We got a fire sale so scored a 2-some for like 75% off with a cart. Course was in great condition and there were no groups in front of us or behind us. Finished the round in about 3 hours despite me shooting a 103 and averaging about 2.5 putter launches per 9 holes. Great experience, I will be back.
fun course
long and challenging. good bargain. First timer but I will play again
Tough course
The course is a good challenge for any golfer, I found it to have no senior tees, which at 60 made it a real challenge for myself. I found myself hitting many three woods on my approach shots which left me with more chips than putts. Plan to play it again.n
Fun tough tree lined layout
I really like the course and if it was in good condition I would equate it with any of the other courses in the area.
Wine tasting segway
I found the course to be a fun outing with the wife, she actually had a better round because the reds were 50=75 yrds closer. The cafe didn't open until 10AM and we got there at 8:30, they also didn't allow us to order food from the grill even though there was really no one else on the course when we came through. I would play this course again when I am in the area.
Play it if you can
My dad helped build this golf course back in the late fifties when he was assigned To Vandenberg A.F.B. as a young Captain and Missile Training Officer. The Air Force does it right, first they build the golf course then the runways. The Commanding General had all hands out there with shovels and axes and along with the civilian crew and they built an outstanding track. I know the course has gone downhill some in recent years because of lack of water but it is still worth the drive if you are coming from out of town. Heck, it didn't use to be open to the public but it gets so little play that now anyone can walk on. I have played this course for over 50 years and still look forward to playing it again when I am in the area. My one and only hole-in-one came on number 7 in 1976. The scenery is spectacular and there is not a house or condo in sight. You can hear the ocean and distant train whistles if the wind's not blowing to hard. If it's not to foggy you'll catch a glimpse of Minutemen Launch pads standing as silent sentinels ready to do our nations bidding.
A gem in the Central Coast
The greens are fast, the rough is ROUGH and the fairways are challenging. Approach shots like you would see on Championship PGA courses. The fairways could use some attention, the tee boxes are a little long and soft but the greens were immaculate, true and FAST! I loved playing this track and am looking forward to returning in the future.
The greens challenging.
The greens were well manicured, fast, and large. The course is well secluded and peaceful.
Npt a Marshmellow
The course was in reasonable shape - we have had a dry winter, so fairways are not as lush as when we have lots of water. This course requires knowledge of and the ability to be in the 'right' place off the tee on so many fairways, or you have to hit a shaped shot to the green. The trees seem to crowd you on those approach shots. Not sure about this, but because we played on Monday I think that the greens might not have been mowed - for whatever reason they seemed very slow. At least this time I knew where the iceplant was, and avoided it! Yah!!! Did better, will come again.
Great course to golf
I have played this course about 7 times now. I will continue to play here for years to come. Its a clean course. Nice friendly staff. Little challenging for me as I usually shoot in the mid 90's. As you see I'm not a pro by any means. What I really like about this course is when I play I usually tee off from 11am-1pm. Every time I have gone there is hardly any one golfing out there. Makes the round go by good without having to be rushed by chasers behind us. Its great. I would recommend to Marshallia Ranch to anyone. Oh and the food, talk about great prices and great food.
Great course
Very fun golf course. Must drive it straight and know how to play out of the sand. Wind came up on the back nine. Great price with Golf Now. Par 3's are tough for high handicappers and there some long par 4's., but the course plays fairly and in nice condition. Great price
Hidden Jewel
Played this course 5/2/2014 What a pleasent surprise. I live in Ojai and it was a 2 hour drive but I will definitely go back. It is out in the middle of know where witch I like very straight forward lots of beautiful scenic holes, sand was good greens were good Deer on fairways I cant think of anything bad to say. $20.00 buck with cart on Golfnow.com
Well worth the drive
Challenging course that we played in under 3.5 hours. Great value and well worth the drive to get there.
Everytime we play Golf is Great!
There is some challenges but wouldn't be golf if it wasn't. People are friendly and we had a great time. If you get in trouble well you should stay on the fairway, lol. Greens are fast and clean. It's like taking a nature walk or ride. I would go over and over again and again.
Great course
Great course huge greens!! Par 5's are long with nice fairways. The bit tough of a course but overall very nice course I would recommend this golf course to anyone.
Staff was very friendly and the course was fun
Always enjoy playing here, staff is always friendly and course has a lot of exciting holes....fun course
Fair for what they charge
Only problem...it rained after 9 holes and could not get a rain-check since the reservation was made under Golf-Now-.com
