Excellent public course - especially for higher handicap players
Westlake Golf Course is fun to play and is geared towards casual players with higher handicaps. The fairways are forgiving, few traps, and limited "gotcha" obstacles. There are a few water hazards and you still need to think about your shots, but overall a lot of fun to play.
Great course at a great price
There was a slow foursome ahead of us that slowed pace of play and the greens had just been aerated and sanded. Besides that this is a great course with good driving range
Not a bad course
Decent course if you can find the right price. I like it because it is a good location for me, but there are better courses out there if you can find a good deal. Its a playable course which is nice, not too challenging. If you're looking for a nice relaxing day on the course, this is the one.
Relaxing round--good course for the ego
Compared to the two canyon courses I played during my vacation stay, this course was an ego booster. Essentially, it is a nice Executive-like course with beautiful views. Not the most challenging course, however it was pretty windy on the day I played, which added a bit more difficulty. Greens were in good shape. Course staff was pleasant and helpful. Range was good. Pace of play dragged in spots, but not enough to throw-off your game (assuming you have one, which I really don't). A relaxing round with lots of par potential. Not expensive, either.
Course friendliness
Excellent course to spend your morning at. Very friendly for a beginner because they allow free drops out of their mulched areas. Same challenging holes where water and ob come into play plus 2 par 5's on an exec course. This is my go to course when I have the time to get away from LA and play as a single. Pace has always been great.
Shortish and undemanding, but good fun.
Not long or demanding but quite interesting. and good for the beginner. Includes 6 par threes which are fun to play. All in all a good little golf course which is very popular. Nice driving range too
Enjoyable Experience
While the course is a bit non-traditional as a Par 67 with many Par 3s on the back, it is still a challenging and interesting layout. Greens and tee boxes were in good condition. Fairways were good for winter golf. On a windy day, some of the shorter holes became very challenging. The guys in the pro shop were very friendly. The driving range and putting green were good. The food in the grill was excellent and drinks were inexpensive. Overall good experience.
Fun course
Enjoyed playing here. Hard to find the ball due to so many leaves on the ground, but that's not their fault. The staff and marshal aren't the friendliest people I've encountered. Still had a good time.
A good walk unspoiled
We left Orange County at 6 a.m. on a Sunday morning and arrived at 7:30 for our scheduled 9:30 tee time. Fortunately, the first tee was available, and we were allowed to go early. I had not played the course in 20 or more years, and it was in much better shape than I remembered. The greens were excellent and well-maintained, and I did not have a bad lie in the fairway. The Kikuyu rough was difficult, but I imagine it is the only grass that can handle the valley's heat. It was a great value for the money, and the staff treated us well. It is a good place to hone your short game.
Westlake
Walked the Blues (4961/63.1/105) in 3H, 15M on the GK certificate for $16.50 on a sunny, still morning with temps nearing 90 by the time we were finishing. Matched up with Bob & Shay who were very fun guys to play with.
Overall, a fun course that plays tougher than you would expect a 5000 yard course to play because of all the trees that come into play on anything crooked. Also, these greens are fairly large for a shorter course, you better have your lag putting down to play well here.
The tees were decent, worn thin in a few spots. With more par 3's than a regulation course, you definitely see more unfixed divots here.
The Kikuyu fairways were lush, occasionally thin and very nice to play from.
The Kikuyu rough was lush and well maintained.
The sand traps were decent. They had a decent amount of sand and were well maintained.
The greens putted medium speed and were smooth. Fairly soft, they were very receptive to holding iron shots. The fringes are Kikuyu here, and my best advice is to to avoid them. Even though they are mowed down, the fringes are very difficult to putt over or even bump and run over.
Their turf reduction program now has numerous areas off the beaten path that are wood chips and plants rather than grass. From a visual standpoint, it adds some contrast and looks nice! The customer service was good from both the Pro Shop and the very visible Marshall. No drink cart, but they do have a restaurant @ the turn. Recommended as a good change of pace.
THIS PLACE IS TRASH
IVE PLAYED ALL THE COURSES IN THE COUNTY AND THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST. PRO SHOP IS RUDE AND DOESNT CONTROL THE BOX. MARSHALL DRIVES AROUND POINTLESSLY DOING NOTHING. TWICE MY GROUP CAME TO A HOLE AND THE FLAG WAS LEFT ON THE GROUND....SO MANY DIVOTS IN THERE GREENS ITS UNREAL. THIS IS NOT A REAL GOLF COURSE DONT WAISTE YOUR MONEY

Walked the Blues (4961/63.1/105) in 3H, 50M on the GK certificate for $16.50 on a sunny morning with temps already above 90 by the time we were finishing. Matched up with Rick, Max & Irv, 3 senior regulars who were very fun guys to play with. Their turf reduction looks to be complete, with numerous areas off the beaten path now wood chips and plants rather than grass. From a visual standpoint, it adds some contrast and looks nice! The tees were average, worn thin in a few spots. With more par 3's than a regulation course, you definitely see more unfixed divots here. The Kikuyu fairways were mostly lush, occasionally thin and good to play from. The Kikuyu rough was lush and well maintained. The sand traps were fair. They looked to have a decent amount of sand but none had been raked today, so most traps had numerous sets of footprints. The greens putted medium speed and smooth, very nice! They were very receptive to holding iron shots. The fringes are kikuyu here, and my best advice is to to avoid them. Even though they are mowed down, the fringes are very difficult to putt over or even bump and run over. The customer service was good from both the Pro Shop and the very visible Marshall. Great Friday deal!!!!!!
Got off early, pace of play was very good under 4 hours. Signed up alone, went with three other people I didn't know, but they were great to go with. Course was is very good condition, would have liked seeing a refreshment cart once or twice. Surprised there weren't any sand bottles for divots.
Terrible Management !
Early daylight around 5:50 am cali time , but no one puts the floor mats out until almost 7 am !!!!!!!!! The same with the golf carts around the same time !!!!!!
Especially yesterday after the 4th of July ... Also plastic cups and plastic wrappers leftovers on the putting green ! Furthermore the green keepers spray the greens around 7 am and there after even though they see the golf players on the fairways waiting to hit there golf balls onto the greens . Often the greens are soon wet by the time we hit the balls onto the greens , damaging the greens and especially no roll while landing the balls ! Often it seems those ground keepers " taunting " us players by continuing watering the greens even though we are hitting from fairways in , by standing and still watering the greens . It is unfair to us players , but furthermore it could be dangerous to there health if being hit by a ball !!!!!!!! The week before we were hitting onto the greens and while landing or afterwards walking onto the greens the ground keepers changed the pin locations right in front of us , even though we aimed towards the pin locations from hitting from the fairway in towards the target ... and after the fact of our rolls onto the greens and pins , they changed in front of our eyes the pin locations and now we are further away and having longer putts to finish the holes . Unacceptable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Players in front of us playing to slow , by walking and miss hitting and playing in a 5some and nobody including management and or Marshals seem to care !!!!!!!!! And then the golf world wonders why more and more people stop playing and more and more golf courses shutting down nationwide each year . It's the arrogance and holding onto so called " traditions " / ignorance of the ownerships / managements of those golf courses , by not adjusting to the current world and new generations of youth which in my eyes will lead to more and more closing of golf courses in the near future !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know my review will not be read or shared , nor change anything but at least i got all of it off my chest !
The Fox
short course but fun
I normally walk this course as it is flat and short, but rode because of a heel injury and the cart deal. It is in nice condition after a big remodel within the last 2 years. A good value thru golf now !
"Cute course"
Fun course that offers a little challenge on some of the holes. A great place to play with some of my "average" golfer friends. On 80% of the course it's very hard to lose a ball. This makes the pace of play a lot faster.
I think we only waited on 1 or 2 tee boxes All day and when we did it was for less then a minute.
Not bad for a round that started at 10:15 on a Saturday.
Great course with great staff
Westlake is awesome, its become my home course over the past 2-3 months, The grounds crew team are awesome group guys, very hard working and extremely friendly. i respect them a lot, there very positive hard working guys always having a smile on there faces, and always going out of there way to wave or say hello. The guys in the pro shop are an awesome group of guys too. Very friendly and positive going to extra lengths to make sure were takin care of and enjoy our rounds. I enjoy the course, its very well taken care of, its a shorter course a par 67 but a fun course to get your clubs and yardage dialed in and have some fun out there. Overall this is my favorite course in the area mainly because of the staff and the well-kept course.
