Vintage SoCal
This course has lot's of heritage and it's age shows how well it's settled, with great big mature trees etc. Greens hold REALLY well and are in great shape and the course can play long if you want it to as well.
If you can't handle noise when you're playing golf then this course isn't for you, (maybe you're playing the wrong game if noise bothers you anyway and you can't "block" it out!!) lol There are freeways with cars 'whipping' at ALL SPEEDS!
Also, try to tee of as early as possible, getting there is NO PROBLEM but if you get out of there say 5ish? YOU'RE DEAD, traffic wise...IN ANY DIRECTION!!!
Good luck, hit 'em straight, and you should enjoy your day/round at this fine specimen of a "vintage SoCal" golf course!
great spot for a good relaxing round
Grabbed some chicken wings fries and taquitos for my friends and i to tee off with and we were all really satisfied nice wide open fairways excellent greens well groomed in the entire place
golf course
Play was excellent. Great deal to play this course. Greens were fast and smooth. Course in excellent shape. Would recommend to all players.
Country club pace of play
This was a great country club experience. What a pleasure to play an old school, fair golf course in 4 hours. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to play there again.
Can't Hear Yourself Play
Good greens. Decent fairways. Course has a simple unimpressive layout. The biggest knock against this course is that it sits on the freeway in such a way that the freeway noise is absolutely deafening. It makes for a very unappealing round on what is otherwise a decent golf experience for the money ($50).
18 Holes
Wide fairways was nice.
I wish golfers would respect the greens, lots of divits left un-repaired on the greens.
Other wise great day for golf, would definitly go back.
Excellent ....
First time played this course. Some what challenging. Loved the layout ! Great fairway and fast greens. Excellent overall.
disappointing
I have played this course about 15 years ago. Back then it was a course in good condition and was an actual private club. Now CCC may be on its last leg. Greens were bumpy and very slow. They dont maintain the course at all. Pace of play is slower than a muni course. What privatr club allows 5 some and they are all walker!! Plus there is no beverage cart. Would not recommend playing here.
Great course for beginners
Fun to play hear. Other than about 2-3 holes, the course surrounding was too noisy because of the freeway close by. Not a formally private club course, staffs are not that of friendly. I didn't like in fact there wasn't any beverage girls on the course.
Ok course
Greens and fairways in good shape, a private course so pace of play was very good. not a great course but not bad either.
A first!
Started to come to Los Angeles 2-4 times a year and try and play a round when I come. I have played four courses and would not return to any of the courses I have played. This is the first time I have played, what I would call, a decent course in LA.
I generally shoot in the low 90's and am not a long ball hitter. CCC was fun, well maintained and pretty. It is not a challenging course. I shot an 83. CCC greens are pretty flat, even the rough is pretty easy to deal with and there are not many risk reward situations. At $69, it was OK. It would be a high value at $50-55.
Early morning Friday tee time and there were not many people on the course. I will play there again, at some point.
Great, Old Style Course
I was surprised to see California Country Club on Golfnow.com, as it has been private until now, as far as i know. I was on vacation, so I booked a late morning tee time on a Thursday. The staff was positive and professional at every turn. As for the course, it is an old, flat, tree-lined layout with a few tee shots that come out of a shoot (from the blue tees). Tee to green, the conditions are very good, with mostly lush coverage in the fairways and (short) rough. The greens appeared to be almost out of maintenance, and most rolled well at medium speed. Be advised that there is significant freeway noise, as some of the holes are right next to the freeway. Pace of play was a bit of an issue on the front nine, as I was a single following a fivesome. I passed them at the turn, and it was much better on the back. I highly recommend the course, but would suggest bringing at least a twosome, as the members seem to have regular groups and are resistant to taking on a single. Also, the pro shop was unable to accept cash for green fees. I had to use a credit card.
This course was wide open.
This was a country club so the course was well maintained. You pay more to play here but the course was not crowded. We played in a little under three hours. We only had to wait on the last hole. The course was well worth it and we will return to play there.
Very challenging, long for the lower and high handicappers
Great track lay out, very small greens on this course so need to be exact going for them. Long par fours and fives hard to reach in two. Only negative is its close proximity to the 60 & 605 freeways, very noisy on both front and back 9's.
Old Vintage course! Sweet!
No starter, so very disorganized. I really enjoyed the layout & playing this course. A lot of fun & challenging holes. My experience was not the best this time due to the fact we had a 2 some & caught up to a 5 some of women that were walking. We ask if we could pass they refused ! said they were members even the Marshall agreed with em' OUCH!!! We spoke to the pro shop bout what happened, we received a free round for a 4 some to use in future. I'll play here again, if I'm treated with a lack of respect again then there are plenty of other courses to play. Staff was very courtesy outside the Marshall !
Thought it would be nicer.
Expected more than a straight up and down muni next to a highway.Got thru 7 holes in 1 hour(which was great) but then got jammed up and it took almost 3 hours to play 8-18!!
Never again.
Best round of golf i've experienced in a long time!
Course is in great shape, very friendly staff, 3 1/2 hr. round.thats the way golf was intended to be. I highly recommend!!!
It feels like playing in a muni course.
For the money we paid to play this so called private golf course is not worth it.we expected that since it is a private course that it wouldnt take about 4 hrs to play around of golf. But after the 11th hole three groups just jumped ahead of our group and it just spirak down from there on.Tried to call the pro shop on what's going on and told us that those group are on a tournament. But a tournament that starts at the 12th hole sounded not right! and they told me that just played again those holes that we waited long(30 mins wait to play the next hole).if deciding to join a private club better stick to those muni one where you dont have to pay that amount of money
Nice course, awful course etiquette by other golfers. Couldn't finish round.
Very disappointed. I was playing by myself, came upon a twosome that ignored me -- didn't invite me to join them or to go by. They caught up to a fivesome that eventually let them pass. The fivesome did not let me pass, so after three holes of waiting to hit forever, I decided to go home, skipping five holes. Someone on the course to help, especially since it is a private course, would've been nice. If the folks ahead of me were members, I would never want to be a member. Also, I can't remember a round where I fixed as many of other people's divots as I did here. Nice course, folks in the shop were good, but I wasted my money.
beautiful conditions very nice course
was very happy to play this usually private course nice wide fairways good greens nice variety of holes very good experience
