The golf course at Flatirons Country Club has a long and unique history, undergoing several name changes, renovations, and even a location change since its conception in 1938. It is a popular choice since it accommodates all skill levels but also provides adequate challenges. The course has fast greens and narrow, tree-lined fairways. Water hazards and bunkers come into play on several of the holes. In addition to the excellent game it provides, the course also has a reputation for being in excellent condition. Flatirons Country Club has practice facilities including a practice green and chipping area as well as an on-site instructor and pro shop.

Great Course - Bad Amenities

This is such a venerable spot. In Boulder - lots of great views and spectacular trees.

Given the level of service Boulder provides its other sports amenities - soccer fields, rec centers and playgrounds, FlatIrons is sadly the ugly cousin. The Pro Shop, despite the very nice people is second rate, set up very poorly for client service and a non-event. Even more disappointing - a potential great money maker - the 19th hole is run like a college beer stop. Why don't we get a real tenant to lease this space that understands its clientele? There are no Boulder made food that would appeal to the baby boomers - no Boulder Chips or Veggie Burgers, finally they are carrying Boulder beer. But - given the pocket book of its clientele really a disappointment. We left and went over to Avery's to spend our money. We are long ago college students and really would pay for good service and good food. Why is that so hard.

Bring your own clubs

All was nice for a public municipal course. Clean and well cut. If you need to rent clubs I'd go elsewhere cuz you get a beginners set of cheap "Target" Wilson sticks and no courtesy balls or tees. Staff was super friendly and even a drink girl buzzing around the course with refreshments.

Nice Views, Decent Course

I played here for the first time with a friend and I'd say overall, it was a great experience. I found the course to be fairly easy, as there weren't too many sand traps or water hazards to worry about. Also, since the holes are pretty much side-by-side, if you shanked one off to the side, it usually was still playable. The green are in good shape, although almost all of them are flat, so putting was pretty straight forward. On a lot of the holes, you can get a great view of the Flatirons, which adds a nice backdrop to the course.

Good muni course

Not much interesting terrain, but solid muni course. Staff does a good job. Course plays well from different length tees. Rain shower blew through, no big deal. Played well, that always helps.

Boring

We played this course for the first time Mon and frankly we found it quite boring. Although you have to be very straight off the tee, each hole is pretty much the same, flat, tree lined fairways and pretty flat greens. There are a few water hazards that break it up, but this is no Colorado National.
If you want a practise and a nice easy walk , this is your course.

Great course, somewhat rude staff.

Course was great! Would go back. On the 18th it was starting to get dark and we were about to head in when called on the loud speaker, still fine. Then a few seconds later the guy came out and yelled at us... Give us a chance. He was very rude then very rude again when I brought the cart back in. I know those guys want to get home, but give people a chance before you are rude to your customers that paid good money to play on your course.

Course Still Soggy

Since we have been having storms every day and Sunday's forecast looked good, my friends and I decided to play 9 holes. This course does not drain well and there were standing puddles all over the fairways. I've played here before and loved it, which is why I told my friends to go there. This was not a good experience for their first time and I suggest waiting a few weeks of drought before playing here.

Olde Time Fun

This course was exactly what I was hoping for. It is an old parkland design with plenty of big trees and ample irrigation. The course was in good shape and should be just right in a couple weeks. This course reminded me of the type of course I played in my youth and rewards good shots with penalties for errand ones. Not an exciting course but it is not supposed to be. The practice grounds are nice and the entire facility is well cared for. Staff is friendly as are the patrons. Fun is the word.

Playable value in Boulder

The course is pretty easy but does have some water on both the front and back nine. Par 3s are bunkered and greens were sanded this early in the season. Course condition was good due to fall rains and recent warm weather. The views from some of the fairways are "world class" when there is snow on the Rockies!!

Give us locals deals!

If you go to either Golden or Longmont, they give locals a break on price. NOT Flatirons in Boulder on their city owned course! Course is usually in great condition and is very easy. Play is usually so slow that I bring a magazine to read at most tee boxes. The key is to play when CU is on break or during football games.

Course is recovering nicely from recent flood damage.

The course was in surprisingly good condition considering the recent flood events in September. There were still some wet and matted spots around the course but very playable. Fairways were cut very short leaving some tricky tight lies especially around the greens. Pace of play was a little slow for a mid week early afternoon but still finished in about 3.5 to 4 hours. Course even provided a discount coupon to entice one to play again soon. All in all a pleasant fall outing.

Flatirons is a traditional course with a mountain view nestled in the Bouler lanscape.

The course is in great playing shape, green and well kept. A price cannot be put on a traditional course in the mountainous setting. The first par three on the front nine is postcard picturesque. The play was unexpectedly fast for a Saturday morning. I wish it would have taken longer than 3.5 hours to play. How many times in your golf experiences have you been able to say that............not many.

Nice course

When living in the heat of Georgia, ANY course in Colorado can win. This one was very nice. The greens had been aerated earlier in the week and were super slow, but still rolled well. Good fairways; some wide, some narrow. Pretty simple layout, but overall a good pace to play.

Staff is unfriendly and dismissive.

Going in we knew the greens had been punched and sanded. The front nine went fine. The pace of play was just under two hours and moving well. The staff inserts a foursome into the back nine as we make the turn. Now we were backed up two holes and frustrations were starting to run high. The blatant disregard for those already playing was obnoxious. Three holes took almost a full hour to play. We left and asked for a rain check. It was given reluctantly with no apology for ruining the round.

Disappointed

I was really excited to play this course and only saw half of it. They had me go through the back 9 twice. It was in poor condition. Greens were ok, but the rough was very inconsistent as well as the fairways.
