Plum Creek Golf & Country Club
About
Legendary golf architects Pete Dye and Perry Dye designed the 18-hole, private course at Plum Creek Golf and Country Club, located in Castle Rock. Opened in 1984, the golf course features 7,044 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. Dye included various different challenges in this golf course, causing some locals to say that it possesses some of the most difficult holes in the state. The hilly terrain of the well-bunkered course causes many uneven lies. Water hazards also come into play on some holes. Plum Creek Golf and Country Club boasts beautiful views of Castle Rock and the Rockies.

Exceptional staff and great layout!
We really enjoyed this round of golf. The starter was lighthearted and made for a relaxed, enjoyable start. Great bunch of guys and gals running this place. There were areas under construction, including one of the signature par 3 holes, which perhaps should have driven greens fees down a bit. The only other criticism of this course is how close the condos, apartments, and houses are to this course. Some of the tee boxes are literally feet from homes. Quite odd. Other than that, a really fun and challenging layout with a top notch group of people in charge!
Course & carts needs some love
I know they are working on getting the course updated but there were definitely some issues on the course they could have taken care of for the golfers. Such as an unmarked deep mud hole next to the green of one of the par 3 holes. My son stepped in it and nearly twisted his ankle in the process. Several of the fairways had significant damage in some areas and the golf cart we were assigned had a parking brake that didn't work 90% of the time. Lastly, the pace of play was ridiculous from the first hole. There wasn't a starter at the hole, and the group in front of us should have already been on their second shot, but the group in front of them were playing from the tips, and shouldn't have been playing from the tips. The golf ranger finally did come out to ask them to pick up the pace, but by that time we were already 15 minutes behind and we were only on hole 3.
I wanted to like this course because it is so close to my house, but I just couldn't - not yet.
Meh
Greens covered in pitch marks, tons of areas under repair including multiple tee boxes that resulted in a 130 yd par 3 to play less than 50. Every time I come to this course something is being worked on which is good for the future. For now, it’s a scam to charge the full rate.
Great Design - Poor Execution
An all too expensive course for what you're getting. Greens are dried out, fairways beat up. Pace of play was poor and not enforced by on-site marshall. Only saw beverage cart 1 time in 18 holes.
Driving range was in very poor condition. Even the grass that was not in active use on this day was dried out and the ground rock solid. 17th hole is under construction, leading you to a 50 yard tee shot onto an island green.
Overall poor experience on a course that's designed extremely well. Offers a lot of challenges and plays a bit like chess on the golf course. Unfortunately, this course does not live up to the price paid for the round. I've played 40 plus cheaper courses I'd reccommend over this one.
Great course!
First time playing this course and I would easily go back again! The entire staff were all very friendly and professional. The course was in great shape. Great course for beginner/intermediate player. I loved that there wasn’t an over abundance of bunkers. Fairways for the most part are narrow(ish) because of the houses on the side, but still easy to play and did not feel too confined. Pace of play was spot on as well!
Under Construction
There is still quite a bit of construction occurring on this course with bunkers, new sodding and tee boxes. Those should be called out as you attempt to book.
Greens continue to be spotty with many unrepaired pitch marks.
Beautiful course
The rangers were great and the course was in good shape. Several holes were under construction, however it was really only hole 17 that was severely impacted. To be fair they did warn us of this beforehand. Beautiful course, great value.
Sad Day
Well this was my second round of the week. Waited both times for
Baskets to hit range balls. Both times I waited more than ten minutes for a cart. Second time I was given a dirty cart and the display screen was dead. Charged $25 extra for the wife to just ride with me. Then of course the battery went dead. What a joke this place has become. The greens have been jammed with play! Totally putting too many people on the course at one time for the staff.
Improving but not there yet!
Plum Creek is certainly in better shape than the last time I played it a few years ago. I have always enjoyed the layout since I was a member back in the 90's. However, I am spoiled with sub 4 hour rounds at my home club and yesterday took 5 hours to play. We waited numerous times on the tee - sometimes as long as 10 -12 minutes. I would suggest playing the course when it is not full if that is ever possible.
Pace of play and green conditions or two good reasons to skip this course
I’ve played this course three times, and the pace of play for a semi private course is ridiculous. The first round was five hours and 40 minutes and the second round we gave up after nine because we were already into it for three hours 10 minutes.
Many of the greens look like they’ve been hit by landmines, again, surprisingly poor conditions for what is supposed to be a semi private course.
Was also disappointed that we did not receive prior notice that our day of play was cartpath only
