Pine Creek Golf Club
About
Pine Creek Golf Course is part of the La Plata Communities in Colorado Springs. The course winds through the Pine Creek Valley, providing a lush and varied landscape. The course sprawls across high plains grasslands with abundant trees and lakes coming into play throughout. The seemingly gentle terrain has tricky undulations that total over 375 feet of elevation changes. The front is a canyon-style nine while the back is more of an American links design. There are creek beds coming into play on nearly every hole as well as strategically placed bunkers. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers stunning views of Pikes Peak, the Front Range, and the entire Colorado Springs skyline. At Pine Creek there is also a unique elevated, target-oriented grass driving range, a practice green, and a short game area.

A heavy frost covered the vegetation as the maintenance crews blew out the sprinkler system as we played. This is the tee box of # 11. Photo submitted by skibumcolorado on 11/21/2013
Beautiful day
Great views of Pikes Peak and surrounding mountains. Restrooms on the front and back nine. The starter was very helpful and explained the course
Could be Better
Overall the course is worth playing. Wait till later in the day because there's no way this course is worth the full price or $100+. One the course needs a marshal. Wait to hit every shot is not how golf is meant to be played and especially if you are pay $75 plus. Second, For a course charging as much are they are they need to put some sand in the sand traps. Hitting out of the traps is like hitting on the cart path or concrete. Third, Greens need to be rolled or some repair work needs to occur because of all the hail. Every put is bouncing around and makes me questions why I paid that much money to play this course.
Play it Again, Dan
First time playing this tight course. Unless you're a scratch player with a caddie or someone who will guide you on your shotmaking, play conservative in order to learn the courses carries and nuances. First hole's drive is deceiving. Back nine par three surrounded by water and I just didn't see the water. I'm ready for the next round and adjust my shots. Fun and challenging.
Overall a really good course
Course not too difficult but is challenging. If you are not from here, the ball travels quiet a bit further than what Im use too. Greens were in fabulous shape. If Im ever in the area again I will with out a doubt play again.
Hard to believe this is a public course.
The young man who helped me in the pro shop was amazing. I should have listened to his advice and only hit 5 wood off the tee with few exceptions. The drive is essential for success on this course. Once in the fairway, the approach shots were mostly manageable. My goal at all new courses is to break 85. I was pleased with an 83 considering the 20 plus wind gusts.
Tee Boxes were mostly in good to great condition.
Fairways were spotty and thin in areas, but the course had been overseeded recently based on new growth.
Layout is amazing with several risk reward holes. There are several nature areas that can alter a holes score. Don't get in the 2nd layer of Rough as it was brutal.
Staff as stated were very welcoming and helpful. The starter was very nice as well.
The club house was very nice.
Value add was the included small bucket of range balls.
Strong recommendation to play this course.
Amazing views
From Austin Tx and play some nice courses. All things considered with the rain recently and the grass coming in, course was 8/10.
Bunkers were rough but to be expected with the rain.
Tight fairways.
Greens were in good condition. Rolled true. Might go back and play tomorrow being all the other courses around that are worth playing are private or have bad reviews
+12 on the round (3 doubles, 2 birdies)
People are overreacting about this place
I’ve seen quite a few bad reviews of this golf course. Maybe these guys are playing on the best courses in the world and are underwhelmed by this one… but in Texas, we don’t have golf courses like this. The views are phenomenal. The only part of the course that I though was lacking upkeep was probably the sand bunkers. But the greens were pure, fairways were tight and challenging, and staff was exceptional. I read some reviews saying that the staff was rude. I interacted with 3 different staff members today and had purposeful and kind conversations with all of them. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the course. Overall, 8.5/10 and def would recommend.
Greens are solid
The course is dealing with some winter kill, like most public courses, but the greens are solid and under new Superintendent leadership, I’m optimistic the rest of the course will follow suit too.
Potential
Nice layout for the course but lacks basic maintenance…sand traps not in good shape many with water not draining, the grass cutting must only happen every couple of weeks since clumps of grass clips left throughout the course. The range is horrible and should just move to mats as it would be improvement.
Fantastic Greens!
Great course! Fairways are a little narrow at times and will punish you for errant shots. The greens were very fast but incredibly honest and a pleasure to putt on. Will for sure be back soon!
