The best shot of my life. My first shot on hole 11. 308 yard par 4. Photo submitted by u000007718501 on 11/12/2013
Nice course
I liked the course, although, it was pretty tight and hilly. Bring some golf balls if your a first timer with a 20+ handicap.
The staff was friendly however, when I put my receipt for my round in the car...I had to go back upstairs for verification or the starter would not let me go.
Overall, a decent experience
Fun day
Course has excellent design. Staff very friendly and helpful.. tee boxes under repair on several holes. Will play again.
Condition
Very little grass , you have to move ball to grass, hard to play the ball down. Greens are not the same speeds.. play was slow 4:45 round , not fun. It's close to home but the conditions are bad.
Golf during Eclipse
Played 8 April 2024. Very nice day including partial solar eclipse. Some thin spots on tees and fairways but still playable. Greens aerated recently but still firm and only slightly bumpy. Staff was very polite and helpful.
Overall a fun course to play over rolling terrain. A couple of holes do not suit my eye because the target area is so small and with sloping fairways feeding into huge ravines.
Still one of my favorites
This course has a nice layout and can be a challenge for golfers of just about any ability, depending on how much risk they are willing to take. post importantly, the staff is very nice.
Easter Sunday
Decided to go play a Round after Easter dinner. Using the Golf Now App I secured a 2:40 Tee-Time. Got to the course, paid for two golfers and headed to the range. Once my playing partner showed we hit the first tee. When we reached the #1 green we discovered that the greens had been “Punched” and Dressed. Very disappointed that nobody mentioned this to me at check in, and was charged full price☹️
Wish I would have played elsewhere.
Really disappointed to have paid $60 to play here. The city of Atlanta courses are in better shape and half the price. Aerated greens and no grass on tee boxes or most fairways. Really sad; will not be back.
Horrible Customer Service
I will start by saying I am not the type to leave reviews, and I have also played this course dozens of times over the last several years, and had an overall good experience here. That is, until today. My son wife and I had plans to go to a public driving range that was closed due to the wet grass. We changed plans quickly and went to Towne Lake Hills instead because their range was open.. Because we were not prepared to go to a golf course that afternoon, we did not have on golf shirts. It was something I was aware of, but given the situation was hopeful that it would not be an issue. Instead of politely bringing up the issue with me, the head golf pro, Reese Troublefield, said to my son and I, “This ain’t the Bushwood Country Club and next time you better have a collared shirt.” I replied with “You could be nicer about the situation” To which he replied “You think I’m being mean? You wait and see and I’ll show you mean. Know what? I don’t think I’m going to let you on the range now. You need to buy a shirt or leave.” I certainly understand the rule, however it was clearly offensive to have someone speak to me like this in front of my son, especially given that I am returning customer to the course. Again, I am an avid golfer and understand the rules and regulations of the courses, however the way this was handled by the head golf pro, was extremely disappointing. I will NEVER return to Towne Lake Hills.
Worst Customer Service experience I have ever had.

It's one of the cheaper options for a reason
Its your typical neighborhood course from the 90's. Its fine if you're looking to get out and play for cheap. If your paying the weekend rate of $70+ I would advise spending $10-$20 more and playing somewhere else.
Course is on the shorter side. Could use some serious tree removal. Tee boxes are in rough shape, fairways hold a lot of water and run out into very thick trees and undergrowth, greens are well kempt though.
Massacred Grass
The course looks like Central Europe after WWI. Pock marks everywhere, half mud, could probably sleep two comfortable in the divots.
Good GC
After lunch at the Tavern overlooking the 18th green, played 18 holes. First time here. Challenging and enjoyable. Carts were powerful for the hills.
It's still winter
It's still winter, fairways are dormant and very short. Green are in good shape. If you like a little grass under your ball, try and hit it in the rough. Some holes can be tricky.
Really…$67 for 2:20 tee time!
So, I’ve played Townlake golf course on and off for 20 years and I’d call it a decent t golf course. But yesterday i had a tee time of 2:20 and they charged $67 greens fees. This would not be a horrible price but it’s winter, so the course was in mediocre condition and there was little no chance we would get 18 holes as the sun goes down at 6:00 pm. Which makes the price even more ridiculous, since most rounds take 4.5 hours and again we started at 2:20 which means they charged premium summer prices in winter at a tee time they know we can only get more than 15 holes of golf. Golf courses always reduce greens feee after 2 or 3 o’clock because they know it’s unlikely golfers will get a full round. So, either they’re over charging to pay upgrades to the club house / restaurant or they want golfers to go somewhere else. I live in Woodstock and would prefer to play locally but there are plenty of other choices within 15 minutes of Townlake.
Needs a little work
Needs a little work to be great. Has potential. A bunch of the tee boxes are being worked on and are in awful shape but there were some that were really good! Biggest gripe I’ve had since I’ve been playing at TLH are the cart paths. They’re so bad that it was shaking my whole body and my bag almost fell out of the cart.
