Foothills Golf Course - Championship 18 Course
About
The Championship 18 Course at Foothills Golf Course is one of three courses at the Foothills facility, but it is the only 18-hole course of the three. Built in 1971, Dick Phelps designed the course. The public course is 6,908 yards at its championship tees. Although the course is relatively flat, there are some hills that cause uneven lies. The course features other difficulties as well. Pretty lakes and creeks create water hazards that come into play on some holes. The greens are bent grass while the fairways are covered in Bermuda grass. There is also a putting green and on-site teaching pro to help golfers with their game.

Under some construction
Clubhouse is being torn down and rebuilt so not much in after round amenities, however, it's a fun track in decent early conditions. Staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Poor pace of play
Really could have used some help from the Marshall with the group ahead. They were 1 to 2 holes behind our entire round. Asked the Marshall twice and was oblivious.
The clubhouse is undergoing construction so good & bev as well as the pro shop are run out of a trailer.
Course was lush and green due to a cool wet start to the summer but the greens were spotty and could use some love.
Lakewood Foothills golf
Weather was perfect course was alittle dry. Very friendly staff !
Good Value Golf Course
Foothills is a good value golf course in suburban Jefferson County. The course was in good shape considering the recent weather extremes. The greens were well maintained and kept your attention on the contours, not the grass issues of other courses.
Foothills GC
Couse conditions were up to standard for this time of year. The forgiving nature of the course was very welcome at this time of the year given the marginal weather conditions. We enjoyed our round.
Needs TLC
The greens are not looking good and there is a lot of dying grass around.
Solid layout
Foothills is one of the most underrated public courses in the Denver metro area. For the amount of rounds this course gets, it is always in good condition. In addition, the course is challenging yet extremely playable with a variety of fun holes.
Ok
Course is super dry and I’m worried about them
Losing greens
Windy Bear
Thought the course was in above average conditions given our early spring tee time in the foothills of the Rockies. Greens were smooth and rolled true even if not fully filled out yet. Fairways were good to great, short grass like you would expect at the beginning of the season. Great bounces and rolls for those short drivers.
Our round was quite entertaining due to the wind. A good steady 30-50 mph west to east. Required up clubbing a good 30-40 yards. Side to side shots were downright comical given how much they moved. Overall, a really fun round. Made us have to play outside of the norms. Fun experience!
Fun but golf now doesn’t honor slow play rain checks
Played w a very talkative single, stuck behind some slow foursomes.. couldn’t get a rain check
Good, windy day with lots of open spaces to play
The forecast was for 20-30 mph winds. Mother Nature didn't disappoint. It was chilly starting at 40F. A good ski hat, wind shell, and double gloves made for a comfortable temperature. The winds made some drives go 165y and some 3 woods go 300y. Putting was actually affected by the winds, especially downhillers. The grass is greening up nicely. The lack of crowds made for a relaxing day. Overall, if you can tolerate the wind, the course feels almost like your own private playground.

Course was in good condition for this time of the year!
