Eighteen Hole at South Suburban Golf Course
About
The Eighteen Hole Golf Course is one of two courses at the South Suburban Golf Course facility, the other being a par-3, nine hole course. Both courses were designed by renowned golf architect Richard Phelps who designed a number of golf courses in Colorado. These public courses opened in 1973. The Eighteen Hole Course is 6,790 yards from its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. The course is fairly open and its greens are undulating, but overall the course is relatively flat. The course is well-maintained and easy to walk. Water hazards come into play on some holes and there are also sand bunkers.

Great Day
This course is top 10 layout of public courses in the metro area. But the greens are tough. Several have ridiculous undulations and pin placement is a key.
The greens thanks to temps in the 20's at night are starting to go onto winter mode. So the challenge gets better.
Rest of course is still in excellent condition and new rebuild of clubhouse and restaurant is great.
Staff is friendly and over all experience is always top of the list!
Love South Suburban
We love this course and play it often. The only problem was the lack of clean carts when we checked in. A staff person immediately found one for us and brought it to my car. The greens are always fast and this week rather uneven and bumpy due to aeration. We ha2 d to cancel two of our foursome and South Suburban was great about it. My issue is with GolfNow and how they messed up my fees - got to pay double the greens fees for 2 golfers. Now I have to straighten that out.
Better be able to place your shots and do uphill puts here
This is a challenging but fun course that is good a few times a year when a deal shows up. Pace can be a bit of a problem at times, esp mid week when it seems that everyone that is retired in a 5 mile radius shows up but, today it was good. The greens here are fast and if you do not place your approach shot well, look out and it becomes an easy 3 putt each time. It is a good layout and the clubhouse is brand new....but full disclosure, I liked the old timey clubhouse of before much better, I am just old school
Nice trees
I like that there are a lot of trees but not put there to make course difficult.
Fun Track at the Right Price
South Suburban is a fun track, but is a little short. The greens are the course's protection and they are running a little slower than usual. This course is worth it at the discounted Golf Now price, their rack rate is WAY too high for what you get though.
Greens suck
It's been this way for years as far as the slopes on the greens. In addition the pin placements in some cases are obscured and unfair! Course is in good shape but this definitely affects pace of play. Golf is tricky enough without the difficulty of sloped greens and side hill pins. Clubhouse under construction so porta pottys are you only option, they have changed holes around so without signs you wouldn't know where to go.
Mr. Mike
I arrived at the course early, after driving an hour, in order to properly warmup for my round. When I checked in, I was not informed I would be required to share my cart with a stranger, who happened to be a hacker. After warming up for an hour, I stepped up to the first tee box and at that time I was blindsided and told I would be sharing my cart. I'm a single number handicap who played over 90 rounds this year, and I expect the opportunity to enjoy my round of golf, but when you pair another golfer (typically a lousy one) in the same cart with me, most of the round is spent zigzagging around the golf course after every lousy shot the stranger they stuck in my cart makes. This not only slows down pace of play, but create an extremely frustrating day of golf.
What a wasted Friday afternoon, and a totally unenjoyable and unpleasant experience. Like I said, I play upward of 100 rounds a season, and come into contact with hundreds of players all over Colorado, I can assure you I will spread the word of your senseless and frustrating policy.
Course under renovation
Stay clear of this golf course. The clubhouse is under renovation the course has a new layout very confusing .Pro shop is a construction trailer and no water throughout the course
Good layout and challenging greens
Very interesting course with slopy and fairly fast greens. Fun to play if you like to think on the greens.
Good golf hard greens
Its kinda short but it has its length and some very hard holes on the back 9. The front is fun for a 9 has some long holes. The greens are very fast and they really aren't flat.
Below the hole is the way to go
What a great manicured course. Fairways were a pleasure to hit from and the rough didn't penalize to much. The courses main defense are the greens! They're almost unplayable from above the hole. You must keep the ball on the below the hole and in the right area of the green. I'd play it again now knowing this.
Overcrowded
Way to many people coming and going. Not sure who was with which group, lots of Par 3 course interference. Greens were unrealistic.
South Suburban 18
The South Suburban 18 is in excellent condition. The rough was cut but was still thick and a but challenging. The greens were simply awesome! I wish they would have water jugs located throughout the course so on 95 degree days you can stay hydrated.
Great Course
Love this course & layout! Always a test of one's putting abilities...
Just do it
Enuff said... Go play SS it's one of Denvers best golf courses and definitely fast true greens!
Course in good shape being late in the season (November).
Will play again and again. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Never disappoints
The course was in fantastic condition and their starter was top notch! I loved that they weren't afraid to put the pins in extremely challenging places. Even with the hardest pin placements it was still a 4:15 round.
I understand it's "out of season" but, It would've been nice to have a beverage cart on the course. After all it was a Saturday.
The Banana Bread is a MUST have when you're there.
Golf with Chris
Got paired with the assistant golf pro Chris. He was very friendly and a great playing partner. I am actually planning to take lessons with him!! The course was in good shape except for the greens, which had been aerated 2 weeks earlier and hadn't fully healed. Other than that, I will absolutely play there again!
No notice of punched greens
I payed $50 for a tee time and found that the greens were punched. There was no notice of this by golfnow or the course. Very disappointed with the lack of information provided by the two entities. 50 is expensive, with no knowledge of punched greens it was a severe rip off.
