great wooded course
Played here a few times - front 9 is narrow with lots of trees. Back 9 opens up a bit but still challenging. Good green andulation, some really fun tee shots setup throughout. Pace of play is usually excellent, only didn't give 5 stars as had 1 experience we got held up a bit but we were able to play through. fairway and green conditions are good - pretty course surrounded by nature - hard to beat for the price.
Beautiful course… Well taken care of
Beautiful course… Well taken care of. Although I love fast greens, there were a couple holes that were almost impossible to keep your ball on the green. Felt like John Daly in the U.S. Open a few years ago.
Great value; Great scenery.
The Hot Deal really makes this course a steal. Other than some of the cart paths, the course is in excellent condition especially the greens.
Meh
If you're reading this review, its probably because you don't know much about this course. Its a tough track, but not necessarily for good reasons. You can hit good shots and find yourself in bad spots. There are at least 6 blind tee shots you'll face, so unless you are playing with someone familiar with the course, you'll be guessing. There isn't a course map, or cart GPS to offer assistance. Additionally, the fairways are narrow and slope significantly to the left or right, and have, in many landing areas, perhaps 5 or 10 yards of rough before you hit OB stakes, which line both sides of virtually every hole. The 18th is one of the ugliest closing holes I've ever seen, framed by large maintenance sheds. The greens are in great shape and fast, and all of the staff I dealt with were super friendly and helpful. The course might be more enjoyable once you develop some familiarity with it. But for a first timer without someone to point out idiosyncrasies, there are more enjoyable tracks, I think.
Course is nice, staff is terrible
Staff does not understand how to use GolfNow - did not honor GolfNow prepayment of $75 and threatened to call sheriff to have us removed. Know it all attitude wouldn’t even consider they might be wrong even when shown evidence. Avoid and play Beardance instead.
Beautiful course
Beautiful course. Great place to play. Expecially fond of the back 9
Woodmoor
The course was nice, decent greens, very good fairways... gasoline carts were annoying, slow, loud, etc. a lot of blind tee shots made a newbie in trouble a lot!
Country Club amenities at Goat Ranch prices through Golf Now.
The price of golf includes the use of the club's restaurant and bar after golf. The golf and dinner after was amazing! The Blue Crab stuffed chicken was perfect.
Course was awesome - in great shape and the weather was perfect! My only criticism is with Golf Now - when we arrived to pay our green fees, we were told Golf Now charged us a $48 booking fee, as the green fees were only $41.25 per person, and to just call the pro shop next time to avoid this fee. This was not stated when the tee time was booked, will never use Golf Now again. Lesson learned!
Beautiful challenging course
This is a beautiful course. Tight fairways and tree lined. It's a challenge. Bring plenty of balls!
COOL LAYOUT!!
Enjoyed this course. Target Golf! Made you use every club in the bag!
Course with tight houses and challenging greens
Challenging course. If you spray your ball this probably isn't the course for you. Houses right along the course on the majority of the holes. That is my only complaint of the course itself. Challenging greens adds for some entertainment
Rocky
Course was great for me but people who hit the ball far ended up in fairways that they were not on. A bunch or bid spots. Over all course was fun.
Management?
Country Cub at Woodmoor formally Monument Hills Country Club is still managed without regard to the golfers experience. Understand the course is just coming out of winter and has considerable damage. The greens, many with heavy damage hopefully will come around in a month or two. All were impossible to putt consistently. Suprisingly the same pin placements from last fall or 6 months ago when I played here last. Colored flags (red white blue) may be located front back center without regard or blue may be front on one hole and blue may be middle or back on next hole. It's as if the mantinace crew that doesn't know or care about golf runs the course. Given the obvious management strategy I cannot recommend this course.
Over The Hill, Through The Woods
This course is an old country club, gone public. The facilities are old, the course is old, the tee boxes are old, the houses that line the course are....you guessed it, OLD. That isn't a bad thing...just a fact. So, don't expect some shinny new facility and perfect greens.
The course plays tight through a forest of pines. The trees are really the course's only defense, but if you aren't straight, big numbers will haunt you.
With the Greensaver golf discount book, 2 for 1 deal, makes the round worth it...only $25 each with cart. At that price, and if you are in the area, it's worth the round.
Bonus: we saw a beautiful 5 point buck having an afternoon rest under a tree on #7.
If you don't like trees...skip it!
Nice Track
Very nice course for this Houstonian to play, and great value. The only downside are the dirt cart paths filled with pot holes. The golf course makes up for that.
Has the potential to be great!
The employees were not friendly and didn't seem to care if they were there or not. The outside bar was disappointing had to wait for a Hot dog, the girl behind the counter could use some training. I hope the new owners will work on the training of the staff.
