Nice round
I was looking for some good grass and this course had it.
Pretty views, and an overall nice course for just nine holes
Enjoyed our first time there. It was a little slow because we had duffers in front of us!
Great challenging course
We enjoyed playing this course. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. COVID restrictions, rightly so, restricted club house options. Not a concern for us.
Superlative 9 hole gem
Trinidad golf course is the best 9 hole golf course I have played in the 57 years I have been playing golf. Fairways are excellent and mowed close. Rough is thick and verdant but not overly high. Greens are fast smooth and in outstanding condition. Greens are sloped and fast so you had better have your A game to score well. Course condition is superior compared to all public and private courses. You can go low on this course if you bomb the ball off the tees or have a smooth pure putting stroke. Still snow in the Sangre del Cristo mountain peaks in late June, Staff is very friendly.
FUN
Purists will love this place. Great prices and it definitely has a Donald Ross feel. Tricky shot making required on 9 holes (with 18 different tee boxes so you technically can play 2 different 9s). I played on a rainy day and pretty much had the course to myself. Bring cash though- sometimes the pro shop is closed and you may need to put your greens fee in the drop box.
HIDDEN TREASURE
This is a must play. From the speed of play, course condition as well as the staff. But don't let the view distract you. This isn't your regular nine hole course. You'll need to use most clubs in the bag. The fairways have a first and second cut off the fairways. But when you play this course, make sure you study your putts. The greens are undulating and could easily be three putt potential. When your on vacation, and traveling through Trinidad, you should plan to stay in Trinidad and play this pleasure of a course.
Outstanding scenic 9 hole mountain course
Trinidad is a real gem.Very scenic with mountain range views. Fairways are very lush and green. Most greens are sloped front to back, smooth, and quite fast. Putts roll true. With some pin positions, your putts are either in or gone. Bombers can reach most of the par fives in two. Recently adding a driving range with "hit and retrieve your own used golf balls". Friendly staff. Uncrowded early in week. Best 9 hole course in surrounding area.
FUN 9 hole course
I love this little course!! Close to the NM border and easy to get to from CO or NM.
Careful on #2 it's a blind shot over the hill. There's an old bell to ring once you clear the fairway.
Watch your tee shot on par 3 #5. Keep it down the middle or you could end up on I-25!! haha
It was early in the year and the greens were a little spongy.
Generally, the course is well kept and a lot of fun to play.
Best 9-hole course in Colorado
Single digits will look at the scorecard and say I'm gonna shoot 65, but this great value can produce some three putts when the greens start rolling fast. This golf course dates so far back (1915) that the architect is unknown.
"There has been a lot of speculation that it was designed by Donald Ross," said Guido Pachelli, course superintendent. Ross, of course, designed Pinehurst, and in 1918 Ross completed the Broadmoor East Course.
Trinidad Municipal is a relatively short course (6,160 for the men) that low-handicappers could scorch, but that's not to say it isn't a challenge. Keep it on the fairways because there's all kinds of trouble when you hit it crooked. Greens are excellent, but most are also sloping from back to front -- there aren't too many flat, straight putts to be had. And the elevated greens will frustrate you, because some have false fronts.
