Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - South Par-3 Course
About
The South Par-3 Course is one of two par-3, public golf courses that Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills offers. In total there are four courses, varying in length and size, at Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills. Unlike the 7-hole North Par-3 Course, the South Par-3 has 9 holes and it is 1,060 yards from its longest tees. The course is quite challenging for a par-3. Water hazards come into play on four of the nine holes. It offers excellent practice for those wanting to improve their short game as it tests several different handicaps. Although less demanding than the 18-hole Gold Course, the South Par-3 is a great short course.

Hard to navigate
The course was fun, food in the clubhouse was awesome, and the staff we very helpful and friendly. Our big complaint was that the course was very poorly marked - as a first time player there, we really struggled with finding the tee boxes, knowing which cart path to follow, etc. There was no map available and we couldn’t even find the first hole on the course we played, so it was pretty frustrating. Better signage, greens flags with the hole number on them, and a course map for all courses would sure be helpful!
I like it, just not the range
I understand this is a pretty busy place but it is also frustrating that the range is now Mats only for the foreseeable future. I have been told it's because they have so many people use the facility but the mats are always work out and there are several tiers of well maintained green beautiful grass that one could hit off of. The areas around the mats are just dirt/sand at this point and its just not worth it to me to pay the same amount for range balls when every other course in the area is off mats for the season. I'll keep playing, just not practicing there.
Good for the Price
The layout here is great, but it gets extremely crowded. The tee boxes are a mine field, but the rest of the course was in decent shape.
Favorite Par 3
We are not expert golfers, but enjoy getting out on the golf course. Par 3 Golf Courses offer us the opportunity to play, improve our level of play and enjoy the outdoors. This is by far the best Par 3 in the area - course is well-maintained and it is located in a very nice residential areas with no busy streets disrupting our enjoyment of our golf game.
Great course, the range is a little frustrating
I enjoy playing at Hyland Hills, the par 3 is fun as is the Blue & Gold courses. My only complaint is the range is always on matts, it has been this way for years despite there being plenty of healthy grass to hit off of. The result is worn out mats with heavy divots and the edges are so curled up the rubber tees do not sit strait to even rest a golf ball on.
Conditions of course
The course itself was a fun experience. Nice way to work on my short game. However the tee boxes and greens were rough. Divots all over the tee boxes and barren greens made it challenging to get an accurate representation of my game. I truthfully enjoy your course and will definitely be back.
Thanks,
Great value
Greens were a little bumpy but you cant beat the value and atmosphere of this place. Very nice and not too busy.
Cant beat the value
Great course and people. Honestly one of the best values in local golf.
Great Value, Poor Management
This course is excellent as far as Par 3s go. Not especially challenging but always good to put the wedges to work. Well maintained even early in the season.
The management of the course, however, was abysmal. I played through groups of 5 to 7 people at 6 of 9 tees. Nobody monitors the start of this course, so it seems like people either just show up and play without paying or book multiple reservation blocks and play as a massive group. Even on a gimmicky course, a single group of 5 is unacceptable. Running into what was essentially a party of 30-35 split up among several groups of 5-7 players is something I have never experienced in my life. Hyland Hills needs to get someone older than 20 in the clubhouse and run this place like an actual course.
Fun 9 hole par 3 to practice mid and short game, the water hazards on the first 3 holes provide a fun challenge
