Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - Gold Course
The Gold Course from Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is the only 18-hole course at the facility. Designed by Frank Hummel, the course opened in 1959 and used to include the 9 holes of the Blue Course as the front nine. Currently however, both the Gold and the Blue are separate courses. The landscape of the Gold is hilly and seven ponds create a beautiful atmosphere while also adding challenging water hazards to eleven holes. Although the entire course is scenic, the 12th hole is considered to have the most picturesque views. Its elevated tee offers gorgeous vistas of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is known not only for its gorgeous scenery, it has also received acclaim from golf publications such as Golf Digest.

There was no notice to players on what to do when getting to the course. After finding all the doors locked, another player told us we had to knock on the door to the pro shop and someone you come and answer. We did that and someone finally unlocked the door and opened it about 6 inches. He growled at us and told us we couldn't get carts until 10 minutes before tee time. Pro shop people are usually friendly and happy to see you at the course. This one acted like we were disturbing him by even being there.
No score cards were available.
Never saw a Marshall...the group two ahead of us finished at least 4 holes behind !! Made for a long afternoon with the entire course behind them waiting on every shot. Three of our foursome are former player assistants & ANY attention could have easily remedied the situation.
Covid Golf ok
Had a good round today. Pace of play was great. Course is in decent shape. Tee boxes are hard, but that seems to always be the case here. Nothing to keep a bozo like me away. I will say the check in process could be a little more clear, and smooth in the time of Covid. Other courses are having people call when they get to the course, and just grab the carts. Contact free. transactions. The awkward hand the cart key through the barely opened door, seems to be a bit strange and unnecessary, but the starter is in the clubhouse, so that may be the reason. Not a big deal, have just seen it done better.
You know we live in crazy times right now so just being out to play golf was great. There was a lot of people to start. Looked like someone missed their tee time and he just tee’d off by himself. That was sick. Thanks buddy. Once we got out there it was pretty solid going. Bummed there was no concessions but what can you do. The course was in pretty good shape. Lucky we had someone who played there recently, otherwise I might have tee’d off on the wrong hole. Idk why they couldn’t put a map on the cart. The course was green, the green were in morderate shape. I was just glad we got a cart. Have fun out there. Hit’em straight. Stay safe!
GREAT way to stay active while Social Distancing
The course was in good condition. There were a few greens that had some rough patches, but overall very happy. Love the layout with all the trees!
Hyland Hills Gold Course
Despite COVID restrictions, course was in great shape. Greens conditions were very good.
Great Condition for Early Spring round
Hyland Hills always does a good job of keeping their course in good shape and making you feel welcome. Great restaurant. Nice locker room. Course was in very good shape considering only one week of warm weather before playing. Great Mountain views from back 9 in particular.
Good late winter conditions
For this time of year the course is really in good shape. The recent rain is starting to wake up the dormant grass, greens are very smooth. Great day to play, basically had the place to ourselves.
