Richter Park Golf Course
About
Situated at the heart of Fairfield County, Richter Park Golf Course is situated along the West Lake Reservoir. The course has been ranked among not only the top ten golf courses in Connecticut but also as one of the top 25 public courses in the country. The course sprawls across more than 180 acres of gently rolling hills. Water has a prominent presence throughout, with the Reservoir bordering seven holes on the front nine and water hazards coming into play on a total of 14 holes. In addition to the water, there are a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic, which can make it a tough golf course to play your first time. Be prepared for a few blind shots. Richter Park's signature hole, the par-5 12th, is bordered by Boggs Pond. Your third shot will be over water to a bunkered green.

Richter Park during fall foliage Photo submitted by dplevin11 on 10/05/2013
Disappointing
Have not played here since 2020, course is challenging with lots of elevation changes and hazards. Many fairways are in real bad shape, worse than the rough. Pace of play was really slow. They squeezed in a small practice range next to no 10,.. have to careful, got hit by a practice ball goin up to 10th green although they put up a net. Practice ball all over 18th fairway too. Many fairways like 11,14,16 are basically swamps, cart paths only. Some greens are in pretty bad shape too.
Beautiful layou
The layout is fantastic and it must be very scenic with foliage. The conditions were generally good, with the exception of standing water in a couple of low lying fairways adjacent to the humus bogs. We had significant rainfall the night before so we weren’t surprised, but either better drainage or elevating these fairways would be an improvement. The remaining course was very good considering the rain and we’ll definitely be returning.
Great course
Great course. The starter was very rude and disrespectful.
Pace of play
ranger needs to do a much better job of moving groups along. 5 hours to play 18 holes is ridiculous, you can’t get any rhythm going.
Course With Potential
First time at Richter and was impressed with the layout, staff and amenities. Unfortunately though course conditions were disappointing especially tee boxes and many fairways on the back nine which were very poor.
Course is probably worth a look for locals but not to drive over an hour as we did given the current course conditions.
Nice course
Read about it on golf now and played for first time , had fun day , course was in good shape , greens , tees and fairways all good here, overall would play if I lived closer otherwise wouldn’t drive when can play same closer
Do you love a challenge?
If you love a challenge, this is the coarse for you. Although the fairways were not in the best condition, likely from past weather conditions, the greens were in good shape.
The staff was very friendly and professional and pace of play was pretty good. Looking forward to playing here again.
