Big bang for your buck!
I have played this course many times over the past 5 years, in a weekly league. It is always in very good condition, especially the greens (though they are never what you would call fast). The course provides a challange for good golfers who want to improve their short game. But it is also very playable for beginners. The front 9 is shorter and fairly easy for an average golfer. It is a good warm up for the longer and much tougher back 9, which has several holes between 196 and 250 yards. Water can come into play on holes 1, 10, and 12 (the longest hole on the course). Parts of the course are hilly. But it is walkable.
Used to be a fine par 3. Now a dog track
There was a time Cedar Ridge was a fine Par 3. Greens were always in good shape, and a nice way to work your short game.
Not any more. I looks as if 4 old Elmo golf buddies decided to buy a golf course. I witnessed said Elmos throwing sand on the aerated greens, clearly with no idea what they are doing.
One green had so much sand on it the flag stick couldn't be placed in the hole. Foot prints and deer prints with a fresh morning dew the sand was now mud. Yet they charged full price and no mention of the 2 green closed due to malfeasance of Elmos, 1/2 the green was burn beyond repair.
This course has been around for years with different people in charge, usually a good time. It should be bankrupted by spring.
Love a par 3 course
Great place to work on your game. Just a blast to get out and play 18 here. Would absolutely play here again.
Very slow because a family reunion golf tournament was going on
They should definitely post if there’s going to be a huge delay on the course because of a tournament. We would’ve chosen to play another course or at least at another time. It was an entire family reunion golf tournament going on. Cheers to the people in the family, but a bummer for people waiting.
We love this course, but I wish they would put some love into it and take care of it. It’s looking quite forlorn.
Great Budget Course
Course was in very good overall condition except some greens were pretty rough. They are usually much better than this at this course. I would give the benefit of the doubt here and reassess next year. Staff is always great. Course is a nice executive. Great for a duffer (me) and my 11 year old in his second year of lessons. He can hit all of his clubs I can hit all irons and my hybrid. I hit my woods pretty far so they stay in the bag. Walkable but nice to ride. Some water in play but not much. Most holes pretty open but some are tighter or more challenging. A nice mix for most higher handicappers. Low handicappers may not be very challenged but would have fun with duffer friends.
Scotsman
Got it through golf now,, foursome played,me & buddy ,, wife's,great for short game and a couple of holes you can bring out the driver,, will play again there,
Great Par 3
I, family and friends love this course. It's a quick and easy way to practice your iron game, and the few holes on the back that are drivable. Highly recommend also great value
Fun course
Played here many times over many years. Course was very dry and dusty, needs significantly more watering.
Condition of 1.course and 2. greens
1. Mediocre- too many grassless patches on fairway without appearance of remedy
2. Putting lines and swale’s constantly disrupted by odd surface condition 1/3 need complete replacement
Good Friday round
If you are looking to play with family or some short holes for fun, this is the spot.
Good place for beginners as the holes avg 100-150 yards.
Not a bad course
Did not know it was a par 3 course. At least I think it is. Go with the right expectations. Work on hitting the greens and your chipping. Putting is hit and hope but if you go into it knowing this you will enjoy. Little hard for the ladies as there are no red tees, but we did was to have each whole apart for from the whites. Piece of clay was very slow as is a course that a lot of older golfers play. If you go by yourself play two balls.
Avoid at all costs
The guy at the front desk is absolutely miserable, staggered tee times is not practiced , price is outrageous for the small couse , several time not able to finish because pace of play is so slow so we left , if i didnt live down the road and liked the course i wouldnt ever come back , again that guy in the office is legendary miserable how is he still there, was do excited to here about the new ownership but NOTHING HAS CHANGED !!!!
Nothing redeemable here, we tried to find a positive.
First impressions are everything in my opinion. When walking into a club house, one might think that the staff knows why you are there. Not the case here. I was greeted with a what! I explained I had a tee time the gentleman who was behind the counter he did not care who or how many he just said “$23”. I mentioned to him that there was 2 of us. Again replied “46”. I thought wow this guy gets the customer service award of the month. Still I was looking for the positive. The I met the golf cart attendant. I asked him any cart? His response was with irritated look on his face and replied “yeah”. Still I was trying to be positive. Then I came around to the tee box. Which shares holes 1 and 10, that’s when Mr words comes out and starts emptying trash and talking while I’m trying to tee off. Totally helped my shot by talking in my swing. At this point now I’m really starting to not want to be positive any longer. So we make our to the green. This is where everything takes the turn for the worst. I have played for 30 years and have never scene greens that were in worse shape. I will give them that this summer has been one of the worst on records for rain but, many other courses in the area are in better shape. I was trying to avoid the crab grass and the sand trap on the greens. This course needs a lot of attention maybe more than the owner wants to put into it. Wrapping up if you are looking for a place to go and relax work on your game avoid this one. You will be treated like crap, then forced to go play on crap. The last point here is when trying to make run for it and leave you have to dodge the many golf wizards tailgating in the parking lot or there lack of. A bunch of middle aged men smashing beers and standing in the way. I hope for the owner that they get someone here to clean up, run off, and realize customer service is sometimes important to keep the doors open.
