Misleading
So played Red Course on Saturday. I ended up renting a golf cart but staff never told me that it was cart path only. If I knew that I probably would have not rented a cart. (Strike 1). Next they didn't mention that the greens were aerated and that the didn't properly fill all the holes on the green with sand. So the greens were challenging to putt on to say the least (Strike 2). I would have assumed that they rates should have been slightly discounted due to this but they weren't. Finally I get on the back nine and the pace of play went from being alright to literally waiting on every hole to tee off and hit the next shot (Strike 3). There was no ranger monitoring the round at all. This was quite a poor experience in my book.
Cancelled tee time
Course had frost delay, no notification if this online or by phone. Tee time was not cancelled and i was still charged.
Beautiful day at the Wheel
Very friendly staff, course in great shape after all the rain we’ve had.
Fun and challenging
Haven’t played as much this year but it’s always a pleasure to play Fairchild
Same Wheel
Been playing here my entire life and dont think the courses have been in better shape. Only issue is pace of play as always. Not enough course awareness and lack of rangers make it tough but the group in front wouldnt tee off on any of the par 4s until the group in front reached the green.
Not good after rain
The red course has poor drainage and there were entire wet poles and puddles on many of the fairways. Many of the traps also had major rivets from running water indicating some of the drainage greens was going into the sand traps.
The fairways and greens are in verry condition. Unfortunately the course does not have a warning horn for lightning.
Tee boxes
Every single tee box is in terrible condition-need to bring a hammer to get tees in the ground
Good local course
Great value for the price paid. All around in good condition.
Nice course friendly staff.
Had a great time at this course. Friendly staff and good conditions for October. Above average greens and fairways.
Rude players
Rude players…
I was simply asked by the starter to wait across the street on the first tee while the people on the Teebox finished teeing off. The next thing I know there’s a foursome directly behind me on the first Teebox when it was my turn. When I asked why they didn’t wait across the street as the rules are stated by the pro. I was accosted by one of the golfers very rudely.
WARNING: Don't Have Your Event Here!
A couple years ago I was at an event at this course and a rotting tree fell on our golf cart. It split all of my clubs in half and knocked me down. Instead of just replacing my clubs, they actually hired an attorney to fight the claim. It would have been more to hire an attorney and sue them then it would have been to replace the clubs so I had to drop the case. I have all the pictures. Just be careful. Pretty awful that they wouldn’t even replace the clubs. It’s not like I was suing them for physical damages. Awful people.
Course condition
Course was in great shape, fairway and greens well maintained, recommend Fairchild to anyone looking for a great day on the golf course!
Unimpressed
Holes 1, 9, 10 and 18 are extremely hilly and difficult.
The rest just seem very flat and long.
I won't be coming back.
First Time on the Red
First time at Fairchild & the Red. What a surprise,,,this course was totally different than we imaged one in Fairfield County. We had a great day & a great time, but this was a very hard course...lots of 400 yard par 4's and lots of huge ravines (can't think of any other way to describe the 1st, 9th, 10th & 18th holes). We really enjoyed playing there and the course was in great shape considering the drought. Definitely going back to try the Black course.
