Green at Tunxis Country Club

The course was fine. The only problem was the green had just been airated and the airated holes where not completely filled in with sand, which caused the ball to bounce around a bit.

This course was once one of the nicest courses around and always well maintained but is now just average at best. I know its fall and the leaves are falling, but to lose four balls in the fairway is beyond ridiculous and the overall conditions are just not that great.

This track has 45 holes. I was fortunate to play the green course again. From tee to greens the conditions were above average. The staff were more than professional and courteous. After my round I had time to squeeze in another 9 holes. I checked in to see if it was possible to play the Red course as this course is usually used for 9 hole players and I have never played it before, The gentleman at the counter said he just put out a group of 7 high schoolers on the tee, he said maybe they will let you go through. I asked him how much for the 9 hole re-round? He said "don't worry about it" I was more than surprised, I will definitely be playing here again. Good customer service gets my $$ all the time!!!

I have always wanted to play Tunxis as I heard it was a great course. Reading reviews the night before I was worried as they weren’t very positive. Wasn’t going to find another tee time and figured we would try it anyways. For $71 it was a big let down. The tee boxes were horrible, some having very long grass all over them, some having barely any grass with sand and crab grass. Greens were poor with dead spots and crab grass all around the fringe on all of them.

I think the fairways are cut to low. Pace of play on weekends is 5 1/2 hours. Need a ranger. Great layout and still a good value.

My group of 11 and I came down for a guys weekend last weekend. We were hit with bombshell after bombshell. The only bar/lounge open was the “broom room” which seats 3 people (literally) and has no AC. The out door patios are closed for the remainder of the season because tunxis had a Covid out break (8/13/2021), you’d think we would get a heads up? The tavern was closed. So essentially the only place to grab a bite to eat and have a beer was “mills truck stop diner” 4 miles off the 101. Because of excessive water there is 3 temporary greens and over four temporary tee boxes. When we asked for a refund they said they still think we can “have fun”. Yeah a lot of fun it is playing golf in the heat with no place to recover and relax with friends. Reopening for everything they told me is October 1st. How they still charge eveeyone is beyond me. I really hope Tunxis gets their act together. To top it off my room had no air conditioner. Because of the heat I spun in bed like a rotisserie for 2 nights. Never again. Beware of terrible Tunxis

Always enjoy all 45 holes at Tunxis GC. This round I was accompanied by my beautiful daughter who was home from college. We were lucky to get out a little early and were paired up with a young man and his GF, They played 9 holes and we finished the day with the course almost to ourselves. Conditions were very good, greens were perfect. My daughter was able to pull down her first "birdie"
All in all... a perfect day.

The course is nice. The course just needs some serious grooming. Weeds in the fairways, on the fringe and on the greens. Legit crabgrass. Even some of the tee boxes looked like you were hitting from the rough. It just needs to be groomed better. It could be awesome if better care was taken. Staff was great though.

I’ve played this coarse many times over the years and I’ve noticed the the coarse has declined, greens and tee boxes are in less than desirable condition. I’m not really sure why for the amount of money their charging and the amount of play it should be in much better shape

Very nice course. Pace was slow with 3 pot heads in front of us lighting up and swinging at air or clouds of smoke. Hoping for better luck next time!

Course is in great shape and we played 18 in 3 1/2 hrs.
