Sixteenth green. Stunning conclusion to an excellent par-4. A ferry is heading out toward Long Island Sound. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 05/19/2021

First Green: Ross liked hidden greenside bunkers, as a few have been here. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 05/19/2021

2nd, par-4. This hole’s fairway typifies those on the front side: wide and rolling. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 05/19/2021

The second. Railroad tracks, crossing this hole prior to the green, lend extra character. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 05/19/2021

Eleven: A great, strategic short 4-par, where a long bunker nearly engirds the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 05/19/2021

The fifteenth. 195 yards. Some of the course was partially remodeled (with several new holes added) in 1997. This is one of the ‘newer’ par-3’s. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 05/19/2021
Good course for the money.
Slow play but was told there was a tournament earlier. Fairly wide open course but still have to make some shots. Got to enjoy the sunset on holes 16 and 17 near the water which was very nice. Tees and rough could use some work

Course was in good condition , Obviously the
lack of rain in the Northeast affected the course but not dramatically ..
I have played the course B4 and look to come back
next year ..

Links type course w/3 holes on the water
Thought this would be a fast round (opening day NFL) but the abundance of walkers made for a long afternoon.
Course was in very good shape but some tee boxes were rock hard. nice layout with generous landing areas...scenery on water holes was worth the trip across the state. Will surely play again this fall.
Relaxed atmosphere
Nice course. Some dry spots. Pleasant overall. Nice view from the 17th hole. Sufficient selection of beverages and snacks
great day out at the shore
Took a friend who had lived all of his life in CT. but had never played there before. He was thrilled. The course was in good shape; challenging but fair greens, nice layout (no funk, quirky holes), open enough to hit away, with bunkers to make you think about your shots. And afterwards you can go find a nice place on the shore to eat. Already making plans to return.
Fast and Firm
Third time playing "Shenny" brought a friend and it was his first, course played fast and firm, greens in great shape and quick. Tee boxes VERY close to greens (and a few are in tough shape), making walking pretty easy and also making it a little uncomfortable for the approach shots that follow you. Great links style, definitely will play again. Par 3 fourth played into a steady wind and @190 to an upside-down bowl shaped green really hard hole. The one issue we had was we arrived early for an 11:45 tee time, chipped and putted then went in to check in, we were told we would be joining another twosome that had not arrived yet and when they did arrive the attendant would come get us. We went inside to the lounge and watched a little TV, came back out around 11:35 for time and was told that the twosome went out early with another group. So that put us alone with nothing but foursomes in front .We asked why you didn't come get us his response was "I didn't know you were in the lounge". We were just a little miffed. Our only saving grace was that when we were expressing our displeasure with the person behind the counter another twosome showed up for a later tee time and I asked if they want to go out now, with us and they agreed, thank god because it would have been a long day if that didn't happen.
Great greens
Fairways a bit beaten up. No one out there to speed up play. Poor yardage markers
A must play
A nicely designed course with a mix of both challenging holes and easy holes in a well maintained course. The 16th is a great hole to begin finishing your round with beautiful views of the waters edge and the opening of the Thames river.
A true classic
Played for the first time, and already an instant favorite. Great layout with plenty of challenge. Fescue and bunkers line each hole, bunkers placed strategically throughout the course. Greens played firm and true, and the links style fairways made this course unique like no others around. 16 and 17 gives some amazing views of the sound while 18 provides a good opportunity to finish with a birdie. Can't wait till my next round at shenny
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Shenecosett
Shenecossett is a superb Donald Ross golf course. Throughout this course you find signature features of Mr. Ross like the turtleback green on the tough par 3 fourth hole. Golfers of all abilities will find this course fun to play. The greens were in excellent shape and putted true. The pro shop staff was especially friendly. I had a great time talking to them about the course and it's history. I can't believe that there's a better value out there than Shenecossettt CC. Make the trip to play this Ross gem.
Great Course!
Always a good time at Shenny! Cool historic "Donald Ross" designed course near the ocean. Very open course with lots of fescue grass. Long par 4's are challenging while finishing holes by the ocean are scenic. Weekend play is Slow. Food inside is excellent.
Great course and challenge
I have played here several times and when in season this course looks and plays amazing. When the wind is blowing from the Long Island Sound and when you add the tall fescue grass, it has a links feel to it. I have played here before Shennecossett joined golfnow, and I'm super happy they have joined. I will definitely be playing here more often now.
Great value
$30 for 18 and a cart is a fabulous deal. Course in decent shape and well laid out, a lot of bunkers. No real cart path. The 15-17th holes are why you play this course, gorgeous. Slow pace and crowded/slow restaurant threw off time before round.
great day at Shenny
Course in great condition, had a nice time. Would play again this summer.
slow
slow play but what do you expect from a muni. Greens were fast but inconsistent. They are what make this course. Needs some care.
Picturesque course with great greens
Fabulous course, but a little over-priced. Sits on the mouth Thames river with some tricky wind conditions possible. Look for deals. Gas carts were slow. Greens were consistent and firm. #2 has fairway water on the right in which my ball plugged in the first cut. Staff was a little 'stuffy'. Restaurant was great, beverage cart was available. Bunkers were like concrete with stones on the front 9. Previous rain was cause.
