Blackledge Country Club - Gilead Highlands
About
Gilead Highlands, or the "New Course," joined the original golf course at Blackledge Country Club, Anderson Glen, in 2000. They share the same parkland setting but the courses are unique in character. The "Old Course" provides a more traditional round while Gilead Highlands is slightly shorter, but also a bit more challenging. The heavily wooded landscape can prove to be quite formidable and there are also a few water features that come into play throughout the golf course. The layout offers an interesting variety of holes from fun par 3s to demanding par 5s. The course begins with one of the front nine's most difficult par 4s. This dogleg right hole requires a tee shot with perfect placement to the left center of the fairway. Long hitters will enjoy this one, but be cautious of the out-of-bounds on the right.

One (435 yard par-4): The first fairway is broad and doglegs right, but it’s still no simple target to hit. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/26/2020

Seven: excellent example of playability in course design, as the marsh demands a forced carry, but with a somewhat forgiving landing strip beyond. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/01/2020

nice course
Course is very nice, we used a golf cart and a number of holes were roped off so access from cart path to fairways was limited. Lot of walking from the golf cart, would have been better to just walk the course. Some very scenic holes and the course was a pleasure to play. Staff was very accomodating and friendly. It was a one hour drive for us but well worth it. My only complaint is no driving range.
Great Features
Although the course had a great layout and mostly in good shape, the greens were extremely slow and poorly maintained as were the sand traps. The traps had not been raked that day at least. I would not go out of my way to play again!
Fathers day weekend round
Good course for the price ($45). Play was slow (5hr round) prob due to volume. Rangers did not push people until it was too late. Course was in great shape. Free water at several holes. Cart was a lemon. Don't know why they have more carts on the Gilead side. Putting green had flags without holes.
Great price; good condition
Course was in good shape and provided a solid pace of play with mediocre difficulty level layout.
Fun Course
Maybe it's early, but found that the bunkers were in bad condition and had rocks and pebbles throughout. Greens were all different colors and very difficult to read, and I'm sure that's due to the season/weather. I would definitely like to try it again and also play the Anderson course.
Golfcricket thank you for your comments. You are right that the conditions you mentioned are a result of the grass starting to grow again, and rainy days. I'm sure your next time out you'll love our greens. We feel they are the best around! Look forward to seeing you back soon.

Great course, can't wait to play there again. Greens were well taking care of, and fairways were great!
+A great deal on a fun course.
Gilead Highlands at Black Ledge CC in Hebron is one of this golfer's favorite tracks. After a substantial rain the previous night a few fairways were , as expected, a tad soggy. Got to play with two different twosomes as the first two only played nine holes. Both groups were enjoyable company and sunny weather in the 60's in March was certainly nothing to complain about.
If you haven't tried Gilead, give it a go-----you will not be disappointed.
Two very nice courses!
It was a cold but sunny day. Met with friends that are avid golfers and we all thought the course was in very good shape. The greens were as good as could be for mid November. Nice choice to meet since there are two 18 hole courses here.
Great Condition
The course was in perfect condition. A perfect way to spend a beautiful Fall day
New Favorite Course
I really enjoy playing Gilead Highlands at Blackledge. It has a private course feel, and the conditions are excellent. No two holes are even remotely similar, so there is no boredom here. From the first hole to the last, this is a truly enjoyable golf experience.
Great for earlybirds
Nice facility course in top condition for the area with our drought conditions. Lush fairways and consistent greens.
Blackledge Gilead = fun day of golf
If you're looking for a fun day of golf try the Blackledge Gilead course. Played from the whites and while the course is rather short, it made for a very enjoyable round. Course was in very good condition, the greens were a bit slow, but rolled nicely and were in good shape. Played during the week in just over 4 hours which was great, as I've heard the norm on the weekends is 5+.
Beautiful but..
Too many people on the course 5 1/2 hrs. Waited 10 minutes on every tee.
Excellent Conditions on Gilead
Course was in great condition and pace of play was your typical avg pace approx. 4hrs . Recommend either course as I am sure Anderson Glen conditions are just as good as Gilead's
Love the Gillead
This course is a little off the beaten path but so worth the drive. Sunday round took 4 1/2 hour, nice conditions all around on a challenging course. The Anderson (sister course) seems to be played more because its an easier layout. Had a great day.
Gilead course
i have played both Anderson Glen and Gilead in the past and I am afraid of reviewing this course because it is a true gem! Anderson Glen is the main course where their main restaurant is Gilead has a nice quaint snack bar and dining room in its tiny club house. Anderson Glen is an ok track but Gilead is the true GEM it is a Fox Hop Yard quality course for a fraction of the price!
Nice Course
Fairways were cushy and greens were soft.Good variety of holes.
Fun course
Nice golf course in very good condition- Rangers were out and trying to move play along- but it was slow this happens sometimes at this course- good value for your golfing dollar!
Head Pro, Kevin Higgins, does it right!
Both Gilead and Anderson Glen are fantastic tracks that are well-maintained and quite challenging. The greens are medium size, and the ball runs true & fast. The tee boxes and fairways are mowed tight and there are no bad lies anywhere in the fairways.
I highly recommend that you play either, or both, courses at some point this season.
Great job, Kevin!
Marflo I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I checked our maintenance log and saw that the bunkers were raked that day (as they are every day) maybe you played early before they were done? As far as the greens go, it is a constant battle this time of year when it is hot and humid there is a fine line between keeping them healthy and a little longer vs risking their health and making them faster. Again, however, when looking at my logs I see that they were rolled and double cut the very next day after you played. I'd love for you to give us another try!
