Gilead Highlands, or the "New Course," joined the original golf course at Blackledge Country Club, Anderson Glen, in 2000. They share the same parkland setting but the courses are unique in character. The "Old Course" provides a more traditional round while Gilead Highlands is slightly shorter, but also a bit more challenging. The heavily wooded landscape can prove to be quite formidable and there are also a few water features that come into play throughout the golf course. The layout offers an interesting variety of holes from fun par 3s to demanding par 5s. The course begins with one of the front nine's most difficult par 4s. This dogleg right hole requires a tee shot with perfect placement to the left center of the fairway. Long hitters will enjoy this one, but be cautious of the out-of-bounds on the right.

Highlands at their best

First time playing here.Got a great tee time on a Saturday and a great price. Pace of play was great, we were not rushed nor did we hold up play. Staff very friendly and the course was in great shape.
***Watch the directional signs on then back nine as it can get confusing where the Highland tee boxes are.(there are 36 holes at this course and the other 18 tees are close by).
The greens were fast for my liking and made putting a challenge for me but they were in great shape.
Some holes roped off the entire length of the fairway so using a cart here can slow play down if your ball is on the opposite side of the fairway..
Great course we will be back.

Always a great experience.

The Gilead Highlands tract is always fun, many interesting holes, a few reacable par 5s [from the blues] and plenty of trouble everywhere on the back nine. Scores were not great but the match was... Pace of play should not be a scoreable rating item for weekend play, where do you go on a Sunday and complete a round in 3 1/2 hours [unless you are going out at the crack of dawn] ???

As far as conditions, green were a bit slower than I remember, the fairways were ok but heavily played.

This is another solid course in the greater Hartford area, we always play it several times every year.

The food in the main clubhouse is very good and priced reasonably. Give Blackledge a try !!!

Great time!!

Staff was great! We were pressed for time and arrived 6 minutes prior to start time. We checked in, loaded our cart and made our tee time with a minute to spare. Course was in great shape. Greens great, fairways were well defined. Course is well maintained, staff was cutting grass on a few holes and worked around us well. Pace of play moved right along. Even the weather was exceptional. All around great experience!

Blackledge CC Anderson Glen

Overall the course is in great shape! Played Anderson Glen the free course yardage book was very helpful. The greens where in great shape and rolled at about a 10. So the speed was great for a public course. The bunkers need a lot of work lots of visible rocks.

Slow play for a 6500 yard course

Green speed was slow, but not as slow as the pace of play. Other than the two groups in front of us the course didn't seem like it was crowded. There were no course rangers to be seen and it took over 5 hours to play on a Friday afternoon. The rest of the course was in fine shape and your tee shots needed to be straight as there are many over hanging branches just to the side of many tees that were to easy to hit.

Would play it again

The course was very nice .. Very green. The fairways were in great shape . The greens maybe were a little long and slowish.. But that's the only think negative about the course .. And they weren't even that bad just a lil long for my liking.. Maybe they were planning on mowing the next day. The bunkers were nice and soft. Overall great experience nice course.. Joined w a random golfer who was pleasant and funny.. Great day my other 2 buddies were pleased. I shot 79 I coulda putted better.

very visually pleasing

there is absolutely nothing not to like about this course. it gives one the opportunity to work the ball both right and left and each hole is distinctly different. fun course to play and a great layout.

Need rangers to speed up play more important is to put locks on water coolers. I seen people going into coolers taken out ice with bare hands.

Good course

Overall conditions were above average. The course was congested and the play was slow, every shot required a wait and made the overall experience very dissatisfying. The only saving grace was the course, I'm not sure if this pace is typical on the weekends after 12pm, I would not play during peak hours, everyone in the group was disappointed with the pace of play.
