Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Connecticut
Great course & staff!!
Certainly one of Connecticut’s gems!!! Standards are always A+!
Considering all the rain that we've had, the course is great shape. Really enjoy playing there
Great people and good course
Def worth the trip. Has nice layout and nice greens w friendly staff.
Would def play again.
This is a great golf course
I've played this course off and on for 20 years. Its a great layout - challenging, fair, diverse. It's always been in very-very good condition for a public course.
Probably the best "value" I've ever played.
The staff and town have run a great/friendly operation for all 20 of those years. Thank you!
Been looking at this place for a few months on Golfnow. I’m from Westchester County in NY and during this time of Covi-19 I’ve had to travel a bit to find a place to play. Took the 1 1/2 hour ride on a dreary day and found the course uncrowded. Was greeted by the starter Arman and immediately the day brightened up. His people skills are tremendous as I’m sure the management is well aware of. It was about 42 degrees, windy, periods of light rain and course was wet from previous rains. That may be the only negative thing I experienced. Some areas don’t drain very well. Played from the white tees and found a good mixture of short & long approach shots. Greens were in pretty good condition for the weather conditions. Would definitely come back. Course would be beautiful on a nice day!
Enjoyed my round
Nice course and will play again. starts out pretty normal and after the first few holes i was thinking the course was "ok" but as the round went the more I enjoyed it. holes got more interesting and fun and by the time I was done I was telling myself I'll play here again for sure. you can pretty much hit your driver on most of the holes that are not par 3's which I really like.
Round took at most 4 hours which is great.
Very friendly staff and starter.
Can't wait to see this place when it warms up and the course is in a little better shape.still early in the season.
Damning with faint praise
I really wanted to love this course.
I saw that it was ranked among the state’s best by GA and was really excited to play. But the only thing that came to mind after I holed out on 18 was... meh.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s a nice course. Parkland style, pleasant golf, good conditions, nice staff. But as I write this the day after, I really can’t remember an outstanding hole. If I was a golfer who had a regular tee time every Saturday to socialize with my buddies and use golf as an excuse to drink beer, this place would be just fine. But as a golfer who takes the game seriously, this course is very uninspiring.
Distance is a factor as well. I live an hour and a half away, and to do a 3 hour round trip for a golf course, it better be worth it. I’m sorry but no for this one. If I lived closer, sure I would play it often at the right price.
So my takeaway from this is beware of the high ratings. This is probably a case of high ranking due to enthusiasm by the locals. Which is fine and good, but not for me.
Hi, thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. Please know the current conditions are by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We will continue to work towards a 5-star experience and we hope to see you back at Timberlin Golf Club in the future!
Perfect day and perfect conditions
First time playing there. Course was in good shape. The pace was very good. We finished the round in 4 hours. The staffs was Excellence and friendly. The course layout is very good. We were playing with 2 locals and know the course well. Hole 1 and 10 is walking down. Hole 9 and 18 walking back up. So this course is very easy to walk with a push cart.l in case you want to have some exercise.
First time, very impressed
Considering what’s going on right now it was nice to see a course open, with carts and food. I played on a Sunday and the rate was very fair and the pace of play was great, hardly any waiting. The starter (Arman) was extremely accommodating and pleasant to talk to. Something you rarely find with starters in CT. Course was in good shape for this early in the year. It’s a very playable course for all skill types. They also have a driving range which is good to know for the future. Overall i would highly recommend!
Glad to get a round in somewhere
We traveled 2 1/2 hrs to play a round got there got out 40mins earlier, staff great and the course in great shape, challenging off blue tee’s, course in great shape greens superb would recommend to anyone to play
Best course I've been to
First time at the course and the immediately I was greeted. The customer service was more than outstanding and courteous. In particular Armen and Paulie was more than helpful in getting me out going to play as soon as possible. Course was challenging and had a great time. I would and definitely play again and recommend to friends and family. Thanks for everything you guys do over there at Timberlin course
Very good shape for late season golf. Pace of play was excellent. Greens smooth and true.
Another splendid day of golf on one of CT’s best golf course.
Great Value and personel.
Our group tries to play Timberlin at least every three weeks. It is by far one of our favorite courses. The reason is not only the course layout and conditions but primarily because of the personnel from the restaurant staff to the starter and Marc, the pro. Can't wait to play it again.
Course in great shape. Some difficult holes to make you work. Staff excellent especially the starter.
Great except for..
Our foursome had a great time playing Timberlin today until we got to the 18th tee. A guy with a cart w/clubs was putting down seed in the divots. I guess he gets free golf compensation. This freakin guy was right in our landing area for our drives for a good 5 minutes. Never waved us up. I just went ahead and hit and almost Hit him.
Two other players had this idiot directly in their line of sight with his cart blocking them for their approach shots.
We complained to him once we got closer. He was totally clueless.
Saw him inside talking to the counter guy complaining about “us”. ?!
Someone needs to to train this guy to properly work WITH the golfers on the golf course.
The course was awesome , even with the downed trees on 10th hole!!!!
