Sunny day...
A relatively tame layout with some scoring opportunities and five testy par-3d.
Could use major maintenance
Fairways and greens are okay. Greens are slow. The second cut is terribly maintained. The carts are GPS locked and would lock even when your on the cart path. Great location, beautiful scenery but the course needs to be better maintained.
Good, not great
It was a good course with nice features and some challenging shots, especially if you're not in the fairway. Ultimately, the 3 hour front 9 made it a place to which I'm unlikely to return. We witnessed a group on the 16th green look for a ball for a full 8 minutes while we waited for the group in front of us on the 4th hole. There were no rangers out there and the overall quality of play was very poor. Another reason we need pace of play ambassadors and rangers as well. The fescue is to blame for a majority of the time spent looking for balls, but give it a once over and call it quits. If you don't find it immediately, you're not going to find it and that's okay!
The absolute highlight of the round was the cart girl who, when we asked if she had any more sandwiches, went back to the clubhouse to deliver some much needed nourishment due to the aforementioned 3 hour front 9.
It's a beautiful course, but the pace was just really really brutal.
South Bay player
The course layout is amazing. Practically every hole was different. Beautiful course!
Get A Refund
The course should have been closed. All fairways were in poor condition due to heavy rain a night before and the past week. Big puddle of water, soapy wet fairways and roughs made hitting balls and walking impossible. Many car paths were flooded, and carts CAN'T drive through. Plywood boards were laid on soak roughs to let carts drive over. Bunkers were like rock. Greens were too slow and rough to putt. If the course was closed, it would have saved thousands of dollars for maintenance or repairs. I WANT A REFUND FOR OUR FOURSOMES.
Absolutely the most sand I have ever seen on greens....
I HATE when courses(and Golf Now) doesn't post they just aerated the greens.I wish I took a picture to post absolutely ridiculous, first hole some of the sand was 3/4' deep and you couldn't see any grass. The greens were literally white,I wish the sand traps had as much sand as the greens,I don't get it if a course has that much sand laying around then why not put it in the bunkers right?OK other then that the day was a perfect sunny day and the company they paired us up with was great.Very Very wet fairways with many with 2-3" standing water, some areas much deeper.3-4 weeks it should be playable if mother nature gives this course a brake.Cart pths flooded where you needed to go off on grass yet the cart would start beeping and shutdown(alot of the time even when you where on the cart path, but would restart and go then stop then restart and go so very funny at times. But still this will be my last time here, its an ok course but these kind of things just frustrate me and with so many better courses(like Indian Valley) close by no sense in dealing with dillemas like these and courses that want to get over on you
Gusty Wind
It was gusty and cold shiny day when we played yesterday. The course was not busy on this cold and windy day. The staff was friendly and she let us start 30 minutes early (no one before or after us). The course was in good condition except one or two fairways, greens were excellent and bunkers were fluffy. The roughs were long and messy and we lost a few balls because we couldn’t see the balls. We couldn’t play well because of the wind blew the balls off track. Balls changed directions with the winds as we putted.
My advise is not to play on windy and old days. But Peacock Gap is highly recommended on shiny and calm days..
Long time review
Due to the fact I had missed a time time at another course, I decide to play Peacock for the 1st time in about 3 years. The course was in decent shape, fairways were still affected by the rains we had, so mud balls on many drives resulted. The course is extremely flat, good for people who want to walk it, which is the majority of players. However, this affects the amount to time that is required for a round. I'll return only as a last resort, even though this course is the nearest to where I live
Fun Course, no Cell Service
Usually, I enjoy being disconnected from the world while golfing, but at this golf course, they don’t have a drink cart, you’re meant to order by cell phone. That wouldn’t be a problem if they had any cell service on this entire golf course. Two different cell carriers, zero service over the entire course… I’d at least put in a snack phone on #8 or something. Other than that it was an excellent value for the money and a very challenging, fun course.
