Many fairways at Portland plunge downward on their way to their greens. The first certainly exemplifies this, making for a tricky approach shot. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/25/2023

The 10th: Short par-4 that can be driven, but that’s a hard risk-reward proposition given what lies behind the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

A commanding hole in the form of a Switchback, twelve is also aesthetically impressive. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

Sixteen:one of the inward half’s two excellent par-5s; its green is fortified by a pair of yawning bunkers. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

Cornish prefers large bunkers here, often well visible from fairways. This is a brutal uphill 4-par. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 05/23/2020

The back nine is tight
The course is not long, but is tight in places which makes is challenging.
There are a number of par 4 holes where a driver is not recommended off the tee.
The greens were in excellent shape for Mid-March in CT.
Portland golf course is a hilly and fun course.
Play this course many times, it's a very nice course Great layout always in good condition
We love hearing from our repeat golfers! Thank you for the kind words and we certainly hope to see you again soon!
Early Spring 2016
Great conditions for early spring play. Pricing is best around.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! We hope you make it back out to the course soon!
Fall Golf
Good pace of play, leaf removal completed, greens in good shape.
Porland
Great course. iPads in cart are awesome and spot on for your distances.
10 year hiatus
It's been 10 years since I've played Portland so I had forgotten much of the course and its layout. Since the greens were recently aerated I could not rated them high or low. The undulating course plays very short but the frequent downhill, sidehill, and uphill lies make it more challenging than the yardage. The fairways were a bit harder than other public courses I have played with no sand in the cart to fix divots. Fairways and hazards are fair and the starter and pro shop help was very friendly. Overall an average course.
Aerated greens and sand filled? Playable or rolling untrue? Playing tournament here Saturday October 3rd, hoping for good conditions.
Too Narrow Too Blind
This course has way too many blind shots from the tees and from the fairways. You need to be deadly straight with your drive to hit any of the fairways. Trouble abounds left, right, and center (second hole). The staff for checking in, starter, and food are all exceptional and make it easy to get off the first tee. The little snack shack at the 10th tee was a nice treat and the girl working there was efficient, friendly, and pleasant.
the course was a little long for me from the white tees. I would have liked to have seen senior tees.
The greens were in excellent condition as were the fairways.
Very good condition
Course in very good condition and greens were quick and true. Especially considering the lack of recent rain.
Pin locations were difficult to almost unfair on a more than a few holes. Guessing that hole locations we experienced (we played on a Friday) was to keep the easier weekend hole locations from receiving too much foot traffic.

Always a good time. Course is always good. Unfortunately the tee boxes just got aerated so the Tees were all grouped together but maintenance must get done so no hard feelings! Thx Portland!
Course is in great condition
Play there often. Course is in great condition. Staff is friendly.
Perfect Greens
Nice friendly staff, nicely manicured course especially the greens. Price was a bit steep, but certainly not too overpriced.
Good course
Everything was great. I would like to see the greens a little bit faster. Overall, very nice. I'll be back.
Slowplay
Course in excellent condition staff very friendly pace of play excellent would highly recommend
portland
This course is tight and yardage is hard to predict. As a single general rely on the starter to introduce to the group you are joining.
Have to say I had the most disturbing group I had the displeasure of being with.
Portland Golf Is Good
Great play on a Friday morning. I was grouped with other sand made agood foursome. There are blond shot that will be better next time.
Experience Helps
I definitely enjoyed playing this course for the first time. The layout was unique and exciting. However, numerous blind tee shots can land you in trouble if you don't know the course. GPS in cart definitely helps, but I would suggest a long iron off of most par 4s. Greens rolled nice. Will certainly be back.
Pro shop miscue!
Great course. However, We were a bit disappointed by the pro shop. We were playing quickly and they decided to sneak a group out on the back nine just before we were making the turn. Our round came to a screeching halt. We ended up waiting on every shot on the back nine while the group that got put in front of us had an open nine holes. Other than that the course was in very nice shape. It was just frustrating.
Well worth the money
Course was in great condition, staff very friendly and helpful. Played this course years ago, in much better shape this go around.
We appreciate the feedback and great tips, jessieg2! We're so happy to hear that you had a fun and challenging round with us!
