Interesting layout
Golf Now deal is very deceiving. Site shows round with cart. When we arrived they told us it was a pull cart. They would not give us the advertised rate. Nearby home construction is distracting at the back of the course.
Worth the trip
A really nice course with plenty of challenges. Greens were in great shape. Some minor repairs going on which should be fixed soon, and they should NOT let walkers out on Sunday morning in June. Other than that it was great.
Diamond in the rough!
I played this course for the first time, but not the last. It's under new ownership, and I had a chance to play the back nine with him; a very dynamic guy with big plans for the course which will bring me back to play again. Terrific pace of play, the fairways and greens were in great shape, too. The bunkers need work, that's about the only negative. It was a little buggy, but some spray took care of that. The course itself is challenging but not cruel. There is some construction going on next to the course but it did not interfere with play. Good course, excellent value.
Developing Nicely
This course is under new ownership and is still working out some of the kinks. I prepaid with GolfNow.com for 18 holes and received tee time conformation from North Ridge. There was some confusion when I checked- in, but they eventually found my tee time. Without explanation I was told that the front 9 was closed and that if I wanted to play 18 holes that I could play the back twice - the second nine was brutally slow and I skipped three holes to get around some novice golfers.
Play this course
Great course, they are updating the carts, paths, and tee boxes. I would like to see the rough get in better shape but overall a GREAT play!
The ghetto boy's
North ridge is a beautiful course for any level of folders. The Staffs are extra friendly which make u feel real good about yourself. The fairwsys&green are in perfect condition. I would recommend this course to everyone I know I would recommend people or folders to eat in 19th hole. They have a beautiful patio to set & watch the other folders come in while your enjoying your food& bevarage&listen to the live band every Saturday night.
Spring is (finally) here!
Started day at 68 degrees. Maintenance did great job on fairways and greens. Extra clean, all over. Attendant had golf cart ready at my car. Friendly environment. Started first hole earlier as walker gentleman waved me through. Round was done in less than 3.5 hours at 78 degrees. Will be back.
New name, new look
Fairways have been opened up and seemed to be missing some trees...greens were perfect and some difficult. New owners are smart to be involved with GolfNow.,,highly recommend.
Enjoyable Course
Course was in good condition but the rough had tall grass that made it slower to locate ball and there were too many mosquitoes. The course was challenging, requiring controlled shots to avoid the trees on most holes. Enjoyed the challenge. Will definitely return.
Great Value. Each Hole A Unique Challenge
Got a great deal on golfnow. Played alone at 7am. Each hole had a unique challenge and some fun risk/reward options. It's a good layout, mostly winding through dense woods. Part of the back 9 wraps around a pond. The biggest bunker I ever saw took up almost the entire area between the tee box and the green on a par 3. Lots of hills and undulation. Challenging pin locations and greens. Very fun to play. The vibe there is kinda of caddyshack-like. I didn't see anyone wearing jeans or a tee shirt but everyone was laid back, friendly, and professional.
My only major complaint was the condition of the cart paths. There are some really bumpy rides in which the golfer is better off just staying off the cart path more often than not. Some places need pavement and others could get by with some gravel. Another complaint albeit-only a minor one, is that there are no signs directing people towards tee boxes, some places with a simple layout can get away with that but I think North Ridge's layout can get tricky in a few places.
When I showed up at 7am the grounds crew were cutting the grass and the trimmings were all over the course but as my round progressed I noticed that was no longer the case-they probably just needed the time to go back and clean them up. So I give them a pass on that. It's obvious that the new owners are putting a lot of TLC into the course b/c when I went it seemed there was a grounds crew on every hole mowing etc. But again, if you want a nice course you have to let the people take care of it so it really didn't bother me. So long as they aren't out there all day when the course is really busy. There was also some construction going on right next to the course which is a bit unsightly(why people want to have golf balls hit through their kitchen window is a topic for another day). Another suggestion would be for them to have some groupon deals in addition to golfnow. Say like a 2 for $60-$70. I love to have those groupons in my back pocket and be able to plan ahead with a good deal. North Ridge can really be something if they continue to market towards new and younger golfers while offering awesome deals.
Either way they're on the right track-just don't do something stupid like turn it into a 9 hole and sell condos next to the property.
Oh yeah-last suggestion, throw in some planting/flowers by the tee boxes. Again, that is a minor upgrade which classes up the place. Anyways, all the important things are there...just keep it up.
Bad
Round took 5 hours and it was a bit expensive for the quality, a round not worth a $40
Much improved
The new management has done a great job. Not only is the course in better condition than ever before -- with greens and fairways consistently better than they've been in previous seasons -- they've taken out trees and overhanging limbs in a really sensible manner, making it an improved experience for serious golfers. Previously, the course too often had trees and limbs that would punish even great drives -- you could be 275 down the right side of the fairway on No. 11, for instance, and would be faced with a tree hanging over the entire green -- making it a "tricked up" experience. Those are gone. While the course still challenges on ball placement -- you can't spray it and score here -- it's now fair. Much improved, from the course to the clubhouse.
Great course
Really liked this course, very challenging off the fairways. Difficult to play through trees. Will play again.
Course review
Course was fun to play. Greens and fairways in
excellent condition.
beautiful course
well maintained beautiful course tree lined fairways fast and true greens some water hazards that challange all . very enjoyable course rode today but is an easy walk,. inside ammenities are terrific clean and updated lockers and showers .brand new bar and restaurant food is terrific and reasonable.will be here often
Under Repair
This course is a few years out from being worth the money. Understanding that this has recently become North Ridge from the old Pine Valley - but nothing has changed, very little expected to and I would have expected a discount to players during this transition.
Worth seeing again
If you have been to this course before and you weren't impressed, go again now. The course and facilities looked great, the new upgrades, additional staff and updated bar and snack bar really add what it was missing. The course has been manicured very well and I look forward to playing there more and seeing what is coming in the future.
Great improvements - staff very accommodating
This was my first visit to the course since North Ridge to over. I must say that they have made improvements that enhance the golf experience.
Great course.
I love this place. The pro shop and food area are dated but who cares. The course is fun but tight. Lots of character.
Thank you very much for your constructive feedback Euley from Bristol and I hope to see you back at North Ridge very soon!
