Worth a Round
Played the course today with the Safari Club and enjoyed the round. Some interesting and challenging holes that held your interest. Keep the ball in the fairway and you have an opportunity to post a good score with fairways and greens in excellent condition.
Club house staff was friendly. While teeing off on the 6th hole the grounds staff tuned on the fairway and greens sprinklers. They left them on for both my twosome and the twosome behind us. We could not play the hole and was extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism displayed by the grounds crew. We wont be going back.
Second time playing Raceway and first time in December. Tees, fairways, and greens all in great shape on a 40 degree day when hardly anybody else was playing. Tree-lined fairways for the most part with back-to-back par 5's on the front nine, one of which is a double dog-leg where you have to hit over a pond to reach the green. Par 5's are all pretty short. Only thing I did not like about the course is the bunkers. No sand in them, just crushed pebbles, which is much different than playing out of sand. Also, carts have no plexiglass so if it is windy, you will feel it.
Love playing this golf course
Great course, fin to play. Always in great condition and additionally staff is friendly, courteous and professional.
Great Course for a great price
Although the golf course amenities are moderate the course itself is first class. The greens are in terrific shape and if you like to grip and rip it this course offers you those opportunities on many of the holes. The holes are very interesting and will test your game. You will truly enjoy your round of golf at Raceway without paying a small fortune.
Love playing this golf course
It poured yesterday and this morning, only reason I gave course average conditioning. Great course love playing it very fun. Staff is amazing always very professional and courteous. Again love playing course and can't wait to go back.
Played here on 9/19/18 with the Safari Club. Course was in very nice condition -- even with all the rain that we had recently. It drained well. Greens putted very true. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Had a nice meal in the tavern afterwards. New England clam chowder was out of this world! Looking forward to playing here next year.
Safari Club Outing
The course,,, not in bad shape. The day before we had 3" of rain so there was standing water and wet conditions. But the course was in pretty good shape. The food was good also.
Its obvious that Golf Now members are second citizens. It was very obvious in tone of voice, demeanor and professional courtesy.
Questions about the starter, the golf cart, and tee time were met with a aloof and disenchanted answer. I guess they don't like you when you don't pay them.
WORST SET OF Range GOLF BALLs EVER.
SLICES, Holes, loose covers and for 10 dollars.
No senior tees on most holes.
The whole experience was aggravating and so insensitive.
I'm gonna play CT NATIONAL from now on.
It's light years better.
If Raceway was closer than an hour from home, I'd play this course much more often. Have played this course about 10 times since 2012. This course is a real bargain for $38.00 walking after 1PM on a weekend. Great layout, a few water holes, a few doglegs, some tight but not menacing holes, some short and some long par 4s, but most of all - great hole designs, each hole very different from one another - really is a hidden gem in Northeast CT. Hot dog shack on 13th teebox, drinking water every fifth hole or so. Condition of the course is above average and the greens are usually on the slow side. Because there are only a few public courses in this neck of the woods, I do believe this course does get a lot of play so therefore pace of play may be slower than most courses.
Very nice course
Course was in real good shape considering the hot weather we have been getting.
Overall the course is in good condition the greens were fast great time
Cut the rough and push the pace!
Course layout rather unique in spots, but difficult to enjoy the course for two reasons:
1) the rough is too long! Very frustrating to hit a shot 5-10 feet off the fairway and then not be able to find the ball. This happened to both of our players on several occasions throughout the day.
2) pace of play - why are we waiting around all day? The foursome in front of us was slow. Ok, PUSH them along or facilitate a play-through. Ranger hung with us for a couple holes, but did nothing to move things along ahead. Maybe slow down the tee time interval?
My golf time is hard to get and sacred. Don’t want to be frustrated the whole time, the sport’s hard enough as it is.
