Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane
About
Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane is situated in the quiet town of Woodbridge, just 20 minutes from New Haven. Formerly known as Oak Lane County Club, the course was both renamed and renovated when it was acquired by the management team at The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford. Many of the holes were updated but the golf course retained its challenging but playable nature. Though the course is player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels, there are still several challenges in store. Numerous strategically placed bunkers lurk along the greens and towering trees also frame most of the holes. The holes are mostly straightforward with a few tricky doglegs to keep you on your toes. You'll also be confronted with the occasional water hole. Both your accuracy and short-game skills will be tested at Tradition Golf Club at Oak Lane.

Traditions Oak Lane
The course was in good condition but a little wet in some areas due to all of the rain. The carts had GPS so you knew your distance for each shot. $70 plus tax for a round was a little expensive.
Overall, good day on the links
Course was in amazing shape. Greens were in great shape and quick. Fun place to play. The golf and Dinning/Bar staff were also very friendly. It might not mean much to you, but the golf cart attendant that carries the beverages around was very courteous and had golf etiquette. The only downfall yesterday was the pace of play. We were behind a two-some, three-some in front of them, and a foursome in front of them. Yet behind us there was a three some always hitting into us and we waited every shot on the last 11 holes, that was frustrating, especially on a Tuesday morning.
It was great to see some substantial work being done to the bunkers. This was an area that all my friends and I felt the same way. They needed renovation! Price was good because booked through golf now, but pricing for weekends Especially, Still little high considering to conditions and all the areas that were being worked on. Still a pleasant round, will see you soon
Cracking Course
Really enjoyed the course and loved the layout/variety of different holes. Not overly long but challenging with some holes that you can really get after. Strikes a great balance of tough shots mixed with getable holes. The Par 3’s were a lot of fun and the 9th is an incredibly fun hole to play. Creeks and hazards are well placed to make the shorter par-4’s trickier. Greens were pretty solid and consistent with subtle breaks so they were challenging to read but true. Really slow against the grain, but incredibly fast downhill. Pace of play was terrible though and the ranger (while a super nice guy) only realized when we were on 15 and didn’t do much to speed things up. 18 took close to five hours which was frustrating. But that was my only real gripe. Great range facilities, staff were friendly and I feel like it’s very good value for a really fun track. Probably not for beginners though. I played with my pal who’s a +2 handicap who shot a 75/76 off the whites, so it can punish you on certain holes. However, any single digit to mid 20 type handicaps would have a great time here. Highly recommend!
Huge Disappointment
Nohanicapped parking; In fact didn't even reserve a few front spots in single large parking lot far from course
Requires cart sharing even with strangers who may not be vaccinated. WIll not allow golfer to pay extra to be safe in single cart
Doesn't require masks indoors.
Ciurse seems not to live in these times
Birdies of Cash
You must be the invisible golfer as no one tee off at 1:20. Glad you had a nice round though. . Ask the 1:40 group and 2:30 group how their rounds was when all of us were on the 14th tee box waiting on the 1:00pm group.
Great customer service as usual
I play Oak Lane 2-3 times per month. I played this past Saturday and had a 1:20 starting time. While I was talking to the starter the previous reviewer was telling and carrying on trying to bully the bag boy into letting his group go out in front of a few others. The staff was explaining why that wasn’t going to happen. He purchased a discounted tee time, if he wanted to play earlier than that he should have bought one earlier. He even went as far to say “I guess I’ll have to destroy them in a review” I don’t think it’s fair to allow a customer that buys a Hot Deal to bash a course that requires you play at the time you booked. As usual great job Oak Lane!
Staff makes you feel unworthy
We booked a hot deal for 3 golfers. We thought the time was 1:30pm so we arrived around 1:00pm. Upon arrival we were told the time was 1:50pm ok our mistake. As there was no other golfers waiting tee off we asked if we could get out early. One of the staff looked and seemed to be ok mentioning 2 cart numbers. Then another staff member says we have no carts and we have to wait until our 1:50 tee time. From 1:00pm until 1:40pm 1 single golfer with a hand cart tee’d off. I asked multiple times if we could get out and we’re told since we had a 1:50pm Hot deal we could not go out early. There was a 4 some scheduled for 1:40pm. At 1:35pm only 2 of the 4 checked in. I asked if we could go at 1:40pm and they take our 1:50pm time. I was told no as now there was a 4th joining us at 1:50pm. At 1:40pm they send 3 of the 4 off as we stand there waiting. At 1:48 we get handed the keys to our cart and there is no 4th joining us. We tee off and by the 8th there is now a 3 group back up as the group from 1:40pm us at 1:50pm have caught up to the 1:00pm foursome. By the 11th hole we have a single join us and the 2:30pm group has joined the wait as we’re on the 14th hole. This all could of been avoided letting us go anywhere from 1:10pm - 1:40pm. We asked multiple times spoke to the ranger twice on the course and we were told policy. On multiple time we were told we book a Hot Deal and made to feel like we were second class. Never will I golf here again and will advise all others to “be aware “. Entire staff was rude and one of the staff stared us down until we drove away. This is not how anyone should be treated.
In today’s economy I applaud everyone working, but at least try to have a good attitude.
Picture Perfect
Had the first tee time, played in 3 hrs. 10 mins.
The course was in beautiful shape! Would definitely recommend playing this course!!!
Great Course
We just bought a second/beach home in the area and we’re looking for a great local course. Found it.
Great conditions and friendly staff
Course is in great shape and staff members are friendly. White spray paint inside cups are a nice touch. Sand traps are getting upgraded.
Not sure you should be knocking the place for sending you to the tee at your tee. You book a hot deal for a discount in exchange for playing when they want you to. This place is great, played many times, and they treat you right assuming you aren't a jerk to them.
