Reviews
Nice course but slow play
The course is in very nice condition. Nice layout, not overly challenging for an experienced golfer. Starter was very friendly and since it was my first time playing there, he spent a few minutes describing the course to me. Nice guy! The only problem was the pace of play...it took over 6 hours to play 18 holes! Awful! The groups ahead of me just played slower and slower as the round went on. There was no on-course "ranger" to do anything about it either. I read other reviews that complained about slow play too. I mean, 6 + hours to play 18 holes of golf...come on, the course ain't that hard!
Good course for the money
Played on Friday afternoon.
It was very slow play. But for a spring round, the course was in pretty good shape.
Unappealing game, great staff.
On-site staff was great and accommodating. The amenities and course conditions(even for early season) were absolutely horrendous. Course has seen MUCH better days.
I love Delcastle
Always a pleasure to play Delcastle. Course was in good condition. Looks like there doing some tree work. Ed Ault did a nice job on this one. Staff was friendly and efficient. This piece of property is a nice walk. If you've never played this course your missing out. Go play it!
Thank you for the glowing review, Bruins19! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your experience at Delcastle. Our team takes great pride in maintaining the course and providing top-notch service. We appreciate your support and hope to see you back on the green soon!
Winter Conditions
Even after rain the night before the course was dry for the most part. Greens as fast as they are in the summer. Highly recommend.
It’s What I Expected
Pro shop staff were nice. Starter was an ***hole, not my first run in with him either. This guy leaves a very poor first impression. Course was in okay condition for most of it, tee boxes showing a lot of wear and tear. Greens were pretty solid and fairly quick for this time of the year.
Covered greens
The course is a bit pricey for me. I wish they had someone go and blow the greens off. Too many were covered with leaves and debris. It was a windy day but I feel something could have been done.
I like to walk
Always a pleasure to play an Ed Ault design. Course was in great shape. What is it with people not fixing pitch marks, have some respect for the game. Love Delcastle.
Pace of play and tee time issues
2 people took over 4 hours due too pace of play even with playing ahead of some. Marshall never comes around to adhere to pace of play issues. Tee times too close together to squeeze as many people as can.
Just right
I was very happy with this course. It was challenging and had really cool traps and obstacles that made it exciting. The greens were in good shape.
Thank you for your comments! We truly appreciate them. I am going to assume that you played this past Sunday. After all the rain the previous days, it seemed like everyone in Delaware and beyond wanted to play golf on Sunday. The team tried to accommodate everyone that wanted to play that day, even those without tee times, but that caused extremely slow play. Normally, golf at Delcastle takes around 4 hours during the week and closer to 5 on busy weekend days. For those that like to play fast, we recommend playing before 9am on the weekends or after 3pm.
Thanks again for your comments and we hope to see you again in the future!
