Clinton Hill Country Club
About
Clinton Hill Golf Course has a classic, player-friendly layout that has been open to the public since 1970. The traditional design is gentle enough for beginners but there are still challenges in store for the more experienced golfer. The rolling fairways are lined with mature trees and the approach to the massive greens demands proper club selection. The greens are in good condition but they can be tricky and hard to read. Each nine has a distinct character and different set of challenges that will keep golfers on their toes. While the front nine is longer with numerous strategically placed bunkers, water hazards come into play on all but two holes on the back nine. In addition to having an enjoyable layout that appeals to a wide range of skill levels, Clinton Hill Golf Course is also a great value.

Love this course
I love this course and would recommend to anyone who sees a deal out there for it to play and try it for themselves.
This is an awesome course to play.
The overall condition of the course was excellent. The fairways and greens were in great shape considering that my buddy and I played the course a couple of days before Thanksgiving. The staff did an extraordinary job of keeping the leaves off the fairways. I've played this course several times and have enjoyed my experience every time.
Closed
Clinton Hills was auctioned off in November of 2017 and is now closed. I believe it was donated to the City of Swansea and will become a park.
Great day to play
Great staff and course was in great shape. For the money its a bargin!
Awesome greens
Clinton Hill has come into my rotation of courses bc of the 3 par5's on front 9, the great course conditions, and superb greens. Holes 9 and 18 require solid shotmaking to have any chance at par. Challenging and straightforward, Clinton Hill's prices are well worth the drive to Fairview Heights.
Improving conditions
Pace of play was bad, fivesomes, kids, non golfers etc... late on a Saturday afternoon , I guess that's expected?? Under rumors of course closing in near future, it's never looked better. Superintendent has the course in better shape than usual. Greens rolling nicely, no complaints about course conditions. Bar and clubhouse shuts down at sunset. Only $20.00 on Golf Now. Good luck to owners and employees for the future of course .
Worst pace of play in the Metro area
I grew up playin this course and working at this course. It has become unplayable due to the horrible pace of play. Back ups on every tee. No course Marshalls in sight to reinforce pace of play. Even putting the white tees where the ladies' tees used to be doesn't help. Expect a 5 1/2 hour round or worse on a weekend. When I worked here in the 80s we had Marshalls on the weekend and they kept players moving. They helped fore caddy and let groups know when it's safe to tee off.
I won't be going back. It's a shame that a good course has been rendered unplayable.
Perfect greens
Clinton Hill always does a great job of providing a great golfing experience at a great price. We play this course often because it is challenging from the tips, the course is well maintained, and the staff is always very friendly. Rates are among the best bang for your buck values around greater St. Louis. Only critiques would be lack of a cart girl for drinks and snacks on course, and some of the tee boxes need attention. But, overall, they do a great job of keeping golfers happy and coming back.

Just visiting!
I am looking of a "home" golf course, while visiting my son.
This course fits the bill, having the app is great for tracking ones progress.
There are some area of the course where maintenance is clearly needed.
Poor choice of tee by some groups of players in front of us impacted the pace of play yesterday, better education of visitors on the level of difficulty of the course and correct tee selection may help this issue.
We were asked what tees we were playing going to play from, but no one ask whether our ability was equal to our ambitions, I am sure that was the case for other people too.
Hi Lynda! We are glad to hear you enjoyed the golf course and the use of our Golf App while tracking your progress. We will do our best to always improve and look forward to seeing you again in the future!
Thanks for leaving us a review and recommending our golf course! We look forward to seeing you again and hope you have a great rest of your golf season!
Madbimmer
Some of the best greens, but way to many bare dirt spots in the middle of the fairway. Makes approaching the green difficult.
Nice course other than poor fairways.
It has always been a good course. Greens were great. Fairways leave a lot to be desired.
Decent for the price
Course was in decent shape. Fairways look like they are just coming up .. patchy in some areas but not bad overall. Greens were in good shape .. not very fast. $18 on a Sunday weekend not bad.
The one concern I had was there was 1 group of 7 people that held us up .. The young boy marshal broke them up after 9 holes but they reformed again 2 holes later. and they did not have the courtesy to let us play thru! It was a holiday weekend so we decided to not make a big deal out of it.
Course is good leisure time
Good course for beginners to practice iron shots. Fairways weren't great, possible to still have a bad lie after a good shot because of patchiness. Fairways need a little love as well as about half the greens. There were no issues with pace of play Overall we had a good outing.
Hi there! We are sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant experience. We are a little confused though because we had a tournament on your day of play and we had to make sure the everyone played in under 4 1/2 hours or our tournament would of been delayed in the afternoon. We would love to hear more about your experience. Please give us a call at (618) 277-3700 ext.2 and ask for our Director. We would love to right any wrongs! Thanks and have a great day!
