Improving!!!
Played here for the first time in nearly a year. The course has come a long way since then. The bentgreens are very good but a little slow. They continue to repair bad spots with new turf. Cart paths and water break areas are nice. A new bathroom was built between the 6th and 7th holes. Traps have been renovated and new sand added to some. Certain bunkers are now sodded and have become grass bunkers while others are "environmentally sensitive areas". The tee boxes and fairways need some TLC. Poa anna has crept into the Bermuda fairways and seems dominate on some. All in all the course is heading in the right direction.
Coolblaze88 here and course greens are great and course updates along cart path
are awesome...the drive range is cool....
The only improvement i see that could be done is a better putting green to practice on and a place to chip up on green would make the experience perfect for all golfers.
So come on down to Cedartown and get your PUTT on......
Improvements
There are a lot of improvements going on all around the entire course making play much more enjoyable. Have been playing ML for many years, and we anticipate it is going to be better than ever.
Most improved
Club has new owner since 2016, course improvements are everywhere. Staff are very friendly, from the guys in pro shop to Gary the starter, the hard working cart girl and speacial NOTE! Eat lunch or dinner after your round in the club house. The head chef chub will put his personal touch on what ever you order. Beverly and I have eaten dinner there twice. The first time we had a cut with your fork 10oz filet full salad bar and sides $19. Bucks, the second time we had a fried fish plater which included a lobster tail under 15 all this while we watched the Pga tournament on big screen tv’s. Great course! Great Staff! Great food!
Good Day
It rained in the morning and we started playing at about 2:30, so the course was fairly wet. Good day of golf, albeit a little soggy. Nice course. A bit of a drive to get to, but always a good time. Greens were a little damaged with sand spots in some places, but overall course was in good shape and it looks like they've been doing some improvements on some of the sand traps, which is always a plus.
Course in good shape for the time of year. Greens sandy and some.bad spots . Hard to read.
a ways to go
Staff always friendly. Not very crowded during the week. They continue to make improvements. However, greens still bumpy with many bare spots, not quite a fair test to putt on. They are hoping these replaced greens grow in this season, time will tell. Fairways covered with weeds, kind of disappointing. Some ball washers either missing or broken. Sometimes it's the little things. Have always enjoyed this course, but with current conditions (especially greens), it really is a course best suited for on-course practice, not scoring.
Great course in the area
Great flat course, good for beginners I mostly enjoy a challenging course but meadow lakes is a good course . Great to get a group of friends out and have a good time . Pro shop is always nice and friendly
Basic Course
The pace of play was excellent! The greens needed to be cut...they putter super slow. I played today on bentgrass and the putting was night and day different. I think they were long to help grow in. Most greens had bare spots so putting was uneven. If this course was closer I might play again. I rather pay a little more at closer courses though instead of driving further and paying less.
Greens are so bad
2nd time playing here in the last 5 weeks and the greens are cut so high thus making them incredibly slow it was laughable. It was like playing on shag carpet you had to hit it so hard. Only one approach shot in my threesome rolled off the back of the green in 18 holes, and that was from 200 yards, because the ball would always stop in the nice high grass on the green.I am really not that picky of golfer and usually ok with a value priced course, but these greens are just frustrating. I just don’t think I can play here any more.
Also the carts are not being taken care of. Last time I played the a tire was almost flat. This time the floorboard of my cart was covered in motor oil. Both times I had to trade my cart in after the 3rd hole.
Love to play during the week
Meadow Lakes had it's down time for a few months, but have seemed to recover well. As a retired around 25 handicapper, I like to play when I am not rushed with players behind me. I usually can get a tee time during the week when I can tee it up as a single player with no pressure of a over booked golf course. Can play at my pace and just enjoy hitting the ball. Much better than a driving range when you just tee it up, hit and tee it up and hit again. I do think of myself as a fast player, but I have time to take a practice swing, walk up to the ball and swing. Course to me is somewhat challenging on some holes, but not keeping score and more concentration on each shot makes it usually a great day of golf for me.
Greens in progress
Course overall in good shape, with the exception of the greens. I am hoping they are not losing the greens again. Many still have bare spots, some outright dead spots. They have worked hard to improve other aspects of the course (bunkers, cart path), now if the greens come back, it will be a very nice course again. Staff always friendly.
Making Improvements
New ownership has got the course going in the right direction. You can see that some money is being spent to improve the course and with a little more time it should be back in good condition. New greens are just growing in and bunkers being reworked. I will definitely be back.
A ways to go
First time playing since re-opening. Overall course could use a little grass trimming (fairways, rough, tee boxes). Looks like they re-sodded some fairways, and overall, the fairways were in good shape. Rough a little deep for my taste, definitely hard to find a ball even on a minor missed fairway. They re-worked many of the greenside bunkers, replacing one big bunker with multiple small ones (sodded the areas in between the new bunkers). They also just made some large bunkers smaller with sod around the sides. There appears to be new sand in all the new bunkers, which is a definite improvement. Cart paths have been mostly upgraded. They replaced/re-seeded all the greens I believe. They are very shaggy (thicker grass) with still quite a few bare/thin spots with sand. The greens are minimally playable (ball does not roll well at all). I am hoping that in time they will grow in evenly and be smoothed out. Probably won't play here again until the greens come in.
Responses in this site are not a benefit to the course
Meadow Lakes is working hard to rebuild greens and sand traps along with other improvements that were underway before the greens were lost due the heat and rain. When a club is having an issue this website should seek a true response from the course involved instead if posting these GENERIC responses.
Under Construction
The course is in terrible condition. Only 9 (random) holes are open and we saw no warning of this before making our tee time. We found a hot deal on golf now so it was discounted but still not worth it. The greens are in horrible condition. They should close the course until they can improve conditions.
I am assuming those who comment on this site actually played the course, and have no hidden agenda other than to comment on their experience. I played this course in July, and the greens were already in rough shape. It sounds like the greens aren't in any better shape currently. I am sure comments from the management at ML regarding the current condition of the course would be more than welcome.
